Underwater Treasures and Exploration Finally!?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:15 am

I have always wanted more underwater enemies and Exploration in Bethesda games whether it is Fallout or TES series.

With Boston as the setting and the holding your breath perk we saw in the Endurance video do you think underwater enemies and Exploration as well as ruins under the water will be included? I haven't seen much on the subject but hope it is included.

- I also hope they put in a giant mutant squid but that is unlikely -

Water-seal the power armor and it becomes a diving suit! :D

Maybe there'll be a UMU attachment kinda like the jump jetpack?

This would be pretty damn cool.

Other than that, underwater enemies would be annoying. Guns don't exactly work well underwater. Though that's not to say they can't science-magic an explanation.

Nothing like a little radiation-exploration! I, for one, am not diving into any irradiated cesspools.

I was largely disappointed in NV when I found out there was really nothing worth looking at or doing underwater. That rebreather was pretty useless aside from grabbing loot easier in flooded areas

If it is after 3, then we should be safe from that, no? NV we were able to go in just about any water and not get rads. With all the concept art including water and maritime stuff, I'd think the water isn't irradiated anymore

I don't think it fits a perk. Fits the amount of time we can hold our breath does fit endruance though, sort of like how Strength increases carry weight. Base time is say 60 seconds and every point extends it by 10.

Would be interested to see more water life, 'lurks are personally one of my fave critters to hunt. Not a fan of the Kings though

Well there's always a spear gun or a harpoon gun. To use underwater.

I like the idea of underwater exploration. Not really interested in underwater combat though.

I think you'd be wrong to assume that. IIRC no bombs hit directly in the Mojave (I could be wrong, but FONV isn't exaclty Canon anyway), while a few bombs did hit Boston. As such, I'd expect Boston to be in almost as bad shape as DC. There will probably be Radiation Diving Suits, or something like that, though.

Then use the power armor diving suit, with its integrated NBC protection. :D

Don't forget what lurks in the murky waters of New England: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_One

Also, a nuclear submarine was sunk near Innsmouth.

Wait...I'm getting my lore mixed up :whistling:

Project Purity didn't purify water across the entire East Coast, just within the Tidal Basin - which was really irradiated compared to most other places in America. I doubt we'll get any radiation from ocean water, or even rivers, but most other places I'd expect to have irradiated water.

Underwater combat would definitely be weird. I wouldn't expect much in that regard, honestly, although some melee and something like a harpoon gun might be nice. Energy Weapons would get really weird underwater.

I do believe it was explicitly stated somewhere in Fo3 or its DLC that the ocean was just as radioactive as the rest of the water.

I agree it would be tricky to do underwater combat.

They could easily have guns with under water attachments as we can modify guns and we are 200 years into the future. Knives and harpoon weapons are also possible. As some on this thread have said power armor could be a diving suit with an array of underwater weapons. The jetpack could be a type of thruster.

The Infinite Ocean that surrounds the FNV map is slightly radioactive.

Although that may not say much about the ocean water in F4.

One of the tracks released yesterday, along with the main theme, is called The Last Mariner.

That’s a huge sign right there water plays a huge part of the game.

Also people assumed the bayonet was for melee, which it could be, but it would also provide some underwater protection.

I wonder if the new Cryo-energy weapons will be the "underwater lasers" for Fo4?

i would like underwater exploration myself, but their NEEDS to be a bioschock reference of some kind if they are going to go that far, like a big daddys suit, or perhasp before you to to edge where you cant go anymore, you will see the lights of rapture city or somthing.

I don't know about RUINS under the water, unless it was a drilling platform that fell into the drink. Or water levels rose. Maybe a couple ship wrecks down there.
