Unlootable Items

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 4:27 pm

This is a very minor complaint, but it kind of bothers me how certain items in the game are unlootable for no apparent reason. For example, there's quite a few different variants of the Thieve's Guild armor and Summerset Shadow armor that you're never able to obtain even if you kill somebody wearing it. Similar with the random Dark Brotherhood attacks, you can kill the Assassin but their armor remains strangely unlootable. This was also in Oblivion, with the Palace guard armor, and many people weren't really a fan of it. Why in the hell would Bethesda decide to bring this "feature" back?

I would like to start by saying when you can't have something, it isn't really a feature. I know you put it in quotes but still. Let's call it what it is, it's a restriction on what you can have. However like you said, this isn't that big of a deal. My only logic behind this is that they don't want you to have things that they think you should get in a quest/questline (Assassin's Shrouded Armor). Other than that, I got nothing.

While I agree with your view I also understand the Bethesda reasons. Dark Brotherhood armor is faction based enchanted armor and they wanted to kept it as a natural reward for anyone who joins or destroys the Dark Brotherhood.

It is pretty irritating though, it would've been nice to get the unenchanted sets of the Thieve's guild armor or the alternate hood and sleeveless variants.

Different variations.

The armor worn by those Assassins are different variations of the normaly Dark Brotherhood Armor. Same thing goes for Dremora's Daedric Armor. Thieves Guild Armor. Summerset Armor. etc.

It was like this in Oblivion too and I agree with it... My only problem was with armor that is NEVER gain at all no matter what you do.

I think that it would be nice if they allowed you to make unenchanted sets of faction weapons/armor once you complete that faction's questline. Would make for a nice reward.

It is a little silly. I just understand what their reasoning would be. Also yeah, once you join the TG you should be able to get the variants. Oh well though.

You can get either Linwe's armor or the Blackguard armor set from Dragonborn if you want the gray sleeveless variety of armor. Both of which can only be gotten as a member of the Thieves Guild.

I would finally create a female character I could stick with.

Do you people know where to find the sleeveless leather armor weared by the Bosmer chick in the loading screen?
Or is it just an alpha pre-release version of the current leather armor?
