[RELz] Underdark: The Realm of Underdark

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:36 pm

I added a couple of shots to Stokers page on tesnexus. One is of Stoker and Saerileth in Veintaur, the City of Dwarves in the Middledark level of the Underdark. Another is of them in the Volcano field where the Balrog is.

These two areas will be visited in TVH.

Nice work. Where is this going?

Up to Aoikani.

As for the REAL location of Fungal Lake.. that'd be for a loremaster to chip in..

The city is named "J'bhulgolboth", which is beneath "Narwell", which is a city on the "Wild Coast", which is in "Central Flanaess"... (I don't know what any of these mean)

http://www.canonfire.com/wiki/images/9/9e/Flanaess04.jpg

So this could very well be VERY far from us? If so, we'll have to handle it with portals.

It's the underdark sea (the name at the moment eludes me) which he will be working with a Koa-Toa city nearby, very small in comparison to Menzoberranzan though.

Unfortunately, a player will have to pass through the The Netherese Caverns where Philock resides, the original Ancient race to ever first occupy the Underdark. Only the last remnants and refugees are left, hidden and prepared to exit their locked away, deep sanctum of civilization.
For those of lore hunters, these people called the Netherese originally created the fearful Phaerim!

Oh, how I wish we had a phaerim :D

Still working on the city. Here's a shot of the statue of Blibdoolpoolp, the goddess the kuo-toa worship.

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/584/crablady.jpg

As I captioned, one pic is brightened via photoshop so you can actually see it, the other is how it looks in-game.

EDIT: Update: Finished the city. All gates to the exterior of the city working. Got the temple built inside. Only thing to do is finish populating with fishy people, make some building interiors.... then the big project, detailing the "outdoors".

EDIT: Update: Finished populating, though they wander oddly cause I haven't pathed the thing yet.

I'll be starting NPC creation and placement to populate Menzoberranzan. Can everyone involved with the devteam assistance, design or construction reply with their ideas of their NPC name, occupation, gender and whatever other information that you feel is pertinent to your contribution to the project so that I may render NPC's within the mod? Anyone that doesn't catch this post will be created and adjusted appropriately. Example would be Najaknevrec's armor contribution therefore, I would most likely create a drow or dwarf slave as an NPC to render his authoring or a tester like Dragonmg would be a wandering adventurer, most likely Silverhair Knight/Drow.

I would say that if you can not use or do not want to use your handle name then a name close enough to identify you as part of the project would be sufficient.

Example: Shadowlance194 could be simply Shadow, drow/thug perhaps?

I sent an e-mail with my request. Though if it has to be closer to my screen name I can make adjustments. "Shadow" would actually be a pretty funny replacement name considering the character... :D

Anyways, I made the statue by mashing together daedric statues. I was going to use other stuff but the textures would be too different (and it's not worth making custom textures/models for).

Blibdoolpoolp usually takes the form of a 20-foot tall nvde human female, with a lobster's head and claws in place of humanoid parts.

Here's a drawing of Blibdoolpoolp, I'm posting the censored version to avoid any annoyance:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y178/MarkusTay/Blibdoolpoolp.jpg

I just googled the pic.

@devteam: The Underdark mod is on "hide" status until further notice. Please do not alter "hide" status for downloads until update v0.59 is released and/or until contacting ShadowLance or Aoikani first for approval.
Version 0.58 is stable!
Version 0.59 is needing immediate product identity adherence.

Got pretty far on the underground sea/fungal lake/whatever area. Home of the -fishy people- :) I got a lot of inspiration from the Gothic series' cities.

Took screenshots. They don't really do it justice cause they're either too dark or ruined with nighteye, but here they are.

(Here's a low-res video slideshow if you don't feel like clicking each one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ1SFdm3F44

Well the whole area is 100 exterior cells. I boxed it in with the x10 cave tileset that way. It can always be expanded since it's a whole worldspace, just knock down a wall and make a tunnel to another part of the cavern or something.

Here's a crappy map I made to keep track of everything:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/584/fungallakemap.jpg

And this is the (kinda [censored]) heightmap I made, with a red box indicating the area I used (so basically the red box is the cave tileset walls).
http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/7113/fungalheightmap.jpg

(The bright "huge mountains" in a circle around it I made thinking those would be my cave walls, but eventually scrapped that idea. Easy to flatten those out if we need more space eventually)

It's a pretty good-sized area, and can be expanded easy like I said. For now I'm just going to detail what I have boxed in.

Going to look up some tuts on LOD-making

I thought I would add this link again for viewing since it will involve the player who downloads Sulteric's The Vampire Hunter (Stoker's Quest)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLcMkAjetz4, although the city is there, only a few dwarves are at the moment. Big project still working on it.

Very Good on the preview video. I am amazed how the city looks in game, although the red-ish ground texture leaves something to be desired. As far as bugs/glitches there are a few I found. The first one is just outside of a building in the third or so section of the underdark. If you walk off the left of the stairs outside you get stuck in a hole. The building had a Monster/mage in it and a fire.
The second was somewhere outside from there. There is a spot where you can swim underneath the wall or something and get stuck under it all. The cell has a set of steps leading into water. Hope this helps.
Also there is a small tear in the wall outside of the kings hall.

Exactly what kind of help do you need with the city? I kind of prefer to retexture things as I am a artist of varied sorts. If you would post or PM (here or the Nexus) me a list of some of the more specific things you might need help with, I can get a better idea of how I can help the best way possible. That is if you accept, of course.

Thanks for the report, Shadow is diligently waiting for those
We do have need for texturing support, can you do weapons, armor and clothing? As well as creatures? Also, if need be, can you reshrink nifs for models (clothes in mind)?

We need help on populating for the city.
his hands are full too, but the report in advance is appreciated when we begin that.

I think I ran into that bug once too, just haven't had time to work on that city. Maybe it's better that Shadow populates the drow city of Menzoberranzan and I do Veintaur? :D

Concerning the Underdark and playable races; their skin tones, classes, eyes, abilities, etc. This is a project that should be begun now. I'm wondering if we have modders out in the community that would be willing to work on this aspect? The modders we have now are very busy on different parts of the project in constructing and adding more material.

[WIPz]: Companion Drizzt Do'Urden for Oblivion, Looking for a team...
Thats cool, Yeah skin tone from artwork of Drizzt shows his skin colour looks like a deep, dark purple, rather then black like described in the book. Iv made mine so that at a distant it looks black but as we get closer it moves to a dark purple shade. And yeah the ANB Panther works really well. Armor and weapons would be nice, Icingdeath and Twinkle are already out as a mod i think. Also for Infravision there was a Night-Eye Shader which turns Night-Eye into heat vision, worked really nicely but for some reason bugged when combined with toggle night-eye effects. Cant wait for this to get rolling. My Drizzt characters not even ventured into the Underdark yet, im planning it for when im at more of a level to defend myself easier.

We need some retexes of some root tiles which may require dds enlarging (similar to Koldorn cave tiles), other than that can you revamp races for us? Skin tones, eyes, hair, classes (and their abilities), etc.?

I noticed the drow npcs get faerie fire, there's probably a lot of npc abilities/traits you can just copy to playable races or MAKE playable. Ever tried just making all the npc races playable?
