Unable to select anything using mouse

Post » Wed Aug 07, 2013 5:39 pm

Basically, I had a level 51 char, then Skyrim kept freezing on loading, so I am trying to create a new char. Problem is, my mouse won't select options. I can move the mouse pointer, but left clicking doesn't activate it, so I can't choose gender, I can't create a name, I basically can't do anything. Any ideas on the solution to this problem?

Maybe it's a UI problem, so, if you have any UI mods installed, try removing those, but before that i would do a "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".

  1. Completely exit Steam
  2. Right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam
  3. Select "Run as Administrator"
  4. Load Steam
  5. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  6. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
  7. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
  8. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Important: One or more files may fail to verify.

This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

It may be that your key control mapping file has been corrupted somehow...!!!

So try that: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\

Delete ControlMap_Custom.txt or rename it if you want. (Restart your computer)

Actually this resets the control mapping keys to the default keyboard/mouse mappings.

(Actually after that you should remap you controls keys again...)
