I would like to talk about undead people and creatures, and their souls.
Well, wouldn't it be nice if we were to see bonelords again in Skyrim? I think it would be lore-friendly, for example some of them could be located in several ancestral tombs near the Skyrim-Morrowind border. In fact I didn't like them that much in Morrowind. They did nothing, in my opinion, to deserve their ominous name. So why would I love to see them back now?
Because there is something new in Skyrim. Havok Behaviour. Havok behaviour could allow them to use twice as much hands as we do. Couls you imagine a bonelord using four spells at once against the poor Dovakhiin. That would make a real challenge, and provide justification for such a bombastic name.
I don't know whether it's lore-friendly, but would it be desirable to see combat or sneak oriented bonelords? A horrible, massive skeleton warrior, holding two swords, one parrying dagger and keeping his fourth hand to heal himself or to cast fireballs. In other words, I would like to see four-armed creatures effectively using each of their hands. Perhaps it's difficult to make it work, for example for biomechanical reasons - but I think it would provide awesome confrontations and memorable fights...
These bonelords should also, if included, gain the possibility to call several undead minions, so as to make clear that they are lord of something.
I think I've read in some book of Morrowind, though I can't find its title, that necromancers sometimes reinforce the structure of their skeletons by adding metallic pieces to it. I think it would be amazing if such options were available in the game. If we go further, we could imagine a necromancer engraving runes on some pieces of metal which purport to reinforce a skeleton's knee joint in order to make its bearer resistent against flames. Or enchanting these pieces to transform a skeleton into a walking bomb.
Further in this view, one could use alchemistry to make special quenching media that provide these pieces with additionnal properties, or poisons to soak some mummy bandage in.
Necromancy would so require more skills than only conjuration magic.
Necromancers could sometimes face a lack of bone material, and feel the need to replace limbs of their skeletons by tools, (enchanted) weapons, or by limbs borrowed to another species, leading to hybrid skeletons. To come back to the bonelord, some crazy necromancer could have add wings to one of them.
In fact, each of the in-game creatures could deserve a skeleton, a zombie and a ghost (and a mummy?) version. Wouldn't it be nice if you could trap the soul of an imp, and then use it in case of need to summon an imp-ghost into battle? Or if the souls trapped had various properties? For example an fire atronach soul could provide more power to fire-related enchanting, or reduce the cost of enchanting a staff with a fire atronach summon spell...
Finally, could ghosts hold ethereal weapons (that a necromancer could summon and use in battle) or use variations on the usual spells (e.g. spectral fire, etc.) that would also be available to necromancers?
Well these are only ideas around undead and souls, so now let's discuss since this place is a forum.
P.S. Sorry for the bad English.
Verbose.
