Unable to Get Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition to Launch

Hi, I am really hoping someone can help me with this problem. I recently bought Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition, however I cannot get it to start! I can open the first box (with Data files etc) but every time I press play it opens a black screen and then tells me the program has stopped responding. I am not enormously technical but I believe it may be something to do with my graphics card as it tells me when I ask it to "reset to defaults" on the Options page that it cannot recognise my video hardware.

Computer specifications are as follows:

Windows 7
AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T Processor 2.80 Ghz
RAM: 8.00 GB
64-Bit operating System
Display Adaptor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Sound Card: CREATIVE X-Fi Titanium 7.1

Its a very new computer so it would astonish me if it does not have the capacity to play this game. As I say I am not hugely technical so grateful for any advice you can give regarding this. At the moment I simply cannot play the game at all. If you need any more technical info about my computer please let me know. Thanks for any help you can give.

try renaming or deleting the oblivion.ini file (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini)

Oblivion will then redetect hardware. It will also, probably, not recognize your video card and set everything to medium. Just change the settings according to what you think your card will support (You can always change them later)
