[WIPz] Unholy Darkness

just wondering if the samples in the videos will be the final Voice acting? They dont really sound quite right to me, I dont see the voices suiting the vampires, sound more Daedra-ish to me.

They sound decent enough to me. I doubt they'll ever sound perfect though. That's just how it goes with non-professional voice actors. :D

Mhm but not always, I was involve with a machinima project a while back that never got finished but we got some pretty good voice actors from machinima.com for free.

and what exactly do vampires sound like lol? Some of the videos aren't the highest quality so some of the sound is distorted, but I think they sound great. Plus its madmole's interpretation of how they should sound, in a world of demon and daedra I'm not surprised that they sound similar. and I know he is a professional modder so I wouldn't rule out professional voice actor either haha.

I'm pretty sure madmole said he would start working on it again around christmas, not that it would be done. There might still be the possiblity of a beta of some sort though, he mentioned polishing up what was already done, but who knows. Either way something will happen haha

If horses are afraid of vampires will the vampire be able to mount them?
Yes, just hide your vampire form using the mask darkness ability. But why ride a horse when you can outrun a black horse? Actually you don't get that fast until you are a vampire for quite a while, but its quite fun booking through the woods and jumping high through the trees like the hulk or something. It drains you though, so be prepared to feast on stuff if you use your speed to regain used up blood.

Then delete the mp3 files and listen to silence like basically 99% of all the other mods. I think they rock, but thats how I wanted them to sound. Not all the vampires will sound that way, only the ancients and more powerful ones in vampiric form, which was inspired from blade trinity "drake" and a few others where the lead male vamps had low evil demonic voices.

No, I'm set to start working on it again around Christmas. Sorry but RL has sidetracked me and if I can't work on it like 5 hours a night I'd rather not work on it at all. That's how I roll with my obsessive compulsiveness. Actually I will start on it again as soon as I finish this other project which SHOULD be done next weekend, so hopefully in about 8 days I can start again.

What is this other project exactly? Or is it not an Oblivion mod?

Been a bit, so I thought I'd just check back and see what ( if any ) progress had been made. Seems your busy with a RE deal :D Sounds good...especially in today's slow economy and hope if goes well for you MM :D I'll check back in a month or so and see how things are progressing. Meanwhile...I'll go play some Dragon Age for a few weeks, I'll be burned out with that by the time you've finished this Vamp mod and that will be a good thing and time to reinstall Oblivion and go from scratch with this mod as numero uno in my thoughts ( and not far from that in my "load order" LOL ).

Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and all that MM !

Thanks. I'm just about done with the RE project so I'm looking forward to having my evenings back and just working days again. Maybe I'll even reclaim weekends, that would be awesome for a change. What I love about Oblivion is you can walk away from it for a few months or whatever and then there's a whole new slew of mods so you can recreate a whole new experience every time you come back. Sure there's the same old quests and faces but you can change a lot to where its quite a bit different and see new things, etc. I'm still discovering new stuff the stock game had hidden from me when I play a different style, etc.

Very true. I've put a good number of hours into Oblivion, but have yet to play a true mage character (with or w/o mods). I just haven't got around to it....maybe soon though.

May I? Well I suppose that's what this thread is for! MadMole you inspire me. If this mod comes out to be just a fraction of a percent of the craziness I've created for it in my head than it will be one of the highlights of oblivion modding for the rest of time. In the future entire games will be based on the freeware known as unholy darkness. I started working on a vamp mod recently and this kindof stopped me in my tracks... I want to continue but I know that I personally would use your mod over mine...

As to the actual purpose of this post... Merry Christmas and God bless! If it's in the power of humanity to put this much work into a project that you aren't even going to gain anything from.. Well you get the point. Good luck and I wait patiently for your work to be finished.

Hey thanks for the encouragement.

On a refreshing, exciting note.... I actually cracked open Unholy Darkness.esp and worked on it tonight. I started on the vampire changes to Rosethorn Hall which you can buy from Silius or whatever the gruff guys name is. My last esp was dated aug 30. I can't believe its been in hiatus for 4 months. I'm pathetic. Sorry. I really am. RL can be as brutal as daedra sometimes, lol. But I am ready to dig back in and get things done. I might not be able to rock as fast as before, I do need to keep everything in perspective, but I hope to at least make some progress here and there and maintain some sort of groove. Now I have to relearn everything, lol. No its not that bad, I haven't forgot too much, but it does take some time to get your bearings in the CS and in the scripts to get productive again. Thats why I'm just going to start with some building and then get back into the quests and scripts later.

Take your time man, I've been following this for a while (under the radar). I'm looking for a new vampire experience (Having tried many others) and this looks pretty awesome, right down to the voice acting! (Pretty rare in many mods).

Keep plugging away, this is looking excellent.

I agree take your time. When i havent modded in a long time ( even like two or three weeks ) and i try to go back to my mod i try to go as fast as i have before. Everything broke and i had to start over. I ended up forgetting why and where my scripts were running around and i was missing a lot of scripts and had a lot of double scripts. Take your time when commming back from a mod, make sure everything youve done you have not already done and it does not have any conflicts.

I joined the forum just so I could follow this mod.

It sounds like it's shaping up nicely, sounds like it could rival embrace from morrowind!

Keep up the amazing work!!

Thanks night shade.

Well tonight I made good progress on the Rosethorn Hall vampire addons. Its going to be quite the awesome secret underground vampire lair when I'm done. After that I'll probably focus on designing the covenants fortress/castle/lair and then hook up the quests to get involved with them, etc.

I have a quick question about the secret vampire lairs in your house:
Are they pretty big areas or just a small area to call "home" as a vampire? I also assume the more expensive houses have better/bigger ones, yes?

They are comparable to each house they are meant for. So yes the most expensive houses have quite the large hidden lairs, while the imperial city shack has a small basemant.

Yes. They grow in size & quality as well as functionality. And the newest addition in Rosethorn Hall is compatible with Eyja.

Glad you have done your homework! You probably know as much about the mod as I do, lol. I appreciate your answers :)
