Unoffical World Of Warcraft Thread

I started playing WoW about 2.5 years ago on the server Dentarg. However, back then none of my friends that played would actually help me, and the ones I did play with were hardly ever on. So I took a couple years break and started playing again in January because a few people from my dorm were playing. I'm now proud to say I have my first level 80 http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Drunkorc (stupid name, I know). Now I'm working on leveling a Tauren Warrior, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Skatanka (another stupid name). I also have a level 60 Night Elf Druid on the same server, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malorne&cn=Vaelran (I like that name ).

I'm definitely having a lot more fun with WoW, now that I have a couple of friends that regularly play. However, I still do get easily burnt out on it, so I try to only play when my friends are on. The last time I played, I had played for over a year and only managed to get my main up to level 40, how sad is that?

Don't worry about your names being stupid, I find overly fantastical and complicated names completely ridiculous in a game where the ability to type someone's name can be fairly important, for invites and such. If it's an RP server than fine, but on a regular server I prefer simple and funny names over overcomplicated ones.

For example, my 80 Warrior is called Warpants and my 80 Hunter is called Bownage. I've got some others with Norwegian names and some low levels with variations of the "pants" name, as in Spellpants, Cursepants etc. If I get stuck thinking of a name then I just look around the room and see if I come up with something, my very first character was a Hunter called Shoe, his pet was named Socks :P I also had a guy named Shelf, but I forgot that class he was.

My Worgen Rogue will be called Barf most likely, in honour of my very first Rogue that I made years ago on another server.

It's nice to see a new player progressing and discovering everything for the first time. I love Outland, it's epic. My favourite zone there is Nagrand, it's full of waterfalls in the sky, beautiful music and some great quests. Make sure you do the Ring of Blood questline in Nagrand before you leave, you get a http://thottbot.com/i25762 as a reward.

The European servers have been down for maintenance since 11pm last night and were meant to be back up already but the downtime's been extended to 4pm. The forums are ablaze with righteous nerdrage.

Aye, Nagrand is probably my favorite zone as well as far as Outland goes. Such a beautiful place riding through there on your flying mount with settings on high midday.
And yeah, make sure to do the Ring of Blood. But you gotta be 65 first, unless they've changed it.

I find that with the loot you get early on in Northrend, it's not really that important to get the best loot in Outland, I tend to just level past it as quickly as possible, by doing a lot of instances and quests mainly for reputation and money, and then move on. On my Warrior, I didn't do Ring of Blood, I went back at level 80 and soloed it to get the achievement for doing both Ring of Blood and Amphitheatre of Anguish. Made a decent amount of easy cash, I'm thinking about going back to Outland at 80 and finishing off some quests just to get some reputation and easy cash, even though I do have loads of cash already, you can never have to much. Daily quests are great, but I'm a bit tired of doing Argent Tournament quests at the moment, I basically got the Crusader title on my Hunter while she was Horde (Anyone who has that title knows just how long it takes to get) and when I faction changed her over to Alliance, I lost it all. I'm not going to go back and do all that again on the Hunter, but my Warrior will, and is about halfway done with it. I'm just taking a break from that for a while so I don't get burned out on it.

I don't see why you wouldn't do the Ring of Blood, it's over 100g plus a weapon you can either use, or vendor. If you have heirlooms, still do it for the cash. I've never said no to 100g.

Of course, I never said don't do it, I just didn't bother with it when I was doing Outland on my Warrior, simply because I levelled mostly by tanking in instances to practice how tanking worked, by the time I even considered it I was around level 68 and didn't see the need, I just went off to Northrend. I came back at 80 to do it though, and got some extra cash and some potions that I sold for even more cash, took me about 5 minutes to do and I had no problems doing it alone in Protection spec.

Hah, yeah at level 80 I could probably 2 shot all of the bosses except the voidwalker guy if I popped all of my CD's. Two 15k crits across his dome will do him in.

I like watching for the clever names, like gnomes named Anklebiter, or taurens on Proudmoore named KylieMoonogue and Moodonna (I recently started a LizaMoonelly, the "y" is on purpose). Seen lots of really good ones, sure wish I could remember them. Tauren names tend to be the most fun :D

Agreed! One of my guildies has also been able to discover Outland recently, and I'm forever raving about Nagrand.

I can only imagine. I don't go there. I'll just leave it at that :whistling:

Yep, I'm having an awesome time. The gear is perfect for my pally also in the first few quests you get in Outland.

Probably will do some more questing today. So I shouldn't head to Nagrand until I'm around 65?

Well, it's honestly completely up to you when you want to go, but most of the quest are around 64-65+. This is what I did, when BC first came out, and I do it for all my alts as well:
Hellfire Peninsula - 60-62
Zangarmarsh - 62-64
Nagrand - 64-66
Blades Edge Mountains - 66-68
Shadowmoon Valley - 68-70
Borean Tundra - 70-73
Dragonblight - 73-75
Zul Drak - 75-77
Icecrown - 77-80
I find that to be the most effective leveling route.

Created a guild just to have a guild bank at my disposal, bought three tabs and satisfied my OCD from the clutter on non bound gear and items on my other characters, just started stockpiling mats and such to sell at a later date before Cataclysm. Looked at the professions of Cataclysm for Alchemy and tailoring hope I can make decent money like I have been with them.

My ingame frend just faction transferred to Horde, and is looking for the Time Lost Proto-Drake.... it's a self formulated plan from hell. Well at least he's 80, my Lock has 7 levels to go.

I'm not sure how to collect some of the things for the pally questline.

I need Arthas' tears but you need to be a herbalist to pick those...

You could always find a friend with Herbalism and ask him to pick one and trade it to you.

MMO-Champion.com just updated with sandbox pictures and maps, character models, enemy models, etc, all for Cataclysm. It's really, really awesome.
http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/1842-Cataclysm-Models are the new models for NPC's, monsters, etc. Critters as well, I think. Puppies!
Go to MMO-Champion and look at all the new good stuff they have.
Beware, the link I posted might contain spoilers. It has the models for Deathwing and the such.

The Troll druid forms look exactly like I thought they would, I can now say "I told you so" to all my friends...even if they agreed...

Dude, the new Druid forms for the different races look BAMF.
I love the trolls, and the Worgens. Trolls just look sick though. They look like a tribal tiger with huge tusk or something. So sick.
Gah. Look at me. I can't even play WoW anymore.
I hate my life.

That svcks, Cataclysm is shaping up to be pretty awesome. However, it remains to be seen if SW:ToR will manage to claim my attention, or rather, my monthly fee. That's also shaping up to be amazing, only time will tell, though Cata will most likely be released first.

Well seeing how WotLK's beta started in July and was released in November, I can see Cata being the same.

Someone just posted a picture on the MMO CATA IRC chatroom.
It was a dead Deathwing (the ultimate villain of Cata) in what I guess is the last raid of the expansion, The Throne of Flame.
I was highly pissed, as that's not a huge spoiler, or anything like that.
Although, idk. I don't see how they've gone that far into it, but, it's there. Looks bad ass too.
Although, I will leave you folks with http://i39.tinypic.com/ynd7b.gif
You're welcome. :)
