unlimited money?

Post » Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:06 pm

Is there any cheat for PC to get unlimited money? I'm kinda itching for a spoiler here. I have to kill too manny bandits just to get 12 or so gold.
I"m on level 5 now and the game hasn't changed much. I had $1000 once I think but that's it.

You can give yourself money with a console command. Press ~ to bring up the console and type player.additem 0000000F #amount where #amount is how much gold you want (player.additem 0000000F 1000 will give you 1000 gold, for example).

If you just keep playing, you'll eventually have more gold than you know what to do with. You're just at the level where you start seeing some magic items in loot lists, those will make a big difference in how much you can earn. There's no point in cheating to get the things you want.

Level up. You're still an infant at level five and ten levels down the road you'll kill a single bandit and make 2,000+ gold.

One of the complaints about this game is that it is way too easy to get a ton of gold. In fact, there's mods like Enhanced Economy that allow you make it more difficult to be swimming in the stuff later on. It's only in the early part of the game where it seems to be in short supply. Right about where you are now it starts turning around and you'll have no problems keeping yourself wealthy.

Yes, be patient. Money is very tight early and overflows later. I am so glad my character decided to buy a house. Now I can delete money from her purse and she thinks it is simply that darn Count charging her property taxes. Without that, she would have no reason to even pick up gold coins anymore. She has yet to figure out that every time she garners more than 10k, pop, right back down below 10k it goes again. BTW, I use the same console command as mentioned above, only with a minus sign in front of the amount to remove it. ;)

You might want to look into Enhanced Economy then. It has an option to pay taxes to your homes to any city guard. You can set the rate you'd like it to be in the ini. You can also adjust the cost of various services in the game, like training, buying spells etc., The mod has a number of ways to make it less easy to make tons of gold, all of which are adjustable and optional. It also has an auto-haggle feature and makes changes to the way merchants function. In that area, it functions much as Living Economy does.

To make money in the early levels:

1) Do the Collector's quest (the statures you find in certain ayleid ruins)

2) Order of Virtuous Blood quest: this gets you 250 gold for every vampire you kill.
 (but DON"T kill Roland!!)

3) Join guild houses and take their valuables. I pick up most of the glassware as I do the mage recommendation quests and sell it to the guild alchemist. The Chorrol fighters' guild basemant has a smith who will buy the weapons lying around. Some of the books are quite valuable, too. (I hardly ever sell books though, personal quirk, I guess).

4) Arena fights: you get decent cash for this if you don't have to buy potions to win the fights.

5) Never pay for weapon recharging - it's a huge money sink - learn to do this yourself!

6) If Alchemy isn't a major skill you can earn quite a lot of money by making and selling potions. It'll make you look smart, too!

7) As mentioned above, once past level 5 or 6 dungeon diving starts to be much more profitable. Even before then Ayleid ruins with Welkynd and Varla stones can net you a very tidy sum. (I never sell these either even though I use them about once in a blue moon.)

Another reason I want more money is that both horses I have had have been killed by scamps. That horse armor must not be a bunch of hog wosh after all. Any one know where I can get it?

I'm level 6 now and I'm starting to see wwhat you mean. However I just lost both my horses to scamps so cheating is looking good too. I'll hold off as long as I can though lol.

Do the dark brotherhood questline - once finished you will not have to worry about losing your horse again.

Well, you don't have to worry about it dying, but losing will still be a problem, lol! I don't understand why anyone bothers with horses in this game anyway. Very poorly done.

I know what you mean. Objectively speaking, they are more trouble than they are worth. You could certainly list lots of limitations they impose, not the least of which is no spellcasting from horseback in vanilla.

That said however, roleplay is a powerful thing. Buffy's horse http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Cho%20Bk%201/ScreenShot679.jpg has never been lost or killed during the several hundred hours they have traveled together. They have learned to operate together in the wilderness or on the roads as a very survivable team.

I agree. I never bother with horses anymore, they just aren't worth the hassle. What bugs me the most is how they magically appear anywhere you fast travel, even though you weren't even riding them when you started out. And they're a pain to maneuver when you're riding them.

You could always use the duplication glitch and copy a bunch of Varland Stones and sell them. If you can get your hands on a Daedric Warhammer at Lvl 5 (don't know if that's possible) and dup it, sell them for 1200 a pop since most vendors don't have more than that.

I actually like the fact that the horse movement controls work differently from the player's (I'm only familiar with the PC version of the game). I enjoy being able to ride along and use the mouse so my character can look all around her and enjoy the scenery as she rides. After hundreds of hours of using horses in the game, everything about them is second nature now. Dont' get me wrong. I'm not trying to argue how great they are. Again, objectively speaking they are a pain in the neck and many things about them could have been improved. I am glad they are there though. :)

You could have had the same effect using a modifier key, while the horse is controlled by the straight mouse just like the player. Using the keyboard keys at full gallup is just too clumsy IMO. I don't know how many times I ended up off the road when trying to get used to the controls.

Controlling horses is ok and pretty standard, realistic that turning around is far slower just as it is in real life. The lack of mounted combat and spell casting kills it, far too many critters around to avoid fighting and at lower levels it can easy be lethal with a tail of hostiles behind you. Also you can not harvest plants from horseback; this is a downside for alchemists.

As for money at low level, the collector quest is nice and gives thousands of gold at any level. For dungeon crawling don’t hunt bandits, yes they are a cash cow at later levels but at low levels it better to search places like robbers glen with high chance to find magical items, many of them can worth thousands or at least hundreds of gold at any level.

The wonderful modder, Alien Slof added a small feature into one of her horse mods called 'charge'. It is as simple as can be and far from uber. What it does, when enabled, is cause anything that touches the running horse to be knocked away and paralized for about 3 seconds. Perfect for using the horse to knock away attackers and providing time to run beyond their awareness range. Very clever and simple. Although Buffy's Superian does not have this feature, her other horse, Epona does.

I know there are mods that allow fighting and casting from horseback, but I have not bothered with them. With plenty of detect life, we really don't mind the encounters since we can either skirt around them or dismount and eliminate them easily.

Well that stands to reason. It's a bit hard to reach a small plant on the ground when your feet are dangling a couple of feet above it. It would be grossly unrealistic if you were able to harvest ingredients.

With practice and a bit of patience, my character regularly harvests ingredients like flax and nightshade from horseback. Just siddle up next to the plant and manuever the horse and curser a bit. In many cases, you can reach it from horseback. Note that I continue to readily admit that horses are not practical or efficient, yet we love them anyway. :P

Yes it's totally realistic, but still a downside with horses. And yes it's possible just hard. Mount and blade has seriously good mounted combat if anybody is interested, realistic restrictions, no two hand weapons, you can only reload light crossbows, only shoot arrows to your right side because the way you hold your bow, lances.
yes it makes mounted fighters fare superior to they on foot, just as in real life, for balance it's easy enough to make horses pretty easy to kill, or perhaps make them afraid so they panic in contact with large predators, undead or daedra, to make it even better make a good and expensive horse braver.

I found that imps were very profitable because you could use all destruction magic since imps don't charge you, which means no repairs or recharges (so free essentially). But that is only if you are a mage.
