Ulysses: I have no idea what to do

Post » Thu Mar 12, 2015 8:49 am

I'd like to destroy him but have no idea how. And a number of you speak of "saving" him, but I don't see that coming up in any of the dialogue options. On one try, I managed to get downstairs and to the eye-bot console but couldn't operate it. Can you please explain?

To "save" him you must have a high speech dialogue option. Sorry I can help with the best way to destroy him, as I've never tried it.

If you want to spare Ulysses, you need a high speech unless you have collected all of ED-E's LR upgrades or ALL of his holotapes.

Also, you try to use the speech option, you need to not use any line that hints deception or it will fail.

I believe he is a speech http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ulysses.

However I usually kill him, then nuke the legion. It seems more beneficial to my benefactor (House) to cripple the legion alot, and the NCR only enough to be willing and able to bleed the most amount of money into Vegas. Since the legion doesnt really seem to encourage gambling, boozing and womanizing, I think its a safer bet. Plus, Ill be able to use it as political and strategical leverage with the NCR.

Besides I hate his guts. He is the most ineptly written toon with the most inept pseudo-intellectual phariseeic unethical and immoral dense musingsI have ever come across. And Ive played enough Pen and Paper to come across many a Paladin.

Normally yes, but if you have a high reputation with the Strip/NCR/Legion it is supposed to drop to 90. Or you can just go around and explore, gathering all the ED-E LR upgrades and the Ulysses holotapes and use those.

My problem is that I usually start doing quests for the NCR and reach a decent reputation level with them even before hitting the strip. That, in my version of the game at least, has caused Ulysses to be "confused" and mistake me for Bear or Legion. I have done the run about five times in seperate games, and in none of them did he even entertain the notion that I was aligned with House. Its a bug, and in my book compounding evidence that LR was rushed and that Ulysses was not intended to be such a wreck of a toon.

Never said it was not a train wreck/bad bug. Just pointing out that it is 100 unless you have a high rep with one of the three big factions/endgame factions.

I have remembered why My characters always find all five of the ED-E Upgrades, and usually get all of Ullyses recordings in the Divide.

I was amazed My low level characters that went into the Temple for the Indy Duster still had any Auto-Injecting Stimpacks left. I am not sure how many Mini-Nukes Ulysses could take, all of My convenient Ulysses Saved Games do not have a Fatman to try...

The Speech Options to talk down Ulysses are non-confrontational, and are often started by Questioning Ulysses to find the "Why of it" behind His choices.
