[Discussion] Unarmed in Fallout 4

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:22 pm

How would you think unarmed would return in Fallout 4?

Will they work like in the previous game?

Will they have those kind of (honestly a bit overpowered hehe) special moves like in New Vegas?

Or will it have a new system?

Because I like to make an unarmed playthrough sometimes, and I'm just wondering how it will work in FO4...

Nothing substitutes whacking a deathclaw to pulp with brass knuckles, or punching a raider's head off.

But obviously, unless Bethesda gives another demo, we won't know for sure how it will work...

So long as Power Fists are still available i would hope Unarmed is a viable method of combat in FO4. They could surely expand the system...unless they take the Skyrim approach and make it completely useless

Some of the most powerful builds in classic fallout games that I've seen, have been melee builds, so I'm all for making going Mike Tyson on the Wasteland.

Yup the Skyrim approach really saddens me... In Oblivion, unarmed is quite a good build, because you don't need enchanted or silver weapons to attack ghosts. Just punch them!

And for power fist, if only power fists are equipped in pairs... (although realistically it will put a heavy strain on your arms due to the sustained pneumatic punching with your two arms)

Personally, I would want to see unarmed return with several new features, such as disarming an enemy's melee weapon! (kind of overpowered though, so may need perks that are hard to get and restrictions like can only being used when countering)

One think i am sure of, it will be much more fan.

Because of improved VATS where you apparently can target body parts when unarmed and a drastic increase in variety of customization for all weapons, in the trailer you can even see a sledgehammer and see a flame coming out of it, so i expect some crazy unarmed weapons make an appearance in Fallout 4.

Laser/plasma fists. Please make them happen XD

EDIT: Plus, with the fighting ring we've seen on one of the FO4 trailers (the kill montage video), I think unarmed is likely to return... It's illogical to not being able to attack if you don't have weapons, no? ^^

Laser Fists...

Not since the Gunblade has a more unnecessary weapon been conceived...

"My fist shoots LASERS when I punch!"

"...Why not shoot em with a laser pistol?"

"Because then I wouldn't get to punch!"

Hahaha didn't saw that XD

They do have that ballistic fist in the previous games... Maybe it's the same principle? Where your punch have to connect first before they fire?

It wouldn't be Fallout without all those crazy Power Fists or Shotgun Fists.

You do know that you can target body parts outside of VATS right? Just aim your attacks/swings/shots with the cursor...

I'd love to see an altered version of the ballistic fist that actually uses shotgun ammo/perks for damage (on impact only).

Lmao, it's like peanut butter and M&M's, you take two separate but equally good things and combine them into something awesome. It's win win. :)

The best thing is, it also works with plasma XD

Imagine punching someone, and suddenly, they dissolve into a pile of goo...

I want to see some sort of multi-functional combat glove/gloves, where in one mod it activates EMP discharge on hit (useful against robots, androids and power-armor users), in another functions like blunt weapon similair to a power fist's pneumatic hydraulic piston powered ram (usefull against heavely armored non electronic opponent like Deathclaws, super-mutant Behemoths,etc...), and in the 3rd mod it draw an high quality steel or a titanium blade (useful against not so heavily armored opponents).

And of course the switching between these three modes should be animated.

It is probably not that hard to mod in the game.

PS: And of course it should be powered by micro-fusion and/or energy cells.

EMP gloves would be neat, I wonder how you would keep from frying your gear though.

If I remembered correctly, in FO:NV they have that weapon named displacer glove right? Too bad it only makes sonic boom (guile style), not EMP pulse...

I hope it's similar to New Veags at least in terms of viability and variety of weapons. The lack of melee and unarmed weapons shown so far scares me.

There were EMP gloves as well, Brotherhood Scribes carried them. They did massive damage to Power Armor and Robots

Honestly the unarmed system in F3 and NV is extremely lacking, IMO. I wish we had something like in Saints Row 3. In SR3 we still have the basic boxing but with nice combo finishers.

I'm not expecting more detailed martial arts but little more than just a simple punch and a harder one with unarmed weapon equipped would be nice.

Didn't see any point of unarmed combat in the previous games.

I think it's pretty stupid to kill heavy armored troops with your fists.
