I understand some of you are upset but....

That ship and that sleazy used car salesman smile were going down anyway (that's why the aberrant seacreature in the picture auctioned the IP).

:lmao:

What a lucky guy.

Like I said, I'm going to research what the game is actually like quite heavily once it is released. So I will technically "give it a chance". However, I will not buy the game to give it a chance if what I found from my research to be highly negative.

So you think if an other company had bought the franchise it would be "better" ?

If it wasn't for Beth we wouldn't have this conversation now .

I'm looking forward to Fallout 4.

I've played Brotherhood of Steel and Fallout Tactics. Way I see it, Fallout 4 can't go any farther afield in terms of what makes a Fallout game "Fallout" then those two.

"Better" is the subjective term. If EA bought it ~no; if Obsidian bought it? [Guess]

Troika was working on a title that could be converted to Fallout 3 if they had gotten the license. Bethesda was not the only option; just the one with the most money to toss at it.
The leads in Troika invented Fallout; there would be no one better.

That's the smart way to go about it. You don't want to buy a game you're wary of, after all. Use rentals or even do what I do, borrow from a friend and see if you like it. I've made the mistake of buying a game to try it out (looking at you Driveclub) and it was awful.

It's not different. Per OPs point, this ALWAYS happens with game sequel releases. Same [censored]....different forum.

It stems from the fact that gamers tend to be "fanatical" about their favorite franchises and project some delusion of "ownership" onto a game and when they see things about the development (whether actual or perceived) that concerns them, their natural reaction is to lash out with a, "how dare they mess with MY game and even consider changing something I don't want changed!". While it's human nature, it also is a bit of an unpleasant view into the general gamer psyche (going back to the "fanatical" tendencies).

1. I have no way of knowing that. All I'm saying is: They didn't "save" it from some sort of doom, had Bethesda not been there some other studio would've "saved" it.

2. Well... Yeah... Cause and effect. Doesn't mean I like the cause.

You mean VanBuren ?

In that case it would be "better".(for you)

The fact is that the majority likes the new F4 and are excited for it .

I find this to be a broad generalization that glosses over the issues they have; oft valid points that they would willingly explain in detail; but nobody wants to hear it when it means a change ~back to form, and away from what they themselves want out of it. :sadvaultboy:

Seniority should count.
No.

(But Van Buren would have been better, based on what we know of it.)

*The [current] majority would not have had FO3 to like, and seeing as it's not indicative of the Fallout series prior... What they like seems wholly unrelated to the series.

As I said, "Better" is the subjective term. "Better" for me is a faithful part 3 that builds upon parts 1 and 2; FO3 and FO4 do not; they take of the IP lore and are dressed up with it... but that's it. Otherwise they are wholly unrelated; and what relation they have is strangely skewed.

But I will get fallout 5. Because f4 will be a huge success and people who just complain on the forums are way outnumbered by those who love and play the games. People who really love fallout.

I am so happy bethesda saved the fallout series and ill never forget how many times black isle screwed up (the wait, the promises, the lies, fallout tactics, more wait, more lies, lionheart garbage, more wait then they finally had killed the entire company)

LOL

it was complete garbage, and unfinished garbage at that. They were completely lost.

No thank you to another lionheart, tactics or more empty promises.

Who knows. All of this criticism could have turned into praise had Fallout gone to another company, and those introduced to Fallout by Bethesda would have never known it existed in the first place. Or it could have been much worse under another company. There were most certainly others who had an interest in Fallout, and who knows what it could have been. It could have continued to be a turn-based isometric that pleased it's original fans, could have turned into the most popular shooter around with an entirely different audience, could have ended up a flop.

Alot of people love fallout.

Some people hate bethesda.

Fortunately we who love fallout numbers many many many more than those who hate bethesda.

And this gives me more Fallout 4 (Fallout 5 etc). It makes me so happy

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not but you shouldn't sell yourself on a game until you see it in full. Make Bethesda work for it at least.

You didn't see it; or you would have known that I didn't mean VB in my earlier post.

The leaked demo was what they shopped the concept with ~not the nearly complete game they made before getting chopped off at the knees by Interplay.

There was a description by Leonard Boyarski, that when they first showed off the demo, and the crowd saw the animated vault door, there were audible gasps.

Yes Van Buren would have been better; but no, VB was not what I was referring to.

The thing is that you can't please everybody, some will like version 1 over version 2, others will like version 3 over 1 and 2 .

So yeah it's pretty impossible to please everyone.

Hating Beth isn't the same as hating Fallout .

They just don't like the new games that's all.

F3 and nv are the two best games ive ever played over 25 years of gaming. The most entertaining and full with content.

If i had been offered to buy f4 without ever seeing a video, review etc id buy it instantly. Bethesda has earned that confidence, and much much much more.

But what i have seen is simply amazing. Everything i wanted.
