Under the sign of the dragon -Tamriel Landscapes-

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:35 am

Well, Kiwi Hawk, your map is already great. We just basically need someone with the knowhow to resize and create a working ESP where things line up and everything is set. I don't really know if that's a lot of work or whatnot.

I think I managed to get then not to far off if you make sure the esp is last loaded

I just up loaded a cleaned set (2 version) one to be "Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina" friendly. Well I'm hoping it is and the beach front buildings land in the right place

Onra!

Are you alive still??? :brokencomputer: :toughninja: :whistling: :flamed:

Have you seen the map KiwiHawk did??? This thing is bloody great and should be a mandatory download for anyone who uses your heightmaps!!!!

We basically have Cyrodiil, Elseweyr, Hammerfell, and Valenwood maps all together in elven style! And the rest of the provinces also look fairly good.

Sorry guys

I am very very very busy atm ....released the new version of the Tamriel Resource Pack ( 1.4), working on Fort Akatosh Redux V.1.3 ( major update), created as well two new addons for it ( ranger and legion rider addon) have finished the heightmap for Hammerfell, High Rock and a good part of Skyrim ...currently generating regions for it....improving the regions of the other provinces too ( complete with plants etc) ...have placed Vardenfall at its right position ( which was not that easy) and made a new basic map of the Morrowind mainland...etc etc
also good new for Summerset Landscapes....probably I will be able to use some nice stuff from the Summerset improved mod for it...

however...that is the reason fo not posting so much atm...but of course I have seen and as well dl the maps made by Kiwi Hawk and Igerup...looks really amazing :-)

thx for the hard work on this

regards

onra

OK... Just checkin' up on ya!

Sounds like you are being productive. Now get these things out to us as soon as they are ready - I am looking forward to those.
Also wanted to mention that at some point you made a comment that you MAY put something Fort Akatosh related into one of the other provinces - THAT would really start integrating Tamriel together. The Under the Sign of the Dragon could basically serve as one complete package, but with several modules - Fort Akatosh, Guards fo Cyrodiil, Heightmaps, and Landscapes. It would be cool, for instance to have a quest in Fort Akatosh that requires you to go out to check up on some little imperial settlement in the depth of Blackmarsh, or Summerset.

yeah exactly this is the plan....Fort Akatosh for example makes 3 important imperial factions playable....the data for them is based in our resource pack esm....so we even can create imperial cult, imperial legion or trading company quests without editing FA itself....a lot of possibilities especially together with sides sailing ships.....

have fun

Kia Ora

Great we'er not dead in the water,.. I thought everybody had gone west and felt like I'd hijacked the thread and got everybody mad.

Anyway I did another a clean upload last night that has 2 versions of map in it one has a cut of to map it "Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina" friendly'er
Because I'm not sure to be honest which map is true to Tamriel the Nim-Karte map was the first I found of the Tamriel world with all roads etc and is I believe
from the Arena aera so I believed this to be the most correct rightfuly or wrongfuly. Any I made maps to suit both and a Vvardenfell map becuase that seems
to be being done by some in it's own world space

the basic resources are the Tamriel heightmaps which you can grab here :

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27235

for the ingame map...every cyrodiill map will work but only show of course cyrodiill and not the rest of tamriel ...but I am sure as soon as we have all provinces released including a complete functioning map someone will create a map version including new roads and bridges ( as it is very popular :-))

cheers

you could load this mod no problems but the map is only showing the default game area,... if you look at one of the link I posted you'll see a link to a map I tried to put together
that has Summset Isle and the rest of Tamriel open to travel,.. I'n sorry I wish I had the graphic skills to make a map like that but I don't

Kiwi_Hawk-

Whenever I load your Cyrodiil resized map and use the esp provided by iggey the icons never line up right - the whole map is out of whack. All the icons and information bunched up around high rock.

What am I doing wrong? I load the esp just after the bashed patch.

thanks

Sorry for my absence; interweb was temporarily down for some time. (Ah, the abstinence!!) @Onra; That's some really good news. I'm looking forward to finally have a complete continent to conquer.
@Psymon; That seems strange. Unless Kiwi_Hawks dds is different in size (in pixels) to mine; then it obviously mess up coordinates. But I don't think it is. I must confess that I haven't downloaded Kiwi_Hawks version.

