Underwater Home Mod and animals

Post » Fri Apr 04, 2014 7:20 am

So... This really cool mod by T4- Malkion and M3rvin is amazing, but there seems to be little info about some of the features of the mod. My question in particular has to do with the animal cages.

I used the debrainer and the zapper on a gecko, and now I have the gecko in a cage inside the home's laboratory. The problem is that I can barely see him, since the cage is beneath the floor, and there seems to be nothing I can do with him at all. Does anyone know how to get the animals to at least be seen, or is there some control I'm missing that allows the player to gather eggs or something? I guess I'm asking if there's a function to having a caged animal in this lab?

I haven't found any controls or anything for the cages, but I suppose that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Also, I don't see the point of the VR survival pod. It takes everything you have and dumps you in a very plain (and dark) environment, but nothing ever seems to happen, and I've never manage to find a way out.

One of the problems with this mod is there have been so many versions of it, each with a slightly different layout. This is the house mod I use exclusively and i have never seen the animal cages that you are asking about. They are supposed to be in the lab with the plants, maybe I have never noticed them. I am not sure if he ever did much with the VR Pod, as in my game it just gives me a bunch of keys when I activate it.

Supposedly, the Lab Terminal has a tutorial on how to use the tools like the Debrainer and the Zapper. I never have used those things myself. Mostly because the Scanner that is supposed to fix your load out does not seem to work (it maybe because if you drop below the qty Scanned it resets everything, or it could be a mod conflict)

Do make sure you get the Extended Sorters, as it fixes some quirky issues with the Sorters in that place.

The tutorials are there on the lab terminal, but as far as animals are concerned, it only tells you how to use the debrainer and zapper. If you walk into the lab from the carrefour side, the cages are under that little area that protrudes out to the right just across from the steps leading down into the plant area. You can look down through the grates into the cages, but there seems no way to do anything beyond that.

I stopped using the scanner, and I only sort things like food, drinks, crafting materials, chems, and plants on their individual sorters. Those work okay, but my armor and weapons kept getting lost when I'd try to use the scanner. It also removes weapon hotkeys if you sort weapons. Oh, and things tend to get lost if I use the mainframe "sort all" function, and unique modded items can be problematic as well.

I had almost 500 Microfusion cells turn into 5 microfusion cells the first time I used the mainframe sort function.

I really like the display functions though, it's handy to just grab a cram or fancy Lad's off the shelf, a coupler of bottles of water from the display rack, and head out the door.

Get the Extended Sorter mod that is linked on his description page, it makes the sorters work like they are supposed to. And, it supports items from other mods like the magazines from NV Interiors and mods that add weapons.

Also, if your missing a unique or custom item, check all the cabinets in the Armory, as I have seen things go into places that I did not think they should. However I have never lost a vanilla or major mod weapon yet. There is still the issue with me losing my Stimpack Hotkey, even if I don't sort Chems.

Note, anytime a weapon/item is removed from your inventory, the hotkey associated with it goes bye bye. Same thing happens with the Casino's and the Atomic Rush. Which is why I use the Better Casinos mod that stops the weapon confiscation at these places. But, I have gotten into the habit of adding the weapons and armor one at a time to the bins and cabinets, usually because I only have one or two of them to drop off.

WRP is a great mod to use with the UH as the display wall shows off the new textures brilliantly. Also, the WMX mods show up on the weapons on the wall too. One of the things I like about this mod is it's support of other mods (with the Extended Sorters). I have not had much success putting things on the shelf because the game physics seems to slowly drop things below the counter over time as you enter and leave the rooms.

And, it took me 2 years to find the Sorter and Display for the Gold Bars from the Sierra Madre, have you found that yet? It's near the Money Sorter in case you were wondering.

I have the WMX mod, but I don't know what WRP is, I guess. When I downloaded the UH, I checked the link to the extended sorters, but got a message that no files were available and the mod was no longer supported.

When you say things drop beneath the counter, are you placing them by hand, or using the "stock" function? I haven't noticed any such sinking, and all the racks and shelves are (unfortunately "were" for my DiD character) full. I haven't found the Sierra Madre display, but I hadn't been looking for it. I haven't yet made it through the Sierra Madre, my DiD character was the first one to try.

Yea, he has an old link, as this guy took the ES mod and then added Mod Support, so here is the link to what you need

I just loaded up my game and captured some animals. It's kind of cruel as I had to hurt them (Animal Friend kind of guy). Basically, the cages are just a Zoo. I did not grab more than one species, so I don't know if they would fight each other or just hang out. But, your not going to interact with the critters.

Hey, thanks for the links.

It seems more than a bit pointless to put animals in the cage if you can't do anything with them. If I'd been doing the mod, I'd probably have set the cages to raise or something, so they could be seen and worked with in some way.... At least that's what I say from my position of lazy indolence, anyway.
