Unique Vampire Abilities

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 6:00 am

What unique abilities do you think could be granted to those who become vampires of werewolfs in skyrim? (if they are in the game at all)

In Oblivion, being a vampire only gave you some stat boosts and an altered skin tone. there were a million ways one could have boosted their stats without having to burn in the sun for it.

So in Skyrim, if vampires are in, then there should be some unique advantages to being a vampire or werewolf. whether it is a game mechanic or some sort of aesthetic flare that you can only obtain by becoming a vampire and suffering all of the burdens that came along with it. some tangible ability or appearance that could not be mistaken for anything else.

So, what could some of these advantages be?

an easy one to implement would be a few unique kill animations where your vampire character feeds on his enemies.

or perhaps increased speed since athletics is no longer in the game. nothing game breaking of course.

To be honest, I'd just like to be able to go out into the sunlight.

Not being able to go out in the sunlight should be a trade off for some awesome ability you have as a vampire that you cannot get in any other way

I really hope they bring back werewolves. That is my favorite part to Morrowind. A good advantage for a werewolf is ignore armor rating when attacking considering you have nothing else to use to attack, high stat boost towards sneaking and speed as well would be cool. That way you can stalk your prey and have a special ambush ability.

As for Vampires what would be cool is be able to infect others instead of just feasting, which could also work for werewolves. What can happen is you get an option to feast, infect, or kill. That would be for vampires. As for infecting others to be a werewolf would only work if you wound someone and they either flee or you do. If nobody flees, only one will remain standing and feasting.

Id like to be able to turn into a flock of demon bats and fly around like a dark cloud... :)

Who knows, there are so many ways vampires could be cool in a video game but no one seems to want to do it right :/
I dont know a single game where they are fun to play as or even to fight. Rather sad considering how badass they are.
EVERYONE needs to go and watch Hellsing Ultimate and see what vampires are meant to be like. Or read the first book in the series "The Last Vampire" by Christopher Pike.

Just of the top of my head, being able to produce some kind of scout creature like a demonic crow (NOT a summoning. Nothing is worse than using the same feature for something completely unrelated) that you could send off to scout. And if it found anything worth seeing you could view it though its eyes, as in the crow is an extension of yourself.

hell yeah. i love hellsing and being able to do that would be awesome. maybe turning into bats or fog could be an alternative to riding horses. since horses would probobly be afraid of a vampire.

perhaps you should be able to glamour guards like in True Blood and make them forget your crimes

1. Being able to go out in the sun, if they're well-fed.

2. Some kind of lore-accurate Kitty Pryde power. (or short-range teleportation/Dracula mist transformation etc to accomplish the same thing)

3. Drinking blood to replenish hunger in hardcoe mode, which totally has to be in.

Maybe in the movies its cool, but in the game it was just unfun, and a pain in the ass to work with. It made just being a vampire impractical and tedious, regardless if it has some "awesome ability" as a trade off. It would have to be a pretty substantial advantage, and very in depth in terms of implementation and how many other unique abilities vampirism offers.

Honestly, for Vampires, I hope they take the ideas from Unholy Darkness and make it a similar experience. If not, I know I'll be bugging MM to make a Skyrim version of the mod.

Honestly, I think that if there is a Vampiric ability to go outside in the daylight then it should be a game-changing one.

Like if you have the ability to do so then your a Vampire for the rest of the game. No going back.

That would be cool.

I prefer Wamphyri Lords from Necroscope. They are the true face of evil and terror.

1) Create thralls? Checked.
2) Burns in sunlight? Checked.
3) Feeds on human blood? Checked.
4) Metamorphic powers able to shape your own fresh? Checked.
5) Metamorphic powers to shape the flesh of your thralls? Double checked. (One of the lords turn his thrall into a living water pipe to draw water up his tower, yes, they are far far more evil than the average vampire.)

Alucard is SATAN

I own the DVD and completed the Manga.

Sure, Alucard kills alot, but he is ... unique. The only game that remotely lets you get close to the feeling of playing him will be Prototype, and thats like only 10% of Alucards power. And his evilness is debatable.

Where Wamphyri lose put in brute power and style, they make up with pure evil.

In Skyrim a unique ability?

ICE VAMPIRE
To turn into a shimmering intangible form that can sink into frozen water and ice walls... you could stalk things unaware of you and then burst forth and drag them in. You could then flee to some remote location and emerge with your prize blubbering and half-dead and feed on them to your hearts content - or play with your food.

WEREWOLF
You could flatten yourself out on the floor of a house and people will think you are an animal rug. They might come over to investigate the strange wolf-like decoration on their floor.. and then you lash out, flesh filling out your form, and kill your victim. Or you could kill a victim in their home, flattened out on the floor and the guard that comes will look at the bloody wolf headed rug and frown while remarking "That rug needs to be cleaned." after an initial investigation turns up nothing. If you move then you'll have to kill the guard and witnesses.

Exactly. Feeding should make you stronger. Also it would be sweet to be able to drain someone dry if you wanted, or even to be able to feed on someone who wasn't sleeping.

Depends on what you class as "pure evil"
Its not his power (so much...) that makes him evil, it his raw intent and disposition.

I see Wamphyri as more of a greatly realized sub-sect of vampires, with emphasis on sadistic tendencies. But they are no more "evil" as any human is capable of (rare, but everybody knows a few stories about how truly malevolent people can be).
Alucard, however... Is like an embodiment of hell and death. But its how many qualities he has that are used to support his role that make him trully Evil

at least for console players a vampire must have a power that slows down game time to something much more realistic than the 1:30 default timescale.

Wamphyri Lords have the ability to shape the bodies of their thrall. That provides much of the ability for nightmarish cruelly.

The example of fleshly water pipes created from thralls (captured human) that as long as he lives, can never move or end its life or cry it's sorrow is just some of the causal cruelty which marks them as evil. The human centipede? A task well within their abilities, and one that can actually survive for decades.

Anyway it is kind of derailing the discussion with unimplementable mechanics/example so I shall not be further discussing Alucard vs Wamphyi in this thread.

The Volkihar Clan is the most powerful Vampire tribe. The Volkihar are paranoid and cruel, whose very breath could freeze their victims' blood in the veins. They lived beneath the ice of remote and haunted lakes, never venturing into the world of men except to feed. They are known to be located in eastern Skyrim [1] (at least before the end of the Third Era) however it is not yet known whether or not they will be featured in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They also have the ability to reach "through the ice of their lakes without breaking it". -Elder Scrolls Wiki. Reference: Immortal Blood.

I really hope they do something with the vampires in Skyrim. They're the most powerful tribe of them all.

Apparently, they harness unique ability with frost as their breath could freeze the blood in their victims' veins. I would like to see something along those lines. The manipulation of frost, and adaptation to sub-zero temperatures or what not. With such an adaptation, I'd imagine they'd have a resistance to sunlight to a certain degree, unless that is there is no correlation between the two, and the sun has a different manifestation which directly affects them. Light itself? Either way, I'd want very unique qualities to these vampires of Skyrim.

What I'd really like to see though is the lore behind them.