As for parts of northen Tamriel getting cut off; I'm going to experiment this weekend with expanding the Tamriel worldspace in my map plugin northwards and if the map coordinates don't mess up I'll provide a blank template with guidelines for the quads for easier additons of extra landscapes to the map.

My map is sized the same as yours,.. I had to move and resize Summerset to make it fix high maps etc from the mod so thats same as yours too,..

I did a fule map and tried to load it in CS and do cells setting to mak it fit the travel icons, no luck, I wasted a whole and got real frustrated when I got some town on the make and found some that wheren't,
then lost what I had trying to get others lol. I guess I got a trick or two to learn whith that yet. the ones that work I have down size the res of map but left the esp uable size and managed to match icons but its a bit messy at very bottom so I think I'll pull those

It takes some trial and error to get map coordinates to match the map. Not even gamesas got it right. It's mostly the horizontal axis that is hardest to get right. Not so much the vertical. Probably something to do with display aspect ratios.

this is what I have released, there to version both support this mod, one clipped to support "Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina" mod.

I'm working on a full map,.. but as iggy is saying it's hell on broomstick getting coordinates right the other worry I'm having is that people
may not like the lag/slow load time on first load with a full map.

Whats up there is Here

Any thoughts?

the first maps I released are based on your map at 7240x5228 (called cyridillresized.dds) and the full map I'm working on is 6840x4828 (called map.dds)

Strangly enough there quite a lag loading the map file which is smaller.

your so so right about setting coordinates mate, it's like theres a hard lump stopping the travel icons getting over the towns lol, trick seems to be is it bottom lft or bottm right figures for this move
4 choices each time and only one gets things closer a lol,.. still working on it tho only one day so far rofl

I don't want steel Onra's thread here by the way

After all it is about -Tamriel Landscapes- the maps jus came as a means to see Summerset Isle.

this begs the question tho guys is there a reason Summerset was move and resized from the original map ?

You know I found an inconsistency in that not every time was the map not aligned properly - I've had very little game time recently to test factors that could contribute, but no the esp was not dead last - I had Duke Patrick combat mods after it.

This weekend will have more play/test time.

My impression though is that Summerset was made a lot closer to Valenwood though with the heightmaps - not sure why but they do not seem that far apart.

the esp for the maps needs to be last.

I base the placeing of Summerset Isle on the " Under the sign of the dragon -Tamriel Landscapes-" mod,.. I will have another lok how ever at the island size,.. I have dumped a mod on other end so I get a sence of the length from the travel marker I placed

...just to clear up a few things

the tamriel heightmaps are heightmaps of the tamriel provinces, created by me manually, using the CS heightmap editor...not a copy of any existing map ....which is not possible.
they are made lorefriendly/based to work as TES 4 maps in the tamriel worldspace...means they have the right shape and seize compared to ingame Cyrodiil...

let me give you a few examples...the topographic tamriel map which Kiwi-hawk is using, ( and I used as a reference map as well) is a map created to show how tamriel would look like in reality...on this map for example the distance between the IC and Leyawin is nearly 250 miles....ingame you do this in a few hours by foot....or you take the existing lore maps of Valenwood and Elsweyr...if you try to create a heightmap exactly using the lore maps scale , the Topal bay would have only half of the size of what it has now...this would be maybe more lore base compared to some maps but would be absolutely crappy ingame ( of course in the tamriel ws) as you would be able to spit from Leyawiinn to Senchal....btw it would also not be comaptible with Ilianas Elsweyr mod !
there are a lot more of such things and other technical limitations....so you will find my maps close to the existing lore maps, having the proper shape and seize compared to cyrodiil...but they will not be 100 % compatible with any other map...

a full functioning ingame map for the tamriel heightmaps has to be based on their height or textures map...

cheers and thx very much for the hard work you are all puttting in to create a proper map :-)
