hehe, this is an obvious statement, but it would depend how they did it. if they just had a town that was never alive, i'd probably want to see what it was like, prior to undeath. also, you can't really have it over run, think how many there are in any town in any elder scrolls game, wouldn't it be a bit weird if this one had10 times as many?
and finally, if they killed off a town to do it, that could mess up a lot, even with Radiant story...

not if it means 1 of the 5 major towns is really a above ground undead dungeon.

I'm trying to envision a scenario where this is awesome cause it sounds like a workably fun scenario...but all I can think of is slaughtering some local townsfolk by accident and having every guard in town stop attacking the undead hoard and aim thier weapons at me. Cause I totally deserve it.

A Necropolis an underground city of the dead would be kind of neat... maybe with a Dwemer past.

I can imagine some necromancer community populated with undead servants and ruled around a necromancer's guild (mage's guild equivalent) and the whole thing run by a lich.

But if it is all purely undead, no necromancers, than I agree with Alois, vampires make good sense. I can't imagine zombies and skeletons having any sort of intelligence close enough to get organized or form societies.

Sounds like fun, I don't see why not. I like the subtle fact in Morrowind where houses in towns had sixth house cultish areas in them overrun by deadra. A larger similar theme could be used for a town, and could be very fun and even scary.

Can we save an old man trapped in a cage named Deckard Cain? Oh wait.. wrong forum ;) Nah, I really love that sort if idea.. in FACT.. It would be awesome to save a town from an undead invasion and then later on the town prospers because of your interference. Shops open, town folks talking about the hero that saved us all from the undead. We need quests that make you feel like an epic badass hero afterwards. :D

undead are mindless thralls controlled by necromancers they have no sense of community or culture at best they have a pack like relation with a few others of there kind. and liches dont count for they are mortals who willfully turn themselves into undead by means of magic to gain eternal life so they can gain knowledge of all magicka

forgive me if I misunderstood the OP's meaning by this but I thought he just meant overrun by undead, not actually managed by the undead like in WoW Undercity (please for the love of the Nine Divines do not punish me for mentioning WOW, we all know its crap but it was the best example at this time I could give). But just because the undead were created by necromancy/magic does not mean they cannot wander about and cause havoc, though an organized attack on a city/town would be harder to believe unless it was caused by a bunch of really stupid mages and playing with magic they should not have.

Thanks for the info but why is it relevant? The OP clearly stated 'overrun by', mindless, murderous beings could certainly overrun a town, they don't have to be cultured and community orientated to do so.

Edit, ninja'd

Gothic 3 had one (yes I know different series the arch nemesis of TES or use to be) but it actually was decent.

Town was cursed turning all of the citizens who did not escape undead with a lead necromancer at the castle. Quest was simple enough clear the curse and kill the necromancer, also a surviver was in the town as well you could save and he would aid you through. Afterwards he would offer you help if needed and return to the nearest town.

Of course Beth could always come up with a more interesting plot of it maybe even befriending the necromancer by aiding one of his lively servants/apprentices and if you do enough he will teach you new skills. But I do want all of the 5 major cities to be cities occupied by citizens not zombies. But if its not added I won't care, great game for sure.

one thing that I would LOVE, is some kind of quest that invloves being totally STUCK in a town, being forced to survive some zombie onslaught. That would be awesome (of course you wouldn't be stuck there forever)

You enter a small town and everyone is happy and saying hello. They are your buddies! Then you come back in a couple of days and nothing, place is deserted. You make your way to the center of town and hear a noise behind you. You turn around and Draughr are coming at you! Survive and you find the population slain in their place of worship or tavern and discover some necromancer behind it all.

It needs to be a town where you character is able to walk around and mix in even if it is undercover. I wouldn't want to waste a town if it wasn't.

Perhaps an underground or semi underground town would be good. Perhaps a vampire town as someone has said. The thing is if there was such a place then surely the imperials would've attacked it so they'll have to make the story line realistic. May be a town on an offshore island.

It may be better in a DLC style expansion.

I vote for no, but that's because in my opinion zombies are overrated. They're everywhere: Half-Life, L4D, Fallout...Enough with the zombies already. :banghead: Some dungeons and underground ruins with zombies would be okay. :gun:

Edit: Hmm...Skeletons and Liches would be better. :)

At least these are magicalzombies of the traditional sort rather than annoying plague zombies.
