I just installed Universal AndRoot. Haven't used it yet. I'm kind of scared to. I think I still need to hook it to a PC to delete some of the system apps anyway. Has anyone had any experience running this app? Any luck with it?
Universal Androot does not work on FROYO 2.2 (LG ALLY) even though their website clearly states it does. I downloaded Z4Root instead. Their website claims it'll work on the 2.2 FROYO (LG ALLY).
*EDIT 2*
Ok, I'm now convinced that the LG Ally is un-rootable. Again, the company that made the Z4Root app says the Ally is one of the phones with the 2.2 FROYO that is on the list as a phone that it works on and it clearly does not. Oh, well.

A lot of the automatic rooting apps never worked for me. I tried Universal Androot last year and it didnt work at all. I find the command line is much easier and takes about 5-10 minutes.
As to my Droid, I moved up from 2.2 this morning to 2.3.2 stock, and then I just flashed to Project Elite 2.3.2 custom ROM now. It runs amazingly but it really destroys my battery. It is running at about 1100Mhz on the powersave setting but it dies so quickly. I may have to underclock.
Also on Project Elite, in the msg settings there are options for "spoofing" the phone as another. I am a bit curious as to what this means. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq102/Starforce9/snap20110303_153638.png and the http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq102/Starforce9/snap20110303_153906.png Anyone know what that does?
