[IDEA] Uncompressed Detailed Normals?

I should first say that I have no experience with textures at all, so I'm really not sure if this idea would work or not, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case.

I love using http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10419, but I don't really like the blocky pixel side effect. I know Vanilla also has a problem with blocky pixels, but Bomret's just make them stand out a bit more. "Not really a bug, but since Bethesda used the DXT1c Compression for many normal maps and I wanted to stay the same with filesize, there might be compression artifacts visible on the textures under certain lightning conditions (blockiness). The only thing I could do about that would be decreasing detail, but that would ruin the purpose of this mod. The vanilla normal maps have these issues too." I'm curious if the method used in http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7582&navtag=file/images.php?id=7582&tab=3 can be applied to Bomret's Detailed Normals? "Uncompressed all Landscape NormalMaps including Oblivion landscape NormalMaps (u888 for DTX1/DTX3, u8888 for DTX5) and decreased their sizes by 50% to reduce performance impacts."

Is this a possible project? Or am I being ridiculous?
