A few days ago someone suggested that you & Ulysses more then just crossed paths... Take a look at the picture posted about lonesome road.

If you look at the picture with the Missile, and Ulysses standing back turned in front, you will notice to both the left, and right side there our tubes.

It was suggested that these tubes were actually Cryo Chambers for both Ulysses & for You... the Courier.

This is one theory of a possible Relationship between you & Ulysses.

Hmm I'm Not so sure cause if u have the lady killer perk an talk to the lonesome drifter the courier confirm's that he has a 18 year old kid somewhere in montana which would mean that the courier got around.Not sure what the tanks are for maybe to see the nuke go off u know so u don't get burned by the fire that comes from the rocket.

I'm pretty sure the Cryo Chambers have something to do with Futurama.

This is what I thought it to be. It's not serious. I had speculated that Ulysses was trying to awaken a Vault of frozen people, but maybe YOU and He were the only ones to make it out alive meaning that you were frozen and no have amnesia. It's no coincidence that we know NOTHING about The Courier's past. Zero.

He wants you to detonate the nuke and if you don't he battles you. And if you do set it off both of you go to the cryo chambers or he might backstab you on the way to the chambers and you fight him. Who knows. We just have to wait

Anyways they just look like tubes protectrons would be in, and I wouldn't doubt that protectrons would be placed there to protect the missle so it could be used, too bad weather experiments stopped that.

If I remember one of the devs said it would be an unexpected relationship, so I am clueless. With the ED-E thing, I got a nice silly idea. Maybe there fathers were in the Enclave, Ulysses doesn't seem too old so I doubt he would have been in it. There fathers were good friends and when the Chosen One was like, pow pow pow, there was a secret base at the Divide which was used in case of emergencies. They decided not to use the missle for whatever reason and maybe made a nice little settlement, The divide said "no u" and devastated a lot of it. There were small amounts of people left inclusing you and him. So life long friends Ulysses trusted you, but you betrayed him so maybe the courier did something or didn't do something. You had and have the knowledge to save the divide, but you decicded yo leave and save yourself. Ulysses has been trying to find you since, and then on the Mojave mailman service thing he decided to set up an ambush, but Benny got to you first. While he was searching for you for revenge he was also finding ways to help the divide. Now he has an oppurtunity to see what your know before he takes revenge.

Just a mention: This is a stupid idea I just came up with in moments of seeing this.

Nukes almost always need 2 people to launch. Those tubes may very well be che launch control tubes for the missle. You may need to work with him to launch the missile.

That's a very good point, although you would think the controls would be located in a separate room or something. But gameplay wise, it is a possibility.

Wiki suggest that you have once been to the divide (Obviously not in New Vegas).

I believe the Courier played a key role in triggering what happened at the Divide, and has the option to fix his mistakes or not. My question still remains, how do the two know each other.

One good idea was suggest that you where part of the enclave, and friends when you where younger. The problem with this is that you can set the age of your character meaning you could be 56 and Ulysses only in his 20's.

I am not trying to shoot anyone's ideas down, but obviously Ulysses and the Courier could not have grown up with each other.

Yea but whatever the relationship, it'd also have to stand up to being believeable if you play as a man, or woman. So either the AI for this DLC is gonna be able to make a judgement call and react to your player type, or it's gonna be some generic "we used to be friends" junk. I look forward to being surprised.

I could actually see a way the first option could work. When he would say something like "You know what you did...", a speech option would appear with various skill checks or SPECIAL checks, and depending on which one you choose, there would be a different reaction, example:
"You know what you did..."
"[Explosives 50]"
"You set off the bomb that triggered all those storms we have above us! YOU!"

Example 2:
"You know what you did..."
"[Speech 50]"
"You knew that the storms were going to happen! AND YOU NEVER WARNED US!

I suspect they were conjoined twins. The procedure to separate them was difficult because they were joined at the groin. The surgery was a success. The Courier walked away with the bigger shlong and Ulysses got the "short end of the stick" so to speak. He's been over-compensating ever since.

That's why he's standing in front of such a large missile.

I've said this before, but it need repeating. Ulysses is your lovaaaaa, whether you like it or not! Did you even hear the way he talked about the courier? I'm sure there was some deep meaning to his words, but it all boils down to BOW-CHICA-WA-WAHHHH. The cryo-chambers are probably there so that the two of you can literally have an "endless love"
