Unnecesary Violence issue

Post » Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:43 pm

I recently discovered this mod and paired it with Deadly Reflex. This mod is truly the shining GEM of Oblivion combat overhauls! That being said, I have run into a problem that I cant seem to solve even by reading the readme or uses the .ini file.

My issue is this=
The UV powerattacks kill things in 1 hit! I tried upping my gameplay difficulty setting to Max and reducing the UV powerattack damage in the .ini file to .25 (though it says 1 is supposed to mirror Vanilla power attack damage, this is not the case).

Could there possibly be some bad interaction with DR 5 Timed Block and damage increase esp? I tried unchecking this but it didnt seem to help.

I am not sure what the issue is but I would really like this resolved as the mod is just TO GOOD to lose, but 1 shotting things takes the challenge away. Dang this is an AWESOME Mod otherwise though! A perfect match for DR! You guys rock!!!

It is likely caused by the timed block and damage increase. Could be caused by any tweaks that increase damage really so you might want to disable anything that does that and then try it.

I have tried this, even starting a new game, with no success.

Ok after more testing I have NO idea what the issue is. I have set the damage setting in the .ini file to 0.1 and the gameplay difficulty to MAX.

vs. a Goblin Shaman my power attacks do about 10% damage, yet 1 UV power attack can kill.

I am going out on a limb here but maybe the UV attacks are based off the Max possible damage with the weapon instead of your current Strength and Skill? They are just WAY (unplayably so) to high when compared to normal power attacks. I really want to use this mod, can anyone help?

hmm not sure what the problem is but it is definably not normal so dont lose hope in the mod... have you tried completely uninstalling them and then reinstalling them both while not activating extra damage or timed block?

I havent tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling yet, would i need to unistall pluggy and nifscript to? ALL the timed block esp's unchecked, and on MMM's I have removed "Durability and Damage".

I am not really sure what is causing the issue as I thought the UV attacks where supposed to mimic the Vanilla Power Attacks (in terms of damage), yet they seem to have their own damage modifiers that doesnt appear to be adjusting from the .ini file. I will try unchecking Deadly Reflex, but I dont think its the problem.

I think I may have figured something out, though it does me no good.

I have been testing the damage against the cultists that appear at the very begining of the game (just in case settings require a new game to take effect). I tried several deactivations/reactivations of the omod and tweaks with the .ini with no difference in damage. Every time I did a UV special attack (unarmed) it took off the same amount of life from the cultists.

I then decided to test something=
I started my 10th new game, and this time did a modpcs handtohand to 100, and modpca strength to 100, changing my hand to hand damage from 1 to 11. I tested the UV power attack against the same cultists and guess what? It took off the SAME amount of life from the cultists! No increase! So I think the problem I am having (in addition to the .ini file not adjusting the damage) is the UV power attack script is basing the damage off maxxed skills and stats of the weapon, rather then present damage.

I am not sure what to do to fix this. Do I really need to delete the Omod and create a new one? Is the issue with Pluggy instead? Is it because I am not using Wrye bash? (the mod doesnt require it) Doesnt deactivating and reactivating (the .ini file needs to be deleted after deactivation) reinstall the mod sufficiently? Please help! =(

I have deleted the Omod and created a new one, still the .ini file appears to have no effect on the damage of the UV combat moves. The moves also appear to be unmodified by the difficulty slider in Oblivion, because while I see my regular damage and power attacks go down in damage, the UV moves appear to do the same amount of damage to the monsters.

I am starting to wonder if the issue is with the Omod conversion data, maybe it is messing up the mod? I honestly dont think any other mod is causing the issue (i am running very few now to test, just MMM, Armentarium, Qarls textures, Natural Envirments). I think the problem is with the actual combat moves script. I REALLY do not want to lose this mod as I think it is just plain AWESOME! Yet at the same time the moves completely imbalance my game.

Anyone out there running this mod successfully? Did you instal it as an Omod or manually? Are you using Obese 17 instead of 18? (perhaps there is a backwards compatability issue here).
