Unnofficial Final Fantasy Thread III

It's called character deveploment, most jRPG players make a big deal out of it. I'm just in it for the god-killing :D

Hmm, god killing...? ...Deusicide?

There's plenty of room for character development without letting the player character be an idiot :P

That's true. I really liked Lightning of FFXIII and Ashe of XII, they are strong non-idiotic main characters (no, i don't consider Vaan the main charcater of XII). Also started Star Ocean 4, pure 100% japanite, but the main character, Edge Maverick (i lol'd :lmao:), doesn't seem to stupid or whiny. Yet, atleast.

On that Edge bit - "Yet" is the correct word for that.

FF2 the one where you get your HP up by getting it less than half after a battle? That system was confusing, but if that's the one, then I was at max health for all of my characters. I think.

FF2 was the one that i think was best, if you get hurt, your HP and stamina will increase, fight more, strength increases, use magic, magic increase and such, i love that game, my last playthrough had about 6000-7000 for each character...more than the final boss if i remember right. (yep, final boss has 15000, 6000X4 is 24000 minimum.)

basically that game doesnt tell you that a black mage cant use a heavy claymore or that massive hammer, it makes it look like this person could be a good make or a great fighter, but you can make anyone do anything in that game, i am almost done making my 4 people into friggin spartan soldiers...

I just started Final Fantasy 8. :D

Traded my friend my Xbox 360 and games for his PS2 and Final Fantasy 8.

The PS2 and Final Fantasy 8, the only PS1 game he has, along with other PS2 games, I gave him a long time ago, never got to get anywhere in 8 because I never had a PS1 memory card, but he was able to get me one :D Only thing missing is some beers. And the liquor store is closed :(

Greatest Hits, I would assume. It's the same as any other edition, only it has the greatest hits cover on it.

Friend said he has FFX somewhere in his house for me, not sure if he will ever get around to finding it, but Im hoping he does. Not sure if Im gonna be getting into FFXII, I played it for a bit and wasnt that into it

Was talking with some people at work today, came to remember that I have never finished a Final Fantasy game before. *shrug* I've always got right up to the end and never finish it off.

Break down of the Final Fantasy 13 story and why it sux ***Spoilers**** :shocking:

- Moms are tough!
- SERAH!
- Lets go fight Anima, the Aeon from Final Fantasy X
- Hey, check out these crazy tatoos!
- SERAH!
- Mandatory name drop: Ragnarok!
- Flashback 1 of 82... Port Town of Whatever
- SERAH!
- We must complete our Focus so we don't turn into zombies
- What's our Focus?
- I donno
- Then how do we complete our Focus if we don't know it?
- I donno
- SERAH!
- Then where do we go?
- Lets go to Palumpolum, since that was the names of the Mysidian kids in FF4
- Now we're at Palumpolum, what do we do?
- I donno
- SERAH!
- Let's go to Pulse
- Why?
- I donno
- Okay, let's go
- SERAH!
- Now we're on Pulse, how does this help us complete our Focus?
- I donno
- Lets go back to Cocoon
- Will this help us figure out our Focus?
- Nope
- Sounds good! Lets go!
- SERAH!
- Look, we're on a ship named Eden... wasn't that a Guardian Force (summon) in Final Fantasy 8
- Yep
- Turtles wreak havoc on Cocoon
- SERAH!
- Now we're in the Matrix... must be near the end of the game
- Last Boss... Fang turns into a mutant... everyone else turns into a zombie
- Nope... just kidding... everyone is okay... the whole zombie thing was a dream... or something
- SERAH!
- Cocoon starts to crash into Pulse
- Fang and Vanille freeze themselves to prevent the crash... hey, it's like the logo on the title screen!
- SERAH!
- Everyone lives happily ever after

Sorry to vent, But I been playing Final Fantasy games over 20 years and feel FF13 sux. Only one character had a solid story and most of the game was a tutorial. Plenty of other reasons but I will lay back with a flame shield in case I upset some die hard FF13 fans around here.

Well, Back to Oblivion and FF12

I'm not going to say that XIII's story is the best of the series or even among the better, but it's very easy to make any story look bad when you're trying to. Also, yes. Many names are re-used in the series, in just about every game, too. Big deal.

-snip-

Any Final Fantasy game's story will sound stupid if you try hard enough. :P

As for the story itself, it wasn't bad. It was your standard Final Fantasy fare, only told in a way that was lacking compared to other, modern entries in the series. I also happen to think that the only character who's story was truly bad, was Snow. He only squeaks by because his involvement with Serah.

Also, Final Fantasy XII? Bleh!, I say!

I think Snow was put there to be a dork/cool guy

On that note Hope was way cooler in that regard to Snow

Is it true that PS3s break down after playing FF13 too long?

Because I read at a couple sites and some say the FF13 game is over working the lens and causes it to stop working and there is talk that Sony filed a law suit against Square Enix because of this.

I hope it is not true, because even tho I have no real "love" for the FF13 game some friends inspired me to keep playing and last night I finally killed my first few "big giant turtles" and it just got interesting again.

Lets hope that is not true because I just got my PS3 replaced last year and would hate to have this one break down too.
