Hmm that sounds great. Just two questions from me.

- Are there going to be bonuses for reaching 25/50/75/100 skill level?

- Are you planning to make unarmored compatibile with mods that increase max skill level to 200?

Yes:
25 --> You get a Defense Bonus
50 --> You also get a Defense Bonus if you wear some pieces of Armor (is still decreased by 5%)
75 --> You're defense Bonus is no longer influence by the weight of the stuff you're carrying.
100 --> You get a Bonus of 5 on the maximum Defense Bonus; The 5%-Malus because of carrying armor is removed.

At least with Elys Uncapper it's compatible.
For the other just use this console command:
set LPUSFEMaximumSkillLevel to 200

I tried it out, but had to disable it. It seemed to get stuck in a loop when I opened my inventory. I brought up the console, and could see it trying to set some variables over and over.

Well, there's a loop in Menumode, but you shouldn't notice it. At least I didn't.

Could you use the following console command and make a Screen of you console when trying to open your Inventory (if possible):
set LPUSFEShowDebug to 4

That just keeps spamming the console, a new one every second or so. I lose all FPS while in inventory with that up.

Looks like it should, but it shouldn't cause a slowdown.
Strange thing, don't know why this happens. What other mods are you using?

On further review, it does appear to be a conflict somewhere. I loaded up a new game with just 1 other mod loaded (alternative start by ship) and it worked just fine. Time to find that needle in a haystack!

I've disabled every mod, checked them all, and the problem remains.

What I'm left thinking is that the mod is working normally, but with a heavy mod list (245 mods, 40 or so more merged in there), and a not so great computer, that the slowdown is exactly what would happen. If I'm right, then this mod probably won't work for me. :(

It looks like one of your mods (245) triggers an inventory change/check every second.

I've disabled every mod, checked them all, and the problem remains.

If I get it right, this is not a valid method to find a conflicting mod.

Maybe you have too much items in your inventory so loading itself takes a long time, but this wouldn't explain why there's no slowdown without this Plugin.
Could it be your Inventory-Plugin?
I only tested with the Vanilla-Interface. Normally, this shouldn't make any difference, but you never know for sure without testing it.

Sorry about the contradiction, I was too tired to make a full post last night. Here's a more detailed experience.

My first test was with my main save game. This one has 190 play hours on it, and yes, a very full inventory. When I would load that save up with this mod loaded in, I get the regular message in the upper left that it found OBSE and Pluggy. Then it would say that it found a KD Circlet on the tail slot, and that this is an armor. That message would spam in both the upper left corner, and the console. If I would simply unequip the circlet (which takes a while), I would get the message spam from the second screenshot.

Then, still using my main save as a test, I would remove mods in groups. First to go, the CM Partners. Test, still the same. Next, all quest mods. Same. Then armors. Same. Game effect changers. Same. I got all the way down to Oblivion.esm, OOO, and this mod before I couldn't load without crashing. It occurs to me at this point that it could be something I have on, so I load up, drop everything I'm wearing, and any misc item that gives a bonus (like the scales of pitiless justice), and I still get the slowdown.

So, now I create a new game with just oblivion.esm, alt start by ship, and this mod. The first time I try it, I believe it works fine because I don't get major slowdown. But when I try it again later, I do notice the console spam. The inventory is a little slowed down, but it isn't really noticeable. When I add stuff to my character, it becomes a little more noticeable.

The only things I can say is that more mods was slower, and more items in inventory was slower. It could certainly be something else, I am using DarkUI'd DarN, for instance. All I really know is that it isn't a mod conflict.

Ok, so now I uninstall Dark UI DarN, and even with my full mod list, and full inventory it works. I lose a few frames, but no more than an even more full inventory would do. It still got hung up on the enchanted KD Circlet in the tail slot, but since I could use my inventory now, I unequipped it and everything is fine.

EDIT: Using DarN 1.32 works fine as well.

So the reason is this armor using the tail slot?
That's something I can work with. :)
Hopefully, I can do sth. against this slowdown.

No, it creates a new skill that works just like the regular armor skills. It stores the skill as a faction, so you can see it on the faction screen.

Is there any way to link it to Acrobatics?

I use oblivion XP, so a skill that trains like the vanilla game skills do (on practice) as opposed to through experience gained just wont work for me.

This kills me, as I tend towards playing a stealth-mage class, and unarmored skills would be a godsend.

I didn't do anything about compatibility issues, yet.
OXP-user can still set the Global LPUSFESkillUseIncrement to 0 to prevent confusion. I don't know if the way I implemented the Trainers is compatible with OXP, but I doubt it. Therefore, I advice not to use them, unless you want to test if they work (if you do so, please report if it works contrary to expectations).
In a matter of fact, increasing the skill is only possible via console command in one's sole discretion.


Linking to the acrobatics skill would be easy, but I want to implement it like the other skills. I already asked in the OXP-thread what I'd have to do; didn't get an answer, yet. :(
Until then, you can use the way in the quote.

Update to v2.2.0:
  • Reduced Spam in Console produced by a massive usage of GetGameSetting.
  • Implemented Timer in Menumode, too.
  • Introduced Spells & Scroll to absorb/drain/fortify the unarmored skill.
  • Implemented Influence on the Skill by Luck & Fatigue.
  • Every Trainer now has a name :)
  • Changed the damage system a bit.

Additionally, I hided a hint in the ReadMe, where you can find the currently only trainer. ;)

I'm not so sure about this.
I guess it won't screw things up, but it won't influence the level of the player or any actor like other skills do.
Testing is the best way to find out. ;)

Compatibility can be created, but the same as with OXP: it's a bit too complicated to do it alone on myself.
I already sent a Message to tejon asking for help, but didn't get an answer so far. :(

Alright I really love this mod, since my character is a cloth wearer for the most part. But when I updated to the new versions suddenly my unarmored skill went from 55 to 10 again... now no big deal cept my butt is now being handed to me hard lol.

Is there a console command so that I can keep updateing but not have to worry about looseing my skill level?

I'm also having the menu mode slowdown, like manymoose described. While I'm in gamemode I see no visible effects (no slowdown) but in menu mode, it gets jaggy. The mouse jumps from point to point, and the idle character pose freezes like half a second once per second.

I see no message spam on the console, though. Maybe is another different issue at all?

It's a new character, level 1 and still with little stuff ... mostly ingredients. I'm using Cobl, and Darn UI wz's inventory.

I'll try to do some compatibility tests tomorrow (cos it's getting late now!!) and get back with new info ...
