[RELz] Unique Finery Replacer

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 12:00 pm

I'm not quite thrilled with about the look of the band on the Sanguine ring; looks just a bit... chunky around the gem, and I'm not sure I like the stone look of the band. Everything else looks stunning though. The necromancer's amulet is great, and Foe Grinder is exquisite. Seriously, I told my husband I wanted a real version of that for Christmas.

Looking good overall! :goodjob:

Hmm. Should I stick with my original sanguine rings? I can also dig around the pile of mesh resources and see what I can come up with. I might have to play mix-n-match with the mesh segments, as I don't really have a whole lot of meshes I can play with. :(

I think it's just that particular texture with that particular mesh that doesn't look quite right to me. But I really loved the old versions of the sanguine rings, so I could just be being picky; I'd definitely wait for some more opinions before you rehaul it totally. ^_^

Okay, some updates:

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/ring_sanguine_v3.jpg. How does it look?
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/amulet_agustas_v2.jpg

Now I have two amulet meshes and I don't know what to do with them:

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/amulet_bear.jpg

What should I do with them?

Definitely like the Sanguine ring, is that one of the Daedric ruin textures on it? I'd think one of the darker Daedric stone textures might look a bit better, a little more contrast and darkness, but it's quite nice as is.

This one makes me laugh, in a good way. Another piece of jewelry I want in real life.

I kind of like the way they look just with the wood-like texture you have on them. Looks like something a Nord would whittle out while waiting for a blizzard to pass. A stone texture might work too for the same reason; like little Zuni figurines.

Perhaps the Bear Amulet could give strength and athletics bonus and the Wolf Amulet could give speed and stealth bonuses (or something along those lines). They could be unique artifact amulets hidden/buried in a barrow (as if they belonged to the clan member entombed there). Just a thought (if'n you were not seeking to replace something directly/pluginlessly with them ;) ).

EDIT:How about applying the textures from the "Elemental Stones"; they have those nice carved symbols on them, so it might or might not translate onto the wolf and bear figures (woth a try, though ;) ).

Nice amulets :)

Perhaps use the wolf one as the Amulet of Infectious Charm? Hrothmund got killed by a wolf, so his amulet being in the shape of one would be suitably ironic (as is the Aundae's sun ;) )

I think those two amulets would be best for the Amulet(s) of Hunter's Speed/Strength, i.e. the amulets you get when you fight Hircine (non-Guile form)

I live everyone's suggestions as to what to do with the bear and wolf amulets. I'll see if those stone textures look good on 'em. I also like your idea, Karpik, of making the wolf the amulet of infection charm - I had forgotten about it being in Hrothmund's barrow.

With Psymoniser's help, I've been doing a rework of the whitewalker robe. It's not as... white... as my first one, but the UV maps are much better, and there's less slop (from me) overall. Let me know what you think:
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/robe_wwalker_front.jpg|http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/robe_wwalker_side.jpg|http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/robe_wwalker_back.jpg|http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/robe_wwalker_top.jpg

@C-Euro: I was thinking that too, but I also like the meshes I have for them right now - the neat one Arcimaestro Anteres made, and the mesh that was used for the Totem of Claw and Fang. Decisions, decisions! :ahhh:

EDIT2: The stone monoliths that you go on to repeat Aevar's journey, the symbols are part of the mesh, so there is only one rock texture and no symbol on the texture. I can try making a second wolf amulet, maybe try to flip the wolf 180 degrees and put a different wood texture on it, and it and the bear could be the amulet of hunter strength and speed? Maybe alternate meshes? Hrm...

A different take on the Amulet of Gem Feeding: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/amulet_gemfeeding_v2.jpg. Personally, I like it better than my first attempt (as seen http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/amulet_gemfeeding.jpg). I left it with the regular gold chain of the vanilla amulets, so it kinda fits in a bit. And yeah, I squished the gem so that it doesn't take up a lot of space vertically.

Also, I kinda need some help. I want to make a ground mesh for the new chodala boots I'm making. Silaria's resource came with a ground mesh, but the boots are standing straight up. Despite my best attempts in Nifskope, I just can't seem to make them cross each other at the ankle like the other boot groundmeshes (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Armor,_by_Body_Area#Boots). If someone proficient in Blender or another modeling program would like to take a shot at it, I've got the mesh http://www.mediafire.com/?meyxijmntzm. :)

Awesome.

'Twould be nice if a mod could be made that made rings, belts, and amulets visible when worn.

http://www.mediafire.com/?mezyejocz4y is a ground mesh for those boots.

I like the new version of that amulet, makes it look more "soulgem-y" than the first.

Thanks. :) Psymoniser also contacted me with a groundmesh for the boots. After comparing the two, I think I'll go with your interpretation of the groundmesh (Please, Psymoniser, harbor no ill thoughts!).

@Dragon32: That's an adjective I haven't heard in a long time. :) How erudite of you! :grad:

You're correct, it is slightly out of focus. I agree, though, all three are beautifully designed. Alaisiagae, you really should take up metal casting. :D

I think it is because the original texture is so small, and I've zoomed in (in Nifskope) to get a largish picture. I'm sure it won't look as blurry in-game, due to amulets' relatively small size. It uses a mesh (and the texture) from the Daedric Crescent artifact, so texture clarity will improve if you use a higher resolution texture (as from a texture replacer). :)

I've been tweaking some of the original amulets, and saw where I could make some improvements:

Okay, I've made some progress:

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/ring_ienas_glass.jpg - how do I make it so that the mesh is slightly transparent like the mesh for the Raw Glass ingredient?
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/ring_ienas_ebony.jpg
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/belt_ienas_suede.jpg with real Cliff Racer textures

And now some good news: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/amulet_shells.jpg. The bad news is I can't think of what amulet(s) should use this model. I was considering the generic magic amulets for water breathing and water walking.
