Unarmed Weapons

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:24 am

I'm thinking along the lines of things more appropriate to the setting of course; gauntlets, spiked, mailed or weighted gloves etc.

I know gauntlets are technically armor but if you hit someone with a steel plated fist it's surely going to hurt more than bare knuckles, right?

If hand to hand is indeed one of the 2 remaining, not revealed yet, skills of the Stealth/Thief archetype, it should have them. Oblivion was so bad for someone who wanted to play a monk, fighting only with hands.

Cestus. Yes indeed many kinds of unarmed weapons, katars could even fall into that genre.

I agree that it would be good to have hand to hand weapons. What I think would be a useful application with the Smithing skill is the ability to place spikes or some other damaging 'thing' onto gauntlets. One severe drawback I had when playing as a Hand to hand fighter in Oblivion was the lack of damage inflicted.

I would also like to see something similar implemented for block, now that I think about it, if I'm wearing a gauntlet or bracer i wan't to be able to use it to deflect arrows and sword swings.

I think it'd be interesting to have something like the sword and shield set up but unarmed, one side for blocking/parrying/counter attacking, and one side for striking.

I want those block perks to work without a shield too.

I really hope so.

Simply integrate them into gauntlets, so that they have both- protection and damage, based on depending skill.
So that there could be various models of same material gloves- ones that more protects and less damages, ones that are balanced, and ones that gives maximum damage, but gives almost no defense.
Also enchanting effects on gloves that occurs during HtH (like fire or lightning, or other)

I'm sure they just have gauntlets that will have + h2h or whatever it's under now, one-hand or 2-hand. I guess you'd be duel wielding fists.. so one-hand?
I don't see why they would have any reason not to put them in the game.

Imagine if you could wear leather gauntlets, then use your crafting skill to be able to add pieces of mammoth tusk to make a kind of medieval 'brass' knuckles. :hubbahubba:

I would for sure love to have weapons like cestus available to me. I had a Fallout 3 character based on unarmed fighting and he was probably my favorite character. I see no reason why we shouldn't have spiked knuckles or other things like them.

I've always loved hand to hand fighting, but I feel like they usually end up penalizing you for your choice. Like in Oblivion you ended up doing crappy damage compared to other weapon types AND your only cool special attack was impossible to hit anyone with. Hold back WHILE swinging, yeah right.

Well, it would only make sense if they had http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f5/Ornamental_katar.jpg&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ornamental_katar.jpg&usg=__aRqnBa3nZQT7gV4G978_yF6DslI=&h=800&w=625&sz=681&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=VdkwfzMooxH0nM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=122&ei=x778Tc7IGIzQsAOomcXeBQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dkatar%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D656%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=493&vpy=103&dur=1468&hovh=254&hovw=198&tx=165&ty=143&page=1&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&biw=1280&bih=656, those are pretty much the "brass knuckles of the dark ages."

^ This !!!

Or if we can't have this, at least let me enchant my gauntlets with fire/ice/damage health/etc. and set it to "damage enemy" or some such thing rather than just doing damage to me...

If indeed gauntlets would do more damage, there wouldn't be no need for other unarmed weapons IMO, that's enough :)

Unarmed weapons? Kind of contradictory, no? ;)

Weapons for improving Hand to Hand/martial arts would be great....more expensive items I'd never use for me to sell ;)

How about some kind of gauntlet that gives you a 10% chance of insta-kill on a hit. Wait, that'll just make people upset because it bases on a dice roll
