Unique Armours

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:10 am

What I have noticed in Oblivion was there were many Unique Weapons you could get through quests but not many Unique Armours (except with expansions). The only Armour that I saw was different was the set you get after completing the main quest, which was weaker than Daedric. So what are your opinions, do you think there should be more unique armour sets in Skyrim?

I'd definitely want to see this. If not by having the daedric set spread out in various dungeons etc. as in morrowind then I'd love some kind of famous armor set/sets with it's own model and special stats that you really have to look for and hunt down through dungeons, quests/stealing and the likes ^^

Edit: Almost forgot the Knights of the nine armor, so yeah, something similar to that that's not MQ related and not all completely quest related hopefully ^^

I'm hoping that some of the unique armors in past games will make a comeback in Skyrim, as well as probably new ones, and also, since they can't fit all the variety of artifacts I want to see into sixteen Daedric Prince quests, I want to be able to find unique artifacts in dungeons like in Morrowind, instead of only appearing as quest rewards like in Oblivion. Not that i don't like getting unique items as quest rewards, of course, I just don't think it should be the only way they're made available to the player.

Also, one thing that bothered me about artifact armors in past games was that they generally came in the form of only one piece, for example, rather than Dragonbone Armor, we only had the Dragonbone Cuirass. The end result was that I often didn't want to wear artifact armors, despite their power, because I couldn't find items for other slots that looked good with them. For these sorts of items in Skyrim, I hope to see full sets of them instead of just the armors, if Bethesda is worried about that causing balance issues, they can distribute the enchantments around the different parts, or have only one part be enchanted, or, and this final solution would be the least desirable, I think, having these items be full body armors, like the Arena raiments or Dark Brotherhood armor in Oblivion. I want to be able to wear the Savior's Hide without becoming a complete fashion disaster in Skyrim.

Multiple unique armours however as you say, they had worse stats than daeric so they was uninteresting.
And it’s quite possible to make the cuirass unique but in the same style as existing armours so you can use it alone.

Yeah I want a crapload of unique armors and weapons :toughninja:
It would be nice if unique pieces of armor would match the regular armor a little better though. I remember in Morrowind you looked so tacky if you filled every slot with the best piece of armor.

I think the unique armors are a very important reward to completing certain quests. I just hope they are leveled correctly to benefit your character.

Fists need a return.

I'd like more full sets of unique equipment, and more truly unique one-piecers that fit in with other sets. It svcks getting the Savior's Hide and having to wear it with Glass armor that clashes with it. Make all sets useful at all levels (their differences being practical/functional with pros and cons).

Ebony Mail
Lord's Mail
Dragonbone Cuirass
Fists of Randagulf
Eilodon's Ward
Auriel's Shield

Of course I'd like to see some of the time Bethesda's spending deciding what skills to "merge" and what to "streamline" get put to use adding things instead of removing them.

Well, seeing as both have existed in the past, I see no problem with having both. :P

yes. there was in OB to some extent but thats depending on how far you are willing to stretch the definition of unique. I would like to see the ability to custimize armor to some kind of extent. like being able to put shoulder spikes on steel armor.

armor is a lot harder to make then weapons though, thats why there were not that many unique ones, although they could add on a few things, like they did with that madness helmet you got for a quest reward in SI

I think the most unique items should be Artifacts found by the player, similar to the way it was handled in Morrowind and Oblivion. That way, when you find an artifact you actually feel like its something different and something epic.
