Ulyseeses & The Couriers Relationship

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:51 am

well, considering that two of the achievements are:

Detonated all the warheads in the Divide

&

Decided the fate of all the Divide Dwellers

it seems that setting off the bombs will be one option......

Smart, real smart

Not just a "bomb".

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ballistic_Orbital_Missile_Base_001.

EDIT: Actually, it is entirely possible, considering how much content from Interplay's Fallout 3 (A.K.A. Van Buren) was implemented in New Vegas (Caesar's Legion, New Canaan, Burned Man, Big Empty, and more)

well, if you look at the pic of ulysses standing in front of the rocket and compare the top of that warhead to the image in the achievement for Warhead Hunter it seems that the top of the warhead in the pic looks like the image of the warhead in the achievement graphic......

and with BOMB001 being and orbiting base one has to go to, i doubt that is a rocket to get to it......

and the warhead hunter achievement says "Detonated all the warheads in the Divide " it seems that the warheads are located in the divide and not on the space station......

my biggest problem with the courier and ulysses having a history is that they encourage us to roleplay the courier and now they are going to change what we developed as our own past and tell us what the past of the courier "really" is concerning ulysses......

i could see if the two bullets to the head gave us amnesia or something, but i dont remember that being part of the storyline (although its been awhile since the beginning of the game and i am sure i will be corrected if wrong)......

i hope the storyline has it so we havent met ulysses before, yet our fates are somehow entwined otherwise they will be changing the past of the courier that many players created for themselves......

Nukes almost always need 2 people to launch. Those tubes may very well be che launch control tubes for the missle. You may need to work with him to launch the missile.
I had the exact same idea. I wonder where we're supposed to be launching them?

Why is my first image of the Courier delivering a huge nuke the scene from Spongebob where they are pushing Bikini Bottom? Seriously, a bomb that could ruin the Divide like the stories claim would have to be one serious bomb >_>

Not really, maybe it was a bob-omb!?

I think The Courier might have been born in the Divide (hence the hometown hero achievement/trophy). & given the dialogue from certain characters & the holotapes from OWB, I think Ulysses also may of been born there making them either family or long lost friends.

Pretty interesting Theories,

I just always assumed that they were brothers in arms in a merc band.

Ulysses is mad at the Courier for leaving not because of some big Falling Out CoughNewVegasCough,
but because Ulysses was getting ready to propose, made a Ring out of Saturnite and Everything.

i agree that it wil lturn out that both courier and ulysses were born in the divide......

but i dont think they knew each other and it was some small inconesequential (sp?) thing the courier did that ended up having huge ramifications in the divide that ulysess is now looking to hold the courier accountable for.......

I think the messages the two couriers have for each other might be the codes to the nukes, going by the Two Man Rule.

While the nature of the relationship does interest me, I am much more concerned about weather or not I will be able to side with him in his quest to bring America back.

You may not want to if Ulysses turns out to be an Elijah irrational nutcase. If he actually has a reasonable, humane method to bring back America, I'll try to side with him too.

My guess is that the Courier and Ulysses are connected via whoever died at Ulysses farm. Maybe that was the Courier's sister. Or maybe a former lover who chose Ulysses in the end. At any rate, Ulysses considers the Courier responsible in some way for the death. Not sure about how the Divide fits in.

After almost a year and 2 crappy DLCs (HH was good) I really dont care. I'll buy it, play it, and leave it. Not like FO3 DLCs, which I played (and still do) over and over again. No offense to the devs, but I just dont like them that much.

Wait, you liked the insanely short Honest Hearts with generic tribals but hated Old World Blues and its zannyness and Dead Money and its dark setting? I think you have it backwards on what's good and what's bad.

Please use punctuation.
F3 was remarkable and 2/5 of its DLCs were great (The Pitt and Point Lookout).

But this is not the place to discuss this.

I admit this has me completely baffled. Mainly because Ulysses seems to be very aware of who the Courier is, but the Courier doesn't seem to know who Ulysses is...

That always made me think. Somewhere i remember reading Big MT was based on Tibbets Prison. ULYSSES or ODYSSEUS was the robot.. maybe they implemented this somehow

Going by another post arguing that Ulysses was the Lone Wanderer from FO3, I was trying to find another character who Ulysses knew that would be in the West. I came up with Paulson from MZ. He was from the Old West and would conceivably want to go back to the West after leaving the ship. As for the message they have for each other:

Courier (Paulson): What the **** was that crap getting me shot in the head?

Ulysses: That's what you get for leaving me after we got back to Earth.

This theory requires some serious mental gymnastics to work and I don't seriously think it will be true. Fun theory through.

My theory is that Courier is originally from the Divide (Divide Dweller) and left for some reason or got expelled. Then ended up doing odd jobs and being a courier and then got shot in the head and forgat this part of his/hers life. Ulysses however somehow know this and wants to track you down because "you know the way" and he is probably just another nutcase who wants to nuke the Core Region or something similar and start a new nation from a scratch and then you can side with him or talk him out of it or end up in to an epic fight.

The Courier doesn't have amnesia. And I really hope Uly's plan isn't something as dumb and Elijah-ish as "NUKE EVERYTHING".

If Obsidian did that, I'd have to dislike them for their derping and repeating Dead Money. I like DLC's for variety, not to replay the same DLC repasted >_>

I've said this before, but it need repeating. Ulysses is your lovaaaaa, whether you like it or not! Did you even hear the way he talked about the courier? I'm sure there was some deep meaning to his words, but it all boils down to BOW-CHICA-WA-WAHHHH. :hubbahubba: The cryo-chambers are probably there so that the two of you can literally have an "endless love"

You have just made me the most depressed person on the face of this planet... :nope:
