Underground basketball court

So this is an area I have yet to completely explore, in fact it was when i was first starting the game out I found it. In the town where you kill kellog, behind the building the deed is done in, after walking some distance i found a bunker with a bulldozer/ crane in front of it. You have to go up to the guard station to open the door. in side there will be a turret followed by an elevator i went in the elevator and after stepping out i saw to my right a wall busted open which leads to a red pipe. Follow the pipe and there will be a button on the side. Press it and the pipe opens and leads to an underground basketball court. there will also be a door and another hole in the wall. the door led to a bunch of synths. So i doubled back and went through the hole in the wall and got jumped by a death claw. At this point im fighting off synth after synth and a death claw (if you try to leave back through the pipe more synths spawn) synth after synth and a death claw in an underground basketball court. It was mayhem. Anyways when the deathclaw initially jumped me i saw a fat man. After a few tries i was able to grab the fat man, out run the synths and deathclaw but barely even got to explore that area more. So, does anyone have any idea on what I'm talking about? If so is it worth it to go back? I'm still not strong enough to take all those guys on head on haha.

I've been there. There's a lot more to that place. Keep exploring it.

That's the Mayors Shelter. If you explore inside, you will find him, and his family. (long dead, of course.) The creature you first run in to is fairly random, the synths are scripted. What they are doing there though, is beyond me. :)

I just walked out of that area. It's the Mayor compound.

Nothing special. A bunch of goodies, a couple workbenches, some holotapes. You'll need a companion with specific skills or you need to max out your own skills. Don't want to say too much.

The other thing is, if you are in good with the Institute, Synth's won't harm you.

I have resorted to that tactic on more than one occasion........ I have found it doesn't work as well as I would like. :) Generally I sprint as far as I can, then try and hide, and take out a couple of whatever is following.... Or, find a perch that isn't normally reachable the the AI. Gotta watch the reach on Deathclaws though....... Their melee distance is pretty friggin' long.

The synths helped to a degree, the deathclaw and a squad of synths duked it out. that was rad to watch.

Oh yeah, some of the random fights that crop up can be stellar. I watch synths, BOS, Raiders, Gunners, and caravan guards go at it once. I just waited till the shooting stopped, and then looted corpses. :)

There are a couple magazines in the bedrooms that you should keep your eye out for, and if you have mines you can lay them down so the enemies die as soon as they spawn, the same goes for the death claw, leave a big pile of mines in the court and let him run out to you, about the only place in the entire game the mines are actually helpful.

This really needs to be moved since no one used spoiler tags.

Aye, that's the mayor bunker. I found a custom made child wheelchair with a Teddy bear sitting in it, at that location (it is just on the other side of a door leading into the basketball court)

You came in through the back entrance though. You should explore it all, some good lore / history there :)

I did a mission for the institute against the railroad, where I was on good terms with the railroad as well and when I walked into the location there were synths and railroad members engaging in a massive gun fight but none were hostile to me....so I just casually strolled through the building and gunfire, achieved the objective and then proceeded to saunter out of the building with a tip of my hat to the warring parties lmao.
