Under the sign of the dragon -Tamriel Landscapes-

I have no idea yet, as the name of the whole city changed. :P But we could just settle for Elsweyr-Senchal to keep things simple. Let's just do that!

Great! Now I can have BC all set up and ready for whenever you release :)

Now that Haven has become the city of Senchal I thought it would be nice to give a small update. First of all here's what the UESP wiki has to say about Senchal, which is an excellent starting point to flesh out this city:

This infamous city is the largest port in southern Tamriel. Its sprawl covers the easternmost tip of Elsweyr's Quin'rawl peninsula, a motley assortment of bazaars, taverns, merchant quarters, and open air markets ringed on three sides by its crowded harbors. Senchal is a favorite stopping point for pirates and sea captains seeking to ply illegal or blackmarket goods. Theives are everywhere, as are beggars and Khajiit sugar junkies. Black Keirgo is Senchal's most squalid and dangerous quarter. The air is humid and full of the chimney smoke from rich houses. Much of the city is abandoned or in ruins. In 2E 560 the Knahaten Flu infected the population. Whole neighborhoods were destroyed in an effort to cleanse Senchal of the Flu and have never been rebuilt.

I have already extended the harbor and added a huge new part to the city's exterior layout to try to fit the description as close as possible. I hope it will turn out to be one of the most alive cities, with lots of things going on. But there's still a lot of work to be done here.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the updated harbor part:

Nice work there Star! isnt that a stroke of luck eh, having it be in the location of a city, even if it wasnt intended to be that city? Senchal looks great so far, looking forward to it

I like the pics. If it's Haven or Senchal doesn't really matter that much. As long as it's a new city we get to play around in. :celebration:

I was very lucky indeed, especially since Senchal has a very interresting background story that comes with it. :)

Thanks! I sure hope more "claims" will follow to make the most of Onra's fantastic work, it would be a shame to leave the lands empty, as this could significantly (did I spell that right?) improve the lifespan of the game!

Only if new quests are hooked into things. Have oblivion gates pop up in front of Dune, Senchal, and Rimmen and have to close them for 'allies for bruma,' or add in some new thieves guild and dark brotherhood quests that involve the new places. Maybe addons for each guild that have you go for certain areas. Mages guild sends you to High Rock, Fighters Guild sends you to Skyrim and Hammerfell. Stuff like that, so people don't just go to the new areas because they downloaded them. Maybe tack on some unofficial quests to Kragnir's and Integration. Then, people will show up and see the local content.

Even though I don't agree with Oblivion gates popping up (I find the main quest boring enough as it is! ) I do think it would be nice to see some quests that send the player across the neighbouring lands. But I do find just doing some exploring fun as well.

I just think it would be nice to make it seem like it's all one place, and not the main place and some other places that we attached for the lulz.

anyway as far as quests go, it's down to the people who get permission from onra to build on a new province to do. that, or, once the province is made they give permission for solo or teams of questbuilders to build their own large quest mods into the lands they've created

which is what i'm hoping for

Well, the good thing is that everyone is free to mod the new lands, it's basically a modder's resource that people can use. It's just one big modder's playground, so there can even be various versions of Senchal for that matter. But of course it would make more sense to spread the workload by making "claims" with a central place (a topic or a forum) to keep things organized. I believe Onra is planning on something like that in the future (slap me if I'm wrong here! :P )

This structure also makes it easier for solo modders to work on certain parts, which is just an awesome addition for a modder like me.

Oh...no permission needed from my side....my idea was and still is to provide a complete tamriel map with all of its provinces avaible for all modders ..what ever they want to build and whatever modding skills they have....no permission and no claims needed...
of course I am more than happy to see such high quaility and lorefriendly stuff like Stars city ....but if someone else just want to build a small playerhome somewhere in the deserts of Hammerfell or the swamps of Blackmarsh...this will be fine too...

however to get things a bit more organised..I will open a new thread soon ( as star mentioned)...

cheers :-)

Maybe once the semester's over and I decide to learn how to mod Oblivion, I'll pick a chunk of wherever near the border and make a Unique Landscapes audition (my main issue with sticking mods in the middle of nowhere is that it's a 30 minute horseback ride through nothing. Kind of like driving through the middle of virginia. Nothing but trees, sometimes a thin layer of trees between the highway and the logging, gas stations, and only country music on the radio.

