Uncooperative Stairs

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:51 am

I'm using the static in_c_stairs_rich_ptall_02 inside an old mansion. The exterior of the mansion has partially sunken into the swamp, so the interior is at an angle. I have my X,Y and Z rotation set at 356, 2, and 90 respectively. For some reason, these stairs are acting more like a slide than a staircase, and I have to jump up them a few times to make it to the top floor. I'm also using trunkbomb's mod tester v.3, which basically skips the character generation section and gives the player 100 on all stats. I thought the sliding stairs may have to do with the angle it's set at, but i'm not sure. Anyone ever have this problem?

I would say it's likely the position. Try to resize the stairs to .5 the size, and add two in instead. That way it's less of a challenge to climb.

It's most likely the position, but I can't scale it down to .5. The static has a peaked ceiling, and it would just make it smaller than the rest of the ceiling. I also have water inside the interior due to the surrounding swamp leaking in. I wonder if this might be a factor. Any other ideas?

You could use Inviso Walls to try and simulate/enhance the steps so that they work again.
Having the stairs at an odd angle probably causes the collision to goof up.

I actually straightened out the stairs, and used mud rocks to hide the gaps in between the floor tiles. It seems to work ok now that it's straight, and the top floor still has that sagging effect.
