Understanding world map, Cells, size, quads, pixel

Post » Wed May 29, 2013 6:47 pm

Hi all

The more I read the more I get confused, I don't understand the concept of the map in Skyrim. So I come to you guys, again.

1 - Imported WorldSpace

WorldSpace with 512 x 512 pixels (example), this corresponds to:

Cells: ?

Quads: ?

And what should I put here (World -> World Spaces):

2 - CK generated WorldSpace

I just create it and edit it to my liking, I have no idea whatsoever of the following:

Cells: ?

Quads: ?

----------

Basically I have no idea how the coordinates system works in Skyrim, I appreciate any help, thanks.

1024x1024 is a 16x16 cells worldspace

2048x2048 is a 32x32 cells worldspace

and go on.

So your 512x512 is a 8x8 cells worldspace.

Quads are used for LOD

I see, thanks.

And what about the image I've post? What do I put there? In that options? And what is the size of a quad in cells?

The 'offset data' is for worldspaces that are parented to a different worldspace, such as the city worldspaces (WhiterunWorld etc). The map markers in the child worldspace will then appear on the parent worldspace's map; the offset lets you shift the markers to a direction of your choosing. You probably won't be needing this feature.

You don't need quads, they're generate when you generate LOD. I think you're confusing quad with cells itself.

Anyway the quad dimension depends on level of LOD you want. A quad can be 4x4, 8x8, 16x16 or 32x32 cells.

About your screenshots, I'm not using it. I'm using TESAnnwyn and oscape softwares to create a worldspace.

See this page: http://www.creationkit.com/Creating_a_Custom_Worldspace_with_LOD#Generating_Object_LOD

Thanks. And Usable dimensions? And should I choose small or fixed?

I think I'm confusing yes, based on the level of LOD, I see. I've used this tutorial to make LOD (it's working):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB2rqH7Ytko&feature=youtu.be

But he doesn't talk about quads, I have to investigate further.

You're not using it? I've created a WordSpace with TESAnnwyn and I have to use it anyways, the new world still appears under World -> World Spaces, did you leave everything blank? Thanks.

First off: TESAnnwyn must be the first thing to to use and it's not used for replacement of an existing mod.

Yes, your new worldspace it is in world -> worldspaces. In my personal experience I don't touch anything related the world like coords and heights. Only the name and water type if necessary, and maybe the location too.

That's what I did and it's working including LOD. Problem is world map, all I get is some clouds and some statics, I think the problem is related to that options.
