Heh. You may as well just say Cyrodiil is crowded with mods. It's getting harder and harder to find space for things without crossing outside the borders. Frankly I'm amazed my last two village mods landed in untouched space. Scouting about for the next one and it looks promising in the spot I've chosen, but that's only checked against my current load order. After that it'll be nearly impossible to find more virgin territory.

Yep...that's the reason I am working on my tamriel hightmap ( having Valenwood, Elsweyr,Blackmarsh and Morrowind nearly done) . Having new new locations ( provinces ) in the Tamriel worldspace will allow everybody to mod new locations or to contribute to larger projects without joining a team .

for the Elsweyr tower...I will place it on a small island like the Valenwood Tower....

indeed cyrodiil was crowded with locations without any mod...but now it is nearly impossible to place even a small cottage without any conflicts.... :P

I'm downloading Tamriel Resource Pack from Nexus now, so I can eventually install FAR. I notice an optional "OMOD conversion data" file. It is, however, listed as version 1.3. Is it a usable with TRP 1.3.1?

yes no problem...but honestly it is faster to simply drag and drop the 3 bsa archieves in your data folder than to create an Omod. The Omod conversion data is more a relict from the first version with all resources stored in the usual meshes and textures folders....but if you prefer it as an Omod no problem :-)

Hey @ all !!

An updated esp 1.2.1 of Fort Akatosh Redux has been uploaded. It moves the Elsweyr Watch Tower to a small Island to make FAR compatible with "Feudal Empire" and "Thieves Grotto" which were using the same location as the tower. If you don't use these mods there is no need to dl and install this right now...you can wait for the next major update to version 1.3

as far as I can see at the moment a patch will be necessary to make Ilianas mod compatible with my tamriel hightmap ( different to my Valenwood hightmap which was created during testing and requires Elsweyr as a master)...
I will post a first wip screen of my hightmap soon (will try to get the complete shape of the complete landmass first)

yes...I will open an own thread as soon as possible. I can't work too much time on it cause the hightmap editor drives me mad :banghead: ...beside this I am updating FAR and have started two more projects ( "Heart of the Empire" which is an WGT overhaul similiar to Tec and "Industry and Trade" which will add these things in an medieval but lorefriendly way to the cities)

Are there any plans for fixing the way Guards still greet you as a citizen even if your a Legionarre, a fixed animation for the shield cause it's too large and clips sometimes (Still looks awesome on the legionarres whilst walking!) and maybe a one handed spear + shield?

Also I've been land surveying tamriel like crazy over the last month or so and I cannot think of anything south of where you originally had the tower.
In fact even where it was seemed more appropriate ... sorry if I'm giving mixed signals. Kinda meant all that as information alone - although I do appreciate the attempts to maintain a mod without patches.

As for spears - there is skycaptains older mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12611 It makes it so that whatever weapon you are holding is suddenly held like a spear in your left hand and it uses the staff casting animation for the thrusting. It is silly looking with a sword but looks great with a spear or polearm.

Ilianas Elsweyr mod also has cool spears that are handled like swords. they are annoying when you sheath them as the lower end is suddenly obscuring your view - it is sheaths them like a sword. I'd think it would be better the have 2-hand animation as if it were a great sword then it would sheath on the back. The combat looks good with it though.

for the legion ranks...there are no more quests to rise up the legion ranks in V.1.2 ...more will come with V1.3 ( probably up to captain)

for the imperial cult quest...this is a simple collect the ingredients task...get the stuff on the list then talk to Livius Fabrus again...

Well depends on what exactly you want to watch. Although gamesas never really explored it. There could be problems at sea as well. Illegal trade across the shallow water with small boats that have to be monitored. There's plenty of examples you can actually come up with why you would place a tower close to the water. Not all problems are land based. There's quite a few historical places where defenses are placed like this as well. There's quite a large fortress in France i forgot the name of placed near the coast on an island which was supposed to monitor the coastal areas.. later turned into a prison i think.

Plus it does solve quite alot of problems.. future ones as well perhaps.

no problem...this is a forum to discuss mods :-)...for the moment the replacer esp 2.1.1 should do it as it fixes hopefully the worst problems with Feudal Empire and Thieves Grotto

the FAR main file 2.1 has still the tower at it's original location ....for V.1.3 I will have a closer look and then decide what to do....I think providing a patch will probably be the best....

Hmm is there noone that will do spear animations and fix them to make them look like 'real spears' ?though I think Onra will think of something for it somehow :P

A question....

First, I hope this isn't considered a spoiler. I tend to think not, since it's something that occurs at the very start of FAR, and isn't related to any mystery or riddle. Just Legion SOP, imo.

Anyway, as with Morrowind, the Legion issues its recruits a set of gear (and an identifying ring), which must be wore when dealing with Officers. My dilemma is that I carry a lot of stuff with me, including my own set of (very nice) heavy armor. When I switch to the legion stuff (including sword and arrows), I become over-encumbered. To compensate, I enchanted two peaces of Legion gear with STR. They kept the same name as the originals with STR tacked on at the end. Only, when I report to the general he tells me I'm not in regulation.

Is it my enchanted Legion gear that caused this? And if so is it because of the slight name change? It if is name related, it is safe to enchant the gear and retain its original name, or would that mess up something? Or is what I did okay and I'm just forgetting something obvious?

hey....

to be listed on duty ( become a member of the vailla imperila legion faction) you just have to wear the legion insignia ring...you can use any kind of other gear to rollplay your version of an imperial legion member ...be a battlemage, scout or undercover assain...whatever...you only have to wear the legion armor ( only the armor not the weapons) when reporting to higher ranked officers ( as General Esdrecus)...on the other hand wearing the full legion armor gives you a nice bonbus on personality and speechcraft....

if you have too much stuff in your inventory...use the " luggage" ( remember it's a cobl mod) ..you find it in the south east barracks ..there you can store your stuff ( safe) and find a bed to sleep as well...

Thanks for the reply! I think not having to switch weapons (and storing Legion-provided sword, bow and arrows in the barracks) might do the trick do the trick. We shall see. heh
