Unlimited Dragon Buffet

Evidentially you won't unlock a new dragon shout per dragon because thankfully, there are an unlimited number of them. I'm going to enjoy this, but I wonder how you will unlock dragon shouts. One per dragon type? Plot related? A new one after so many kills?

I think it was confirmed that we find them by reading strange walls in ruins and all that good stuff.

when you kill the dragon and get their soul you have the ability to learn a new word, and you can learn these words from some people or walls, its like the dragons are big daddies, they give you adam, and a wall is a gatherers garden

I thought some dragons gave shouts and whenever you stumbled across a wall you'd be able to learn it at no cost.

different resources are translated differently so it is kinda ambiguous

Learn it at no cost opposed to what?

You kill a dragon absorb the soul and then you can find words written on walls that unlock them. I think it requires three words to unlock a shout and there are three tiers to each one.
Sounds to me like dragons will be the new oblivion gates if you want to level all your shouts.

I think the three words and the three tiers are the same

Also, one of the previews coming out of the Park City, Utah demo mentioned how a "Dovahkiin" chant ensues as you approach a word wall. Words glow in yellow too.

edit: after reading the GI article it does say three words to each shout so I think you are right after all, I merely misinterpreted it.

i hope dragons do not disappear after the main quest line. Dragon shouts seem like they would be useful on normal creatures and humanoids as well. wouldn't mind leveling shouts up all the way so i can blast people across the room.

Everything I've read and even just quick double checking to see if I'm wrong says that there are 3 words to each shout plus 3 levels and there are about 20 overall. That would mean to get all shouts to there highest level you have to kill 140 dragons and find 140 words! :cryvaultboy:

There's around 20 shouts and there's three words per which completes a shout. There's just 3 tiers and then it's maxed, not 3 levels on top of 3 tiers. So there should be around 60 words.

yeah I realized that already lol I misinterpreted the GI article. It seemed like the words and tiers were separate things to me.

I'm wondering how overpowered even a one word shout will be against regular creatures, especially considering they'll have a short cool down timer.

Shouts are really adding a whole new dimension to the series. Hope we get to see what they look like in live gameplay soon.

Ehh I'm not that big on the idea really. I'm sure they'll be fun and all, but it really just seems like they're simply giving magic powers to every build

Also I noticed my math above for how many dragon shouts I thought there would be. 20x9=140? man I need sleep lol

Haha, yea when I was typing my reply I was trying to figure out where the 140 came from!
