I started playing WoW about 2.5 years ago on the server Dentarg. However, back then none of my friends that played would actually help me, and the ones I did play with were hardly ever on. So I took a couple years break and started playing again in January because a few people from my dorm were playing. I'm now proud to say I have my first level 80 http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Drunkorc (stupid name, I know). Now I'm working on leveling a Tauren Warrior, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Skatanka (another stupid name). I also have a level 60 Night Elf Druid on the same server, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Vaelran (I like that name ).
I'm definitely having a lot more fun with WoW, now that I have a couple of friends that regularly play. However, I still do get easily burnt out on it, so I try to only play when my friends are on. The last time I played, I had played for over a year and only managed to get my main up to level 40, how sad is that?
Don't worry about your names being stupid, I find overly fantastical and complicated names completely ridiculous in a game where the ability to type someone's name can be fairly important, for invites and such. If it's an RP server than fine, but on a regular server I prefer simple and funny names over overcomplicated ones.
For example, my 80 Warrior is called Warpants and my 80 Hunter is called Bownage. I've got some others with Norwegian names and some low levels with variations of the "pants" name, as in Spellpants, Cursepants etc. If I get stuck thinking of a name then I just look around the room and see if I come up with something, my very first character was a Hunter called Shoe, his pet was named Socks
I also had a guy named Shelf, but I forgot that class he was.
My Worgen Rogue will be called Barf most likely, in honour of my very first Rogue that I made years ago on another server.