StarX,.. I take my hat off to you mate,.. an excellent creation man,.. I think I'd have to much fear in building a lore based city with a dark past, its (I feel) very hard to get the dark shabby ruiened parts
of town looking the part and keeping the atmosphere and mood coming through, espeseially a city such as you disscribe.

Hope it's giving you as much plessure building as it is us watching it grow

Edit:

I guess to the thought comes to mind as far as Elsweyr's Quin'rawl peninsula goes,..

I'm finding to wee issues here one is the world map I made sizing it to make cyrodil the same size as the original map to get something to work off then scaling it to the Tamriel templates I notice on my
game when I'm (ingame) at the tip of Elsweyr's Quin'rawl peninsula my map shows me as being a long way lower than the land, this is to say my postion marker is not at the tip of the landas it should be
and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or not doing to get this right,.. the cyrodill city markers are in the right place, the where I am marker outside cyrodil is not?

secondly the "Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina" mod seems to have been build on a map with the Quin'rawl peninsula cut off as it would have been before the highmaps so the beach town in that is way inland,
this is why I have two maps in my download,. but this could cause some problems for everbody having to deside which map to use with which mod.

It's maybe better to talk about this now rather than later when it's get messy as it could,... or is it jus me the confused?

Thanks mate! I'm having a very good time on building this city! The ruined parts will be very limited, as I find it odd that a relatively rich city (biggest port in the south!) would not clean up the mess to make room for new buildings after all this time. Black Keirgo, however is a very interresting quarter that will represent Senchal's underbelly very well. :)

Hope you can work out the map trouble you're having, btw.

The Senchal city guard has it's own armor now:

Wow, a lot has happened since I checked this thread! It looks fantastic, and it's tempting me to play Oblivion again since I haven't played it in about a month. The guard armour is quite impressive. :celebration:

I managed to do quite a lot of work today, before going out to eat some fantastic sushi tonight. I brightened up the orange on both the banners and the guard armor, added a Senchalian Warhorse (used by guards patroling the area) and Mr. Siika's cool packdonkeys (had to find the packs in a post from CorePC!). Also planted more trees and plants for the much needed variation.

Enough talk, here's some screenies:

I reckon it would be a good option to have; it would make it feel like Tamriel really is being invaded. But meh, I'm not the one modding it.

in general I think the provinces should be playable before , during and after the MQ ...this means at least Blackmarsh, Skyrim and Morrowind should be under heavy attack by the deadra during the MQ...after the MQ we should slowly see the empire collapsing....

for Senchal and Elsweyr...I have started working on an updated version which will add the misssing roads from Corinthe to Senchal and Thorval, the river Onyx, more detailed region (Tenmar) and creatures ( taken from The Anequina mod)....

cheers

Hm, just like the sandstorms in Elsweyr it would be nice to see some snowstorms in Skyrim. The sandstorms use http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/37-violent-storms/ I believe, which also includes the snowstorm. :)

That's great news, Onra. I will soon be able to give you the final details on which cells will be edited by Senchal. It's quite a big area, it even has a pineapple farm now! :foodndrink:

cool.....together with the very promising looking Rimmen project we have only Thorval and of course some moonsugar plantations missing :-)

btw Fort Sphinx Moth (near Dune at the valenwood border) will be part of the Elsweyr landscapes :-)

Good news.

By the way, I've updated my map to include the Hammerfell/High Rock/Skyrim heightmap section. It's a big dds now, 7240x6428 pixels. Just missing Morrowind now... :whistling:
