Seriously though, I don't give a damn if it's not a MMO or multiplayer game it should still be balanced and I should not have to nerf myself because the developers failed to balance it. <_<

Exactly the reason why I hate the way EW is in FO3 and FNV, nerfed like crazy.
They're not suppose to be "equal".


All weapon skillsets should be balanced equally; no real reason for them not to be. Balance can be achieved through any number of factors (like the rarity of EW in FO1&2) but it should be there nonetheless.

I agree Unarmed is probably a bit too powerful at the current moment, but again, it's mostly because the AI doesn't fight intelligently against an Unarmed enemy (they don't run and gun or try and keep distance).

No, it doesn't.

Like others pointed out, most enemies don't employ elegant strategies against you, just more or less charge, charge, charge. With enough sense, they are easily countered, especially with the copious use of chems and very much so with turbo.

And with the fact that unarmed is only effective at close range, it's the tradeoff, especially when dealing with deathclaws and the like that have longer reach than you, and cazadores with their speed and venom.

I think your posts need a nerf.

The difference is that Unarmed can go through armor, can score great critical hits, can do knockdown and easily cripple people while at the same time just mashing out damage with no reload or worry about "missing" the target, Unarmed also get special moves which do various effects and have low AP cost.
The absolutely only con is the range, but after closing the range, which is easy to do, it's completely ridiculous.

EW needs a critical build, it requires tons of ammo for it's damn MC or OC MFC/EC/ECP and since it's ranged it's more often that you can miss with the weapons.

Same with Guns, but they are a step above EW.

And Explosives just plain [censored] svck, except for Plasma Grenades and Missile Launcher.

1. Get noticed by cazadors.
2. Let them close the range.
3. Prepare some stimpacks.
4. Enter VATS.
5. Continue a sequence.
6. Pick of the remainder by back pedaling and pressing the fire button.

Was a long time since I played my Unarmed character but I think that you can do just fine with 1, 2 and 6.

Still, med-x + backpedaling + mashing attack button works fine IIRC.

I don't even use VATS, except to line up shots when things get frantic and every single round fired counts. Lock on, exit.

And back-pedaling only works when you know you've got nothing but open terrain behind you, and no possible obstructions, because otherwise that same pack of cazadores damn near instantly swarms you and pegs you to death.

Try nerfing the way you play.

Wow, you are just determined as hell to get a nerf for that. It's never gonna happen.

On topic, unarmed is good but not the best. The ballistic fist is insane, though. Then again, it is a shotgun attached to a persons wrist...

Yes.

Works fine for me just about everywhere. Only problem I had was deathclaws and that was easily fixed with a med-x.

My first character was EW, I only used energy weapons with her.
My second character was Guns, I only used ballistic weapons with him.
My third character was Unarmed, I only used unarmed weapons with her.
My fourth character was Explosives, I only use explosive weapon with her.

And right now I'm on hiatus from the game.
But when I do come back, and when I do want to play an Unarmed character I do not accept the self gimping method as an excuse for developers failing at balancing a combat class in an RPG.

Balance=equality, the two terms are mutually inclusive. Unless you're referring specifically to damage output; however, I still fail to see why you feel Unarmed must naturally be weaker than the other weapon types, damage-wise. What bonus should it receive to compensate for this?

Anyways, it's honestly virtually impossible to die in FONV vanilla on any difficulty as long as you bring enough stimpacks.

Unarmed is much weaker on hardcoe, where stimpacks do virtually nothing for you as you can't heal past the damage you take as you charge in. Ranged weapons users can crouch behind cover and heal; you don't have that luxury as Unarmed.

Unarmed isn't over-powered though. Therefore nerfing them would make them weak.

Good thing I have a PC. I can make a bb gun the most hottest [censored] in the world, or modify weapons and ammo to my liking (namely, making them all more lethal)

I will say that there are certain weapons that make Unarmed a little overpowered. Most notable is that Ballistic Fist. Not that such a weapon wouldn't have huge damage potential, but since it has an internal shotgun, it should require 12-gauge ammo and reloading time between punches. But the damage index of spiked knuckles is pretty ridiculous. Spiked knuckles are a fairly destructive weapon in the right hands, but they don't do three times the damage of a bullet.

FO3 was similar, but not as extreme. With a fully repaired Fisto and the Iron Fist perk, you could do extreme damage with your fists, but less than half of the BF's.

If you're worries about it, don't use Unarmed. My current character's Unarmed skill is 8, and his only close-in weapon in a switchblade.
