I've had that in games before where you just can't carry much and killing enemies looses all it's sense of reward. You find yourself having to constantly travel back to places just to get an item.
I just simply don't go back. I grab what I can, and when I get full, I decide what I least want to keep and drop it. If I have stuff I'm not using, I store it in my home before heading out to lighten the load.
I don't lose a sense of reward because I'm still training my skills, and if I'm on a quest, I'll get it completed.
