[Wip/RELz] Under the sign of the dragon - Tamriel heightmaps

Post » Tue Nov 23, 2010 4:18 am

I like to said this is a great mod. This mod make being a sailor fun activite.

However, I am having this odd problem with Black Marsh, Summerset Isle, and now Valenwood. In the distant, these land appeared as mutli-colored block, but, when I'm on them, the surronding are normal. The trees and rocks are normal even at distant, but it the ground that turn mutli-colored. I'm thinking it have something to do with LOD, I'm not sure.

Multi-coloured? You mean, red, green and so on? Do you have a screenshot to show, it always helps when tracking down visual weirdness.

yeah I am using this tool as well...the black squares on your texture map are missing textures cause Tes4qlod can not blend textures from different mods....so if a lod quad is used by different mods..tes4qlod will only generate the textures of one (depends on load order)...so for the valenwood/Elsweyr Lod resources I had to generate 3 quads using the CS...

Try setting the texture size to large if it isn't already and see what happens :)

Set the texture size to large!

That should fix it (the same problem happens in MERP with a texture size set to anything but large.)

Similarly I should note that I ran into a similar situation involving Icon textures that was effecting a user of mine. Something to do with mipmap swatches not being saved correctly or some such. If I recall correctly it was also solvable by resaving DDS files using a program like DDS Converter.

I've got to hand it to you Onra, you've certainly done some outstanding work. Extending the Oblivion heightmap is no easy task. I too had a similar idea in mind for extending the heightmap as well, but unfortunately I still have trouble grasping my hands around using TES4edit correctly for certain things. It's funny actually, I can get Version Control for both the Construction Set and GECK to work but when it comes to some TES4Edit functions I'm a bit lost sometimes.

But anyway I'm curious as to what method you utilized in the creation of these heightmaps. Just looking at one of the screenshots I have to assume it was done by hand?

yeah everything was done by hand using only the CS heightmap editor...take me over a year to come to this point now...

TOTAL panic at this point the Shore Still on my Right the land Changed (think Black Marsh) IN a total panic now Im OUT of Food AND Water..I Finally See IT...The Lighthouse at the Mouth of the Niben IS coming up on my ?? This has probably been asked, but what are your plans for the northeastern areas (the Morrowind ones)?
There's already a mod that details a lot of it, but from my understanding it takes place in a different worldspace and comes bundled with a lot of gameplay changes, so it likely won't be as simple as dropping it onto tamriel.

I don't have any opinions one way or another, i was just wondering what the plan was.

Also, is there going to be a map that at least extends the game map over the black marsh areas?

hey :-)

I am planning to provide heightmaps (in the tamriel worldspace) for all provinces....I have already created a Hammerfell and High Rock map, a big part of Skyrim and as well Vardenfall in the right place...

working on the northern provinces is more difficult and takes more time than it was for the southern provinces.....as it is a real pain to work on, I decieded to take a small break ....

currently I am working on Fort Akatosh Redux V.1.3 (real big update) and a mod called "Heart of the Empire" which will revamp the White Gold Tower....in between I have also created a new version of our Tamriel Resource pack (V.1.4) which will be required for these two releases....

btw planned updates of these two mods will use the tamriel heightmaps for new quests....

We are a very small team...and atm it is more a one man show.... firesparks is very busy with RL work...

so allthough I am working fast it will take some time....

regards

I've got a few questions.

I recently installed Elsweyr Anequina, with the REAVWD Anequina mod, but the region is still green and has trees. Do I need this to make everything look the way it should? Also, what do I have to download? (the heightmap and the Resources, and I need a patch right?)

Sorry about the stupid questions...

do you have the resources, as well as the heightmap and patch installed? install them, use BOSS to set your load order then run the TES4LodGen and that should fix the problem.

I don't have anything yet, since I wasn't sure what to download. I can't seem to find the patch though, since apparently the Anequina page is down on TesNexus.

actually its in the heightmap download, no need to redownload elsweyranequina. just drop the heightmap .esp and the valenwoodanequinapatch.esp in your data folder, boss load order and activate the get them going. dont forget to run TES4LodGen though, its looks waaaaay better with it!

Yeah, that did it. Thanks!

Now, if I could just figure out what I'm doing wrong... (TES4LodGen is coming up with lot of errors regarding the Anequina objects)

hey @ all :-)

A first version of the Hammerfell and High Rock heightmap (including parts of Skyrim) has been uploaded on Nexus. Hammerfell comes with a lot of detailed regions, High Rock and Skyrim have got only basic Lod Regions for the moment. Also in this version the surrounding seas of the new provinces haven't been edited yet (region data) and no pathgrids have been generated so far. This will come with the next version after I have finished the last map ...which will be of course Morrowind including the rest of Skyrim....

Note! If you use UL Brena River, you have to install the provided UL Lod patch ( mesh and textures) which comes with the Hammerfell High Rock LOD Resources download.

have fun :-)

Hooray! More areas for me to stick in my game and then not really use. They'll be there when people make stuff though, and i can always just get high and wander around and then load my save later on and be off the map and have no frakking clue where i am. Good times.
