Regarding battery, this is an interesting read: http://phandroid.com/2010/12/25/your-smartphones-battery-gauge-is-lying-to-you-and-its-not-such-a-bad-thing/

Well this seems logical however some phones actually report their battery charge a little different, like the Droid 2 from my understanding. For instance if it shows 70% life it doesn't mean its at 70% it means its anywhere between 70-79% inclusive. So while it is slightly inaccurate it is still better than alot of phones that just show a battery meter in quarters.

http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/ and it sounds pretty awesome so I thought I'd share. I can't tell you how many times I don't notice that someone called or texted me when I was in a different room than my phone.

*adds it to my "When I stop being a cheapo and finally get an Android phone check this out" list*

I didn't see the sub-title and I opened this in a new tab. Then was disappointed. I was hoping for literal android discussion. :P

There is one already on my droid, worked well enough the couple times I tried it.

Its linked to the keyboard, but disappeared when I rooted my phone. I'll see if I can dig it up for you.

Its linked to Google, that might help in looking it up.

It's called Voice Search, not every countries/phones/keyboards have it built it. If you are running 2.2 and above, it's almost certain your phone can run it, go to the Market and search for it.

It's HTC's custom graphical shell on top of Android. I'm sure you can google for screenshots if you'd like. I'm not a fan of it either - I prefer vanilla Android - but as far as manufacturer additions go, it's not that bad.

In other news, the Nexus S I ordered is now stuck in the Belgian customs...

Are there any good 3D games out for android yet? I saw Infinity Blade on my friends iPhone 4 the other day and it looked beautiful, but it's not available for Android.

Oh and, I'm a bit confused. Can I OC my phone without changing the OS? If so, how.

I saw some game that claimed to be Unreal powered the other day on the market but I don't remember the name of it. Said it wanted 600mb of SD card storage as well. Off the time of my head I can't think of any others that are real 3D games.

Just needs a kernel with the option. A kernel is separate from the ROM you are running, so if you install an overclocking kernel, you can overclock. What's your phone?

Ok, I installed the Cyanogen Gingerbread nightly build and it looks amazing.

Just one problem, the Google app pack that includes Market won't install for some odd reason making my install useless.

Can I go back to my original ROM, back up the Google Apps to SD card, install CM7, then use those apps?

EDIT: NVM, I need to Flash Clockworkmod 3.x but it's in beta and there's little chance I could revert back.

Is there no one controlling the app market at all? I've seen some questionable apps out there. I thought there would at least be some control over it, although maybe not as strict as apples.

It's pretty much whatever goes I've found. Which I have no problem with since I'd rather have any apps at my disposal, not just "approved" apps.

Yes, me too. I was just wondering really. Some of the apps I've found are great.

For some reason Opera Mini keeps loading a page from another app everytime I open it. Anyone have an idea how to stop this? I just want it to show my speed dial page but since I clicked a link in another app it now always will immediately go to that link when it is opened. I would prefer to not have to reinstall the app though I guess I could try a cache clear for it. Other suggestions welcome especially for preventing the issue in the future.

Sounds like you set another app as the default for... something. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, choose the application that keeps opening, and choose clear defaults.

Its not that something is opening, it is when I launch Opera manually it redirects to the last page that I opened with a different app.
