Maybe Ulysses was the courier's gay lover, and wants vengeance on the courier because he saw him cheating? myth...maybe....truth possibly

No.

The only reason that silly idea started getting kicked around is becuase some people see the word relationship and immediately think 'lovers' and 'intimate'

Relationship is a very broad description. Covering intimate, friendship, rivalry, family and business association amongst others.

Obsidian aren't going to offer us all that choice in our character and then railroad us into such a limited connection. And how would it work if our character was female?

You sir, are a genius.
I honestly think that this is the most reasonable explanation for Ulysses' Messages.

Just think about it dude. You see on the wall at the canyon wreckage in the game, "Go home courier six."
Ulysses just wants you to go home to his loving arms =]

Ulysses was not at their home when he was writing that obviously.
So he was implying that they should meet up there. Thus the sentence would be, "Go home courier 6." =]

but then, he would write it somewhere more... obvious. On the big dinosaur. On the Freeside gate. On the Navarro Express office. Not some out of the way place like the Canyon Wreckage, that in all likelyhood you (the Courier) is never likely to see on your travels... UNLESS you decide to go down the Lonesome Road, in which case it's there in big letters for you to see: Don't come this way, don't follow me, nothing but a world of pain down here, go home! It's more like he's looking out for you, than taunting you or requesting your presence in a sleeping bag for two.

Let me repeat.

Relationship does NOT immediately translate to lovers.

Obsidian would NOT railroad us into such a thing.

IT makes no sense for Ullyses to set us up to be shot in the head and then ask us home.

And the whole idea makes no sense considering all the game hints to battling him at the Great Divide

And again, what if we're playing as a female character?

Well, I think the canyon wreckage might be where the two first met.
Ulysses knew that you were destined to return to this spot, which would obviously be the best place for it =]

I have a theory about that too. He passed up the Platinum Chip job, gave it to you, because he thought it would be easy, a simple drop-off. Why? Because there was another, far more dangerous courier job next, out in the divide. If he took the Strip Drop, you (courier 6) would probably have taken the Divide Drop instead. He knows it's dangerous.. far more dangerous than delivering a chip to the strip (lol!). He took the Divide Drop because he is older, more experienced, more able to handle it. And just in case you finished the strip drop early, and decided to follow him, he wrote in big letters "do not follow me Courier 6. Go home!" Sounds more like a big brother or parent than a lover.

Aaaaannyway.... something like that.

there no way to know who wrote that message its pure speculation, also the whole lovers thing wouldn't work for a lot of characters like a straight guy. Theres no evidence to confirm or infer this info is baseless guessing,

It never fully points at the great divide being a battle of physicality. Maybe it was the battle of the two destined lovers being divided.
And the great divide being overwhelmed in love =]

(PERK) Confirmed Bachelor

Yes, a perk that offers choice.

It's not proof that Obisidian are then going to take choice away from us by railroading us into being Ulysees lover.

Maybe Obsidian just wants to imply that everyone should take the Confirmed Bachelor Perk.
I mean, it does give a bonus 10% dam to male characters. =]

Especially after providing us with such a blank slate o work with, when it comes to a backstory. My canon courier is the son of an escapee from Navarro. It's how he recognised ED-E for what it was, and what it took to fix it. You know, actual role play.

Arcade is gay, Veronica is gay, Cass isn't fussy... no reason Ulysses couldn't be gay. Don't think he is though, that is too obvious, and treads on Arcade's toes.

No, he's either your father/adopted father/big brother/rival in the Courier Business. Something more complex.

Perhaps Obsidian wants to change the aspect of the Role Play of this game, and see how people cope with situations that are out of their control?

The two couriers had their first kiss up in the mouth of Dinky the T-Rex in Novac.

For real though, I think they are enemies and will fight in the future.

See, I don't think they are enemies at all. Don't forget, Ulysses was supposed to be your companion in New Vegas, until he got cut out for the DLC. I think you're both after the same thing in the divide, rivals, both after the big bag o'caps. That is how you end up fighting.

Worst thing is, Lonesome Road is the last DLC, so we won't know for MONTHS! arghghghgh lol :)
