I myself am a fan of all the Ghibli Movies, such as:

-Castle in the sky
-Howls Moving Castle (Favourite!)
-Spirited away

But I like Metropolis too... still need to watch Ghost in the Shell though (shame shame)

Anyone know more of these feel-good Anime?

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Ergo Proxy looks interesting and is definately one I'm gonna have to check out.

Halo Legends is an anime I just saw, and I must say I really enjoyed it. Don't know how much you'll like it if you're not a Halo fan and aren't familiar with the world, though.

I watched the first three or four episodes at my friend's house. Awful. The Origins weren't bad but I didn't want to watch a documentary, I wanted pwnage.

Despite the fact a lot of people will probably flame this, one of my favorite animes is Dragonball Z. Such a great show.
I remember watching it everyday after school when I was in middle school as it came on Toonami.
Then, I went to Japan and found out just what Dragonball is all about. Completely different from the American dubbed stuff, and in a good way.
I currently have 3 binders full of original Bandai Dragonball Z and GT aluminum cards, worth quite a lot. I also have a few dvds.

There is another anime I really REALLY liked, but I can't remember the name of it. It was like..only letters, that didn't really seem to mean anything. Like FLMP or something like that, or FPHP or something. It was about a kid who played the guitar or something and meets this demon girl who stalks him, and does something to him so that a demon comes out of his forehead. I watched it a LONG time ago on youtube, I'd really like to find it again.

FLCL?

Aaaahhhh yep that's it. Good anime.
I'd also like to add that Akira Toriyama is a great artist. Definitely my favorite anime artist. He did great work for a lot of animes, and a lot of video game art.
I also dislike Dragonball: GT, as it's not canon, and had nothing to do with Akiras work.

I don't like his art.... especially how all his characters have the same face.

Example: Goku and Crono (Chrono Trigger).

Agreed, he pretty much has about six faces: the Goku, the Vegeta, the Bearded Guy, the Alien, the Little Boy, and the Female Character.

You're forgetting the spikey hair, all characters with hair must have spikey hair, with protagonists having extra spikey hair. Also as you get stronger your hair gets longer and spikey-er-er.

Hm. Does anyone have any recommendation for shops that sells anime merchandise? I've been looking for the Character Song of Kyon, but it isn't available in the UK, so I suspect that I may have to go to a Japanese online shop, but I don't know where to start.

Here is [most] of my anime shop folder (had to exclude some things)
http://www.hlj.com/index.html - Expensive, but extremely fast shipping
http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/ (probably not all that useful for you since you would need an R1 DVD player for the DVD. Some imports and CDs though) - Best US anime retailer
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ - Like hlj, just different people
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-71-d-49-en.html - Often the cheapest, but very slow shipping
http://www.yesasia.com/us/en/home.html - Faster shipping than Play-asia
http://www.kidnemo.com/index.php?main_page=shippinginfo&zenid=97792b47bd915808474054f1703b4951 - Another cheapy. Not nearly as full-featured as hlj or Hobby Search and is a little more hit-or-miss as to whether they get your item in stock, but their prices often cannot be beat.
http://toylet.net/index.html - Decent price, decent shipping
http://www.jbox.com/ - Fairly speedy, nice all-around
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/index.html - great resource for CDs, prices not all that inflated.

If those don't meet your needs, I can PM you the rest :)

I have not really watched anime in a while (In part due to the awesomeness of Spice and Wolf because I'm expecting more than just the typical lets go kill the bad guy storyline)

Even my normal anime that I watch just to wait for the series to end, ie Inuyasha and Naruto, has been left untouched.

I even skipped the last FMA: Brotherhood episode

I'm not into anime at all, but one of my co-workers loaned me a copy of Elfen Lied the other day and it is very ... different. I'm sad to say, but I kind of liked it.

It depends, what exactly do you like about it that you want to see in other shows?

I recommend you read the manga, as without the fillers and crappy animation Naruto is much better.

And since your new, let me just advise you to read the first post of this thread. One of the rules is we can't discuss anime or manga that isn't available outside of Japan. But I believe talking about the latest anime episode, 151, is okay as it's legally available on Crunchyroll.

Alright I'm giving up on Gundam Wing. I just don't like it at all, the characters annoy me and I don't care about the stupid plot. Maybe if I watched it when it was airing on Toonami I'd have liked it, but I hate it now...

I really liked it, but they lost me at GT. It just got a little too weird and off the beaten path. The Cell Saga is definitely my favorite.

FOR THE LVOE OF GOD! Come on Naruto animators, stop giving us these [censored] fillers! Here I am, all ready to watch this dark tale about how Sasuke plots revenge on people that made his life horrible and lead to the destruction of his clan, and they toss in this filler... with this guy... BLOWING BUBBLES!

I could immediately tell it was one to because of how they immediately got into destroying people. At least give us a filler that is worth watching like the Guren one.. geeze. *wipes forehead and drinks some water*

Don't worry, episode 151 is the last episode of the filler. Yay! Now I finally get to see my favorite arc of the series animated.
