Understanding Uses of Free Textures in order to mod: Questio

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:13 pm

So I came across a website that hosts free textures and this is what it said:

These (non-tiling) textures are free to use for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. However, these images are NOT for resale (i.e. CD bundles, e.c.t.).

I did look up the meaning of commercial and non-commercial usage of material, but I still cannot fully grasp it; mostly in the retrospect of modding that is. If you are free to use something for non-commercial purposes, does that allow you to use that in mods, does it allow you make and release those materials with your mod, to the public, or no?

Yeah, you can use them in your mod and release it with no legal problems.

Yeah, it means you can use them and distribute them freely or for monetary purposes with projects, but you cant sell the textures themselves, IE, taking 50 of them, putting them on a disc and selling the disc. Or putting them up on a web site for sale.
