If a mod requires something, it requires something. Require does not mean 'it would be nice if you have this installed' it means 'you MUST have this installed'.

Recommended for uv.

Requirements: Oblivion Patch 1.2.0.416, Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) v17 or better, Nifscript , Pluggy 1.25b (HUD Version)* , Unofficial Oblivion Patch**, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch** (if Shivering Isles is installed).
* Pluggy is only required for the FFP Crosshair (see below). If you are unable or unwilling to to use pluggy then you can either disable the FFP crosshair or disable FFP mode altogether in the INI.
** UOP/USIP are only required for FFP mode. If you are unable or unwilling to use them because you are insane, then disabling FFP in the INI will negate the need for them.

Recommended: Oblivion Mod Manager and/or Wrye Bash

If you look on the description tab on TES NEXUS for Unnecessary Violence, it says you don't HAVE to use Pluggy but if you choose not to:
"* Pluggy is only required for the FFP Crosshair. If you are unable or unwilling to to use pluggy then you can either disable the FFP crosshair or disable FFP mode altogether in the INI."

That may mean the Initialization file for the mod which will be in Oblivion/Data/OBSE/Plugins .
I don't think it would mean the Oblivion Ini...

Ok now that you are asking for help with pluggy and have been told that you only need it if you want that cross hair. I will tell you that if you do want it, I will tell you how to get it. http://http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23979 install it into data/OBSE/plugings. Rename the dll to OBSE_Elys_Pluggy_Hud.dll and that will give you the pluggy hud .dll that the mod requires for the modified cross hair.

Friends...OBSE is necessary for the modern day OBLIVIAC. You can't play the game correctly with decent mods anymore without OBSE. OBSE is like a heroin shot for an addict.

Point taken, but that's not really what the OP was asking... he has OBSE installed already, was asking about the other components...

hmmm...i've gotten pluggy installed and put the 2 files into .../obse/plugins and renamed the one to OBSE_Elys_Pluggy_Hud.dll, but i still don't see any crosshair when i'm 3rd person :( could this be because i have 3rd person crosshair enabled in my DarnUI? i just figured i would need it still...

- To enter or exit FFP mode, press and hold the UV modifier then tap your vanity camera key that is per the Instructions. Now what that means I dont know as I dont use UV I am waiting for UV 2. you might look in the ini for the mod to see if it is a programable or a static key stroke, or you may try to ask Hex what that reference means I would try asking him on his page here on this site.

Adding - The UV modifier key gives you access to 8 new hotkeys (1-8 as normal). These UV hotkeys will store an item type rather than a specific inventory item, meaning that even if you remove the item from your inventory, buy for example throwing it, as soon as you pick it up again you can tap the hotkey (with the UV modifier) to use it.

i'm sure im doing everything right :( all of the other parts of UV seem to be working fine(kicks, uv attacks, changing weapon grip and throwing stuff) but i can't for the life of me get any kind of crosshair to show during FFP...im not even sure im entering FFP to be honest but i think the feature that automatically switches me to and from 1P when i [censored] an arrow is part of FFP, and its doing that just fine for me.

Is there any reason why my crosshair shouldn't be working during "FFP 3rd person"?

Edit: this might be a good problem to mention; i put DarnUI back up the other day and i had 3 person crosshair activated, but nothing showed? strange...its worked for me when i used it before but i didn't a few days ago. just thought id mention that to see if it might help

Now that is a good question I as I have said dont use this mod, and having said there are several mods that remove the crosshair, IIRC darn has a similar feature to remove the crosshair. It has been a while since I have done an install of that. I am currently doing a reinstall after a crash of my OS so I am taking my time doing a rebuild for oblivion so I cannt even do an optest for you. :brokencomputer:

I don't think it was...

@ Dante20XX: Nifscript isn't new, it's what is now known as NifSE by DragoonWraith, I think.

bump for a new problem.

i've been using UV with one of my toons for a while with no problems. i recently started a witch-hunter class though, who i would like to duel wield. I can't seem to get it to work though, when i try making her steel shortsword the offhand weapon, (block, uv modifier, uv attack, if im correct) it says error: cannot make scripted weapons into an offhand weapon. :o? i also tried it with an iron shortsword that shes acquired, and it just crashes the game :(

also, if i can get this problem resolved, would it be possible to put BOTH of my offhand and mainhand swords as one hotkey? i really don't think it would be practical to have to convert a weapon to offhand, and then equip another weapon every time i had to go into melee combat.

Thank you!

The scripted short sword is probably the one from the tutorial dungeon. Just wait to get another one. The crash is a bug with the old nifscript - it crashes when converting vanilla scabbarded weapons. Just get some mod added swords and you'll be fine.

Your second sword is treated as a shield as far as the system is concerned, so to hotkey both together you'd have to get a hotkey mod which lets you equip more than one thing simultaneously - or just leave the second weapon equipped.

Just a note generally about UVII for everyone else:

I'm currently suffering from a bad case of RSI in my wrist and am unable to spend any significant time on my computer for the next couple of weeks while it heals. I'm afraid this is going to mean a delay of at least that long for the UVII release :(
