The Courier doesn't have amnesia. And I really hope Uly's plan isn't something as dumb and Elijah-ish as "NUKE EVERYTHING".

I think that's essentially what it boils down to. However, I have a feeling his plan is a bit more complex than this as well. There is some as yet unknown element in it that we haven't seen.

I think the motive is different. Elijah was a madman who loved technology more than people, who wanted any and all opposition to die off and leave him alone.
Ulysses seems like he's been hurt, or that he's somehow troubled by both the NCR and the Legion; as if he'll have good reason for doing it.

I admit this has me completely baffled. Mainly because Ulysses seems to be very aware of who the Courier is, but the Courier doesn't seem to know who Ulysses is...
There better not be to much back story.

That's all I have to say.

I like my characters with their own past.

the ncr, legion and brotherhood all feel they have good reasons for their actions as well.......

ulyssess seems to be looking to "restore/revive america" as a nation but then it comes down to whether his version of america agrees with yours......

That is the point. America can't comeback with factions like NCR and the Legion around. They are their own nations that have their own ways of doing things. Both are so powerful that the only way for them to be destroyed is by an outside force. They have to be destoyed for America to come back.

Unless he is just talking about the America spirt.. I don't think that is what he means though. NCR is close to what America was and yet he does not like NCR.

It's not a triangle unless your courier is [censored]ting it up with somebody else...it's more of a love line segment, or love train!

@Vaard Ulysses seriously needs to take a 6th grade government class. Apparently this is a big part of "finding himself"

All I know is that Chris Avellone wrote down the answer. It's bound to be a mind [censored]. That or it's "war".

what makes a nation?
War, war never changes. In time of great strife advances are made, men are forged, and nations rise and die. Through war, on the night of October 23 2077, atomic fire scorched the earth, and society as what was once known was changed forever. It was not the end of the world, as many had thought. Rather, it was the beginning of a new world, from the ashes of the old. Humanity proved resourcful enough to survive, withing the vaults, and without. The mighty nation of America fell, and in it's place, new nations were forged.

A male char broke the bro code.

A female char dumped him.

Hats what I am thinking of why he doesn't like the courier.

But really based on something said it was something so minor the courier may not even be aware of it.

So could be something so minor has he gave a package to someone or something.

Basically no relationship per-say.

My guess is that the Courier and Ulysses are connected via whoever died at Ulysses farm. Maybe that was the Courier's sister. Or maybe a former lover who chose Ulysses in the end. At any rate, Ulysses considers the Courier responsible in some way for the death. Not sure about how the Divide fits in.

Ulysses farm? Where is this farm and how do you know he owns it?

On a side note, I don't think we can be 100% sure that the ranch really is associated with Ulysses. Or at least, not in the version of the story released. What I mean is that we know that Ulysses was originally supposed to be a potential companion that was later removed from the game. Its possible that the ranch was part of that, perhaps even where we would have met him. That could be the reason the non-English versions of the game used that name, as an unintentional holdover. But that doesn't mean the story being told now necessarily still attaches Ulysses to the location. It really depends on how much of what we are seeing in the Ulysses related DLC is what was originally planned and how much is a new direction that is different from that.

We'll know in a few days.

The trailer does seem to give away a few hints. More obviously that the courier has been to the Divide before since he knows the way. But more telling is the part where Ulysses tells the courier to bring whatever flag you're carrying now. Makes it sound as if the Courier and Ulysses were fighting for the same cause at one point in time (What the United States used to be?) But for some reason the courier swapped allegiances. I would also venture to guess that Ulysses had not been to the divide before given his interest and needing to learn about it at the Big MT. My thought is that Ulysses refused the job because he wanted to the Courier to see for him/herself that fighting for the factions on the strip aren't worth fighting for. Then again who knows it's 330 in the morning here..

That's an interesting point. If we assume that the Courier once worked with Ulysses and that Ulysses's plan involves detonating nukes in the Mojave (as seen in the trailer), then it's a good chance the Courier left out of guilt. What interests me is that when Ulysses saw the Courier's name on the list, he was surprised the Courier's still alive. What does this mean? Did Ulysses try to kill him/her once already?

i went back to look up the holotapes and whatnot cuz i was thinking same thing, but after reading im actually under the impression that ulysses had alrdy been to the divide before the big MT, that he was maybe seeing how the weather thingie works or geting info on it and what went wrong at the divide than how to get there.

As best I understand it, The Divide has been his sort of 'base' for what he's been plotting for the Courier, but at some point he noticed that the weather had an unnatural pattern, tracked it to Big MT (Discovering Big MT by pure accident) and shut down the weather tests, then after learning more from the Think Tank, went back to the Divide so he could put his new knowledge to work.

They are both time travellers, and traveled from the world of Elder Scrolls, so now they are preparing to go back, ergo Skyrim.
