It depends. If you use a command line style or one of the Auto-root programs then it will stay the same.
But if you use modified .sbf file or some of the Update.zip files, then it will restore your phone to default state with Root. (You will also have to make the automated call to Verizon to activate the phone again, not too bad, like a 2 minute process).

The only thing that would be changed with mine is the fact that Verizon pushed a software update (not Android update) for droid 2 phones that i got as an over the air update. But from what I read that doesn't affect the process.

Anyone else experiencing an issue with the market not autoupdating apps? It worked fine for awhile, but for the past month or so it won't do it. And before anyone mentions yes I have them set to automatically update. I talked to a friend of mine and he has the same issue. I didn't notice any update to the market app, and I know some require it to be manual but it doesn't even tell me that, I just have to keep going t the market and manually update everything.

I have the Samsung Intercept, and it runs on Droid apps. I will say that I like the Encyclopedia Metallum App and The Ultimate Guitar Tabs app, along with the Facebook App. Those three Apps save alot of time of just me lurking on those three sites.

The only qualm I have with it is the Android operating system burns a lot of Battery, but I still get about 14 hours off it before It dies. Plus, Advanced App Killer is a very, very helpful app in keeping the operating system in check.

The battery on my droid 2 seems to last forever (by my standards). Even when I make numerous 30-60 minute phone calls and browse the web slightly and do plenty of text messaging I still get more then a days worth of use out of it. It is a great improvement from my nonAndroid LG Vu which after a year had a battery that died soon after a 45 minute phone call while doing nothing else with the phone. My old Razr V3xx wasn't too bad with battery life but lacked alot of functionality I needed, I recall it lasted roughly a day if I did not make many long phone calls.

I am going to just try and play around with the code and see what happens. The hellow android tutorial just has to programatically write the line in there and the notepad tutorial seems to be too far of a jump ahead for me.

Can anyone recommend a book or good online tutorials besides the official Android ones?

It's not an Android tutorial, but if you go on Youtube and look up The New Boston Java, he's got some really good Java tutorials.

Oh, the battery life isnt awful, I can make a good hour plus call, text all day, and surf the web and get abpout 12 hours on it. Its a great battery life considering.

i just got my samsung epic something or other today for 150 buckaroos. :) gonna take some time getting used to as this is the my first smartphone and my only previous experience was messing around with my cousins iphone.

does anyone have suggestions for a couple of things.

there doesnt seem to be a vlc for android OS at least not yet. is there something comparable that will let me stream movies on my phone.

ive read that you should use an app that kills other apps to save on battery life, any suggestions would be welcome.

anything else that i might have missed. ive only played withit for a couple of hours so theres tons more i have to discover yet. im NOT using the directions because it kind of makes figuring out my phone into a game. :)

I like the Zimly media player though I have only used it for .mp4 files I put on there, I think one of them might even have used H.264 and it plays. I do occasionally play MIDI files with it as well to demo them before using as a ringtone or notification. They just updated the application to have a more transparent interface which is nice.

As far as an app killer I do not think one is nessesary. I do have one on my phone but once the screen locks all killed apps restart anyways so it is a bit pointless. I also don't notice any difference in battery life with it.

Rockplayer is great, I use it to play all of my .avi and .mkv files. As for a music player, I use the Winamp app, it's great and has wireless sync through wifi!

I have a Droid 2 and am quite happy with it so that would be my recommendation to you.

So it seems I may need to reset my phone because the camera has been taking blurry photos for some reason. I laid books out on my bed and thought I had enough light but even with the flash it was blurry. Friend of mine said an app might have done it but I cannot think of which one.

Does it have a keyboard? I'm not the biggest fan of touch screen keyboards but I'm probably gunna go to a verizon store today so I'll be looking around :).

It has three keyboards: 2 virtual and 1 physical. The two virtual are either landscape or portrait mode, portrait being a little smashed but works for small quick writing, and landscape. I found out that the virtual keyboard on this phone is actually pretty accurate thugh I do tend to use the physical one more.

Ok I'm definitely going to have to check that one out then. I'll use a touch screen key board but thats only if I'm trying to look something up real quick.

Edit: Just looked it up on the verizon website and it looks like it has poor battery life :/.

The Droid Incredible is easily the best Android phone available for Verizon.

No it doesn't. I use mine constantly all day for calls, text, and occasional web and I get a full days use out of it easily. I guess if you do more web stuff then maybe it will drain quicker but a normal day for me is 7am to 9pm and it lasts with my use.

How often do you charge it?

I plug it in for roughly 1.5 hours at most. As soon as I see 90-100% I unplug it, I don't let it charge overnight. It does charge rather quickly.

How often do you charge it though. Because right now I'm charging my ENV3 every day to two days as the battery if finally starting to escape from me although that doesn't really bother me.

I plug it in each night if I am under 50% battery. But depending on your usage you might get more time out of it.

That sounds reasonable. I went to verizon today and couldn't stop playing with the Droid 2. I think its going to be the phone I get next.
