You think that's bad? Not only have I already ordered a figure off of Ebay, but it has only just come to my attention that Kara no Kyoukai does infact have an official Blu-Ray package AND there is a new DVD Epilogue that's supposed to come out soon. All this time I thought that it just wasn't released anywhere, and that's why Amazon never had it, when infact it was released and it's sold out everywhere official like Rightstuff.

That box set is over $450!

This is bad. They always told me Anime was more expensive than crack cocaine, but I never believed them. :cryvaultboy:

New computer, Kara no Kyoukai Blu Ray box set, new computer, Kara no Kyoukai Blu Ray box set...

Gonna leave her in the box until:

1. I bolt my small display case to my desk

or

2. I get my second display case (end of this month, hopefully)

Hot damn, that WAS fast. Lucky dog. http://acgism.animeblogger.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/shiki3.jpg is going to take ages to ship over from Chinaland.

What's everyone's opinion on Blu Ray upscaling? I had no idea it was an issue until I started reading about it last night, but it seems that it gets pretty bad when they try to bump everything to 1080p artificially.

I've been getting into Neon Genesis but I'm sort of confused as to why there are different endings? Is Evangelion 2.22 just a remastered version?

Two reasons have lead to the multiple endings:

1. Gainax ran out of money during the original anime

2. People keep buying it :P

Rebuild of Evangelion (which is the currently being released movies, of which 2.0 (and all the other 2.Xs) belongs to) are remakes, not remasterings (see: the introduction of the new character Mari in You Can [Not] Advance). We'll probably get yet another different ending with Rebuild of Evangelion Final.

I'm sure. I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard things start to take more drastic turns from the anime even in You Can [Not] Advance, and more than just the introduction of Mari. I can't imagine what they have in store for Final, but here's hoping they finally get it just right (not that I didn't like End of Evangelion). :P

Only three more weeks to go! ^_^

Indeed. I can't wait. I got it preordered on Right Stuff along with Working!! I'm hoping that Rightstuf will do its usual "shipped a few days before the official release date" so it'll arrive on time, or better: arrive a few days early.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

As soon as spring break starts, I'll start catching up on anime (and life, in general).

I don't suppose anyone knows why Macross Vol. 7: Hell's Fury is impossible to find, do they? I'm guessing that it was either in extremely limited quantities to begin with, or was just never made at all. The latter seems ridiculous since it still has a listing on just about every website that sells DVDs, but if it ever was made you'd think a copy would eventually make it's way to eBay, which I haven't seen yet.

Bleh, all I want is my darn Macross collection. Is that too much to ask? Robotech isn't nearly as good. :meh:

It's the best I could do with a camera phone and a flashlight, but at least you can see. http://static.hlj.com/images/gsc/gsc96244.jpg

This is the first figure I have ever bought, and I don't really intend to buy any more or start a collection. Just something about this one grabbed me and forced me to buy it. Her pose and style is so vivid. Intense even.

I'll have to buy a little display case for her when I get my own place, but for now the box is the safest place to be. :P

I tell ya what, ebay is about to be my new best friend. First this figure, and then I snagged a box set of all 5 Slayers movies for like $30 the other day.

anime that i recommend-

The only ones that I have liked so far besides Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon are-

Rurouni Kenshin

Gurren Laggan

I really am not into anime that much, but those two really caught my interest. I have watched all of Gurren Laggan, but I can't find any site that has all of the Rurouni Kinshin Series in English and that the audio is in sync with the video... :(

sad....

Used to love Rurouni Kenshin back when it was on Toonami. A real classic in my eyes. I don't like the last story arc though. Should have ended with Shishio. The whole last bit with the pesudo-religious crazy people and some Christ figure that had Kenshin's exact sword style was just...it didn't feel right to me.

You might like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfdKeB9E3RM&feature=related too. Really strongly influenced my later tastes, since that was back before I really even knew the difference between "Anime" and "Cartoons on TV".

I only own one figure too, http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10096870.

They're too expensive to start a collection, but I would like an Ayanami Rei one day.

Okay, I will admit, if I could track one down I would totally get this http://myfigurecollection.net/item/27076_hellsing_seras_victoria_1_8_organic too, because I adore Seras and it's the best one of her out there.

But that's just it. It's not actually out there. :(

But that's it. Two items isn't a collection. Honest!

really? dang... freaking heck... I hate it when shows are really good and then the ending is total crap. thats what happened to naruto to me. It used to be awesome, but the it got WAY too weird for me. I think I liked the frist season, then after that it got really bizzarre.

Anyone here watch, or even heard of Gungrave? I think it's pretty cool. I really like anime but don't watch all that many. And only the mainstream ones at that.

Bleach
Naruto
Dragonball (and all variations)
Pokemon
Digimon
Sailor Moon

Most of these used to come on a segment on CN called Toonami. Can anyone recommend any other good ones for me?

The gundam series is always pretty good. A lot of them are set at different times so you don't have to have prior knowledge of the series (typically). A few of the good ones are 8th MS team (though there is a little knowledge required to kinda half know what's going on), Gundam Wing (set in it's own universe so no prior knowledge is really needed), and Gundam 00 (which the first season is available on Crunchyroll and again is set in it's own universe).

Stay away from G-Gundam and SD gundam

I also recommend Code Geass (watch on crunchyroll), Death Note (On Hulu), Clannad, Legend of the Legendary Heroes (available on Hulu), and Fairy Tail (available on Crunchyroll but only if you have a premium account).

Ah, I remember seeing a few episodes of Gundam Wing and enjoying it. And I've heard of Death Note before too. Thank you for this list. :)

If I remember right, that's because the anime and manga split there. All of the anime after Shishio was filler, and the "real" ending of the manga was never properly animated, only passively referred to in an OVA, I think.

Did you like those? I ask because they're all part of the shonen genre, which is the mostly popular and well-known variety, especially in the US. If you did you can find similar in the same genre, otherwise avoid it. Other popular examples of the genre include Rurouni Kenshin mentioned above, Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Only saw the first four episodes, but it seemed pretty cool. Granted, that may not be enough to properly judge it, because I know somewhere along the way, it takes a really drastic shift in style, starting off as a generally down to earth mafia drama, and then moving to really bizarre sci-fi stuff.

Yep, loved all three, especially Dragonball. I've heard of Fullmetal Alchemist, but not the others. I'll find out about them too. Thanks!

Yea, in the end it gets pretty crazy. I won't post any spoilers, but yeah, it gets messed up. Still like it though. Oh, and has anyone heard of Cowboy Bebop? I think that's really cool as well.

Cowboy Bebop is a classic. Ironically, I'm watching the movie as I'm typing this.

Also in the process of re-watching TTGL, checking out Darker Than Black, Spice and Wolf, and finally gonna watch Full Metal Alchemist in order.

I love Netflix.
