maybe Ring of Phynaster

Woah! :ooo: That is wonderful! Thank you!

EDIT: A few things I noticed:
- the inside part of the ring's band has an odd stretching of the texture in two parts (mostly, on either side of where the ring's setting is). If you'd like a screenshot, let me know.
- the material properties for the entire ring band are set... not sure how to describe it... backwards? compared to the other material properties. In other words, I usually set the bottom two triangles black, and the upper two white (most TESIII meshes are like this). But, if I do that with the ring band, then the band turns very dark. If you'd like screenshots, let me know.

Almost. The material properties are a-okay, but I don't think I described the UV map part well enough. Here's a picture of what it looks like: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/ring_thing.jpg. You can see there's a portion that is stretched?

This is one of my absolute favorite Morrowind mods without a doubt. The new designs feel like they should have been part of the vanilla game!

the UV map, also shown in the UV editor of NifSkope, looks different.

the UV map, also shown in the UV editor of NifSkope, looks different.

That's because I took that part of the UV map and expanded it vertically, and then expanded each section horizontally, so that it would encompass more of the texture (and not look so blurry/pixellated).

I guess it is because you used a different texture (i suppose mine is the original and yours a modified texture?)

ANyway, I reUVMapped the ring and splitted the band into 2 parts (exterior and interior), so it would be easier to modify them in NifSKope, if you wish to tweak the UV map

Ah, excellent, no stretching! :D

It wasn't a modified texture - it's the tx_border_metal_gold_04.tga texture (used as the rim texture for the grand soulgem).

EDIT: one last request - and you don't have to do it - is to make the outer band of the ring be like the inner band. I'm not sure how to phrase/describe this any better. Um. As it is now, the outer band's texture is multiplied/repeated all over it. Am I making any sense?

Sorry to be a bother, but as I was experimenting with different textures, I noticed this: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/ring_upsidedown.jpg. At half-way round the outside band, the texture flips upside-down.

I'm having trouble picking a texture for this. I was thinking of doing that dwemer deco like in the screenshot, but then I found the tx_b_n_breton_hairpin00.bmp which I fell in love with. :ahhh:

I love the Akatosh, Septim and Caius' Rings, they look exactly the way the ought to! The wind ring - sorry, can't remember which that is, I opened all the screenshots at once - looks amazing as well. The colors are particularly lovely on that one... And I really like the two gemmed ones. They look completely believable, not at all like something "modded". I can't believe how much you've managed to improve items I really thought were spectacular the first time you did them!

I love the ring you made, Arcimaestro, as well. It looks superb and fits perfectly in with the other items in the mod.

Oooh, nice! Would it be possible to make the UV for the gem and the setting to be round instead of oval? I'd like to experiment with the tx_ring10.tga texture.

Been working slowly but surely. For every new thing I make and share in the thread, there are about 3 to 10 revisions or attempts that didn't make the cut.

Looks very nice :). Kinda annoying that MW doesn?t allow to see rings or belts or amulets on character (if you don?t set them up as gauntlets or pauldrons...).

here is an amulet I linked a while ago. Now it has an aniamted texture.

http://arcimaestroantares.webs.com/Amulet06.nif

and here is a poor ring of kahjit

http://arcimaestroantares.webs.com/khajiit1.nif

I must admit, it is very poor :(

If you may find a better texture for it, I may rework the uv map as necessary.

:D I'm going to have fun with this. So, say I want to add a texture (with transparency, no animation) on top of another texture. How would I go about doing that? For instance, say I want to place the vfx_letter02.tga so that it appears to be "on top" of the texture I'm already using. I'd have to duplicate the NiTriShape, right? Then what do I do?

It is rather difficult to work with. To be honest, I was envisioning using gold textures (like tawny lion fur!). *scratches chin* It's late at night where I live, so I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. What are your thoughts on a ring of Khajiit, and what it should look like?

then move a bit the trishape that should have the new texture, so that it covers the other trishape, and add the new texture to it.

I have not great ideas about it. I don't have great knowledge of the original textures, and I don't know which one could be good to use. If you find any that would need a rework of the UV, I may rework it.

Noooo... no, I can't magically rework game-engine fundamentals. :( That's something for those game engine projects to tackle.

Your jewelry will look pretty in your inventory and on your shelves, though. :D

@Anteres: I'll think of some ideas and post them here when I formulate them. Which might be a day or more (very busy with lab write-ups. :ahhh: ).
