Ocean water causes dehydration, i imagine the pumps are for filling up the aquarium or just bilge pumps to keep The Ark afloat. They probably do desalinate ocean-water (wouldn't want to rely on rainwater), but it wouldn't be a part of the aquarium, and it would always be running, those pumps aren't in use.

If you were dying of thirst from lack of enough water I'm sure you'd drink ocean water.

well if you did you'd die faster and if your that thirsty to commit suicide on water your probably already doomed so might as well :drool:

If you were dying of thirst from lack of enough water I'm sure you'd drink ocean water.

If you dont understand, your kidneys use up more water filtering out the salt than you gain by drinking the seawater, so it actually dehydrates you more. What you CAN do is mix Freshwater and saltwater in a 2:1 ratio to stretch your water supply and keep some salt in your diet that will help you absorb the water, like Gatorade does.

Fun fact, a single 8oz glass of water from the dead sea will kill you if you drink it.

why do you know that "fun fact":eek:...im keepin my eye on you Dr.Kitty, though i guess you'd be nice to have round incase i ever fall adrift for a couple hundred miles in the ocean. :happy:
