So you guys think I should make one instead of buying? I would but I honestly don't know how to go about making a cosplay outfit... :sadvaultboy:

If you want to take the challenge (and save some cash), I say you should make your own costume. A Hei costume doesn't seem too difficult. I'm sure you could improvise with a goth-styled tight overcoat or something.

Watched and finished Demon King Daimao

Well I had already watched the first few episodes of it a while back and knew where I left off so I just picked it back up. It was an ok series (once it got past the whole Kafka Komedy thing, though there were still some remnants of it near the end).

The thing that really bothered me though is that there was no real build up to the final battle. It was just kinda like "well here's the final battle without really explaining a whole lot of stuff but yay the series is over!". Of course it's probably better that it ended abruptly because it just wasn't that good.

Gonna start up with Student Council's Discretion soon. But before that I wanted a good action anime. Not Naruto or Bleach but something good. Any suggestions?

I'm not too big on anime, but I do really enjoy the occasional few. My current favorite is Fullmetal Alchemist (either one, I just like Fullmetal Alchemist of any kind) and it's been one that I've liked for several years now, but I've never read any of the manga for it and I've only watched the first of the two anime series. A few days ago, I came across the first 26 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood on Netflix and they were available for instant watching (the entire first series is, as well). I finished watching those first 26 episodes and am now going to rent the remaining episodes, but now I'm curious about something. Why are there two, different series for Fullmetal Alchemist? I'm not complaining, as I love having more of the series, but I'm interested in knowing why there are two, separate series. I've read that Brotherhood is more based on the manga, but I'm not sure if that's true and it leaves me wondering why the original anime diverged from the manga in events and characters. Does anyone know what's going on with this?

Fullmetal Alchemist diverged from the manga probably because the manga was still ongoing and it had caught up. That or they just wanted to do an anime original after establishing the general Fullmetal theme.

Brotherhood follows the manga very closely and even ended itself at the same time the manga ended. Brotherhood is MUCH better than the first FMA series.

The original anime diverged from the manga for the simple reason that the anime, well...caught up. A lot of anime series are produced while their manga source material is still underway. And once the well dries up, they either end then and there on a cliffhanger (Berserk) or a gecko ending (Trigun), take the plot in another direction (the first Hellsing series, and of course, Fullmetal Alchemist), or make a bunch of filler episodes to wait for more source material to be made (Naruto).

Finally got to watch You Can [Not] Advance. And:

I'm sure. I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard things start to take more drastic turns from the anime even in You Can [Not] Advance, and more than just the introduction of Mari. I can't imagine what they have in store for Final, but here's hoping they finally get it just right (not that I didn't like End of Evangelion). :P

yeah, they changed a LOT. Some for the better... some not (in my book)

Also: VERY ANGRY that Shirou Sagisu lifted songs practically AS IS from Kare Kano and put them in 2.0 :swear: I mean no offense to the man, as I am very fond of his music, but with so many copies from Kare Kano in 2.0, I don't understand how he got the Best Music award in 2010

Also, I hate USPS:

Hmm, does anyone live near/plan on going to Otacon/Otakon(not sure exactly how it's spelled). Up in D.C. or there-a-bouts. I've never gone before, but I have plans to probably go with a good buddy of mine this year, and wouldn't mind meeting some fellow anime fans/gamesas forumites.

I just got done watching the first two movies in Rebuild of Evangelion and it is simply phenomenal. Easily the best anime I've ever seen in my life so far. It's going for a really cheap price on ebay/amazon and I highly recommend everyone to watch it. I've never finished the original anime but supposedly there were many changes between the movies and episodes. Could anyone provide me with some of the major things they changed? Can't wait for the rest of the movies to be released. :D

Alright, I gotta be honest: Although I enjoyed watching Black Blood Brothers, the anime is simply incomplete. I honestly feel that nothing was resolved, with the exception of getting to know the BBB universe. Sadface.

Full Metal Alchemist is next. I've seen quite a bit on [AS], but I hate not seeing a show, episode by episode, all in order. SO, I'm going back to episode 1 and watching the entire story from start to finish. I do know this much though: This anime is quite dark and brutal. I really don't think the majority of the audience is catching the depth of everything that happens. I don't feel this is spoiling anything, since it's (surely) printed on the back of the DVDs and manga, but 9 and 10 year old brothers, whose dad abandons them, loving mother dies, then one loses his body, the other literally pays an arm and a leg to save the first, AND they more than fail at what they tried to do when they lost their body and two limbs. FROM EPISODE ONE, these kids should be utterly traumatized and messed up in the head. Obviously, it only gets worse from there as they continue their adventure. I haven't seen the end of this series, but I always enjoy perseverance. I love a series where the antagonist(s) keep on their path through harsh crucibles and trials. That's why Berserk is my favorite manga, so I really think I'll love FMA once I finally get the whole story in order.

The first movie is a condensed version of the first 6 episodes of the anime, the second movie continues the story in an entire different direction.

For example:
Mari does not exist in the original series
There is no Key of Nebuchadnezzar, instead the trigger of Instrumentality is http://i.imgur.com/hDbqK.jpg
Kaworu isn't hangin' out on the moon with Mark 06 (also not in the series), he only shows up in the last couple episodes

Been checking out a lot of anime lately

I'm watching Moribito right now and it's pretty good

I've also watched the first episode of Hanasuka Iroha. It seems off to a good start and it's pretty interesting definitely something I'd recommend.

I'm about to watch Steins Gate and Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa (We, Without Wings). And once I get time I'm going to watch Hosizora e Kakaru Hashi (A bridge to the Starry Skies)

If you like romance/thriller then I recommend Shingetsutan Tsukihime. It's a tragic love story between a vampire and a monster slayer, but there is some action too, as well as a main antagonist.

Imagine Twilight, but the main characters http://youtu.be/rrGpC3JSwuU within the first 10 minutes.

Still haven't finished Fortune Arterial and I really want to watch Student Council's discretion (it's hilarious)

I recommend that you finish the TV (up to episode 24 at least), then watch the End of Evangelion first before watching RoE, but since you already did, so just go and watch them. It's kinda important, and will/would help you understand what (will) happen(ed) in RoE.

Wahooo all my Full Metal Panic BluRay boxes came in the mail at last! They were all ridiculously cheap on some Amazon sale. Got all three seasons. I think I'm fast approaching the end of all the "I WILL own these Anime one day" shows. Still unable to find Kara no Kyoukai for less than $750 though, and my spending budget this month is way over anyways. :P

It's not related to End of Evangelion, so I didn't recommend it.

It's actually End of Evangelion from a more psychological perspective. EoE and episodes 25 & 26 take place at the same time, but they each show a different facet of Instrumentality.

Finished up Working!! yesterday. Loved it, especially episodes 9 and 10.

Spoilers:

Spoiler

Inami at the end of episode 10 was PERFECT. She's all "Why did I fall in love with a weird person that no one else would love" Right after that, she realizes that means she won't have any competition for his love, so she's in the clear until she gets over her androphobia. She goes "Yeah! You little perv!" giving him a thumb's up and everything after thinking that

And of course the final episode some real reciprocation occurs: For the first time ever Takanashi admits to himself that he thinks she is cute, but then spirals into fear for it is the first time he's ever thought something not-small (he's not a lolicon, he's a minicon -- thinking a water flea is cuter than an idol) is cute and starts wondering what is "wrong" with him and rationalizing things. Inami overhears his rationalizing so he tries to explain it and calls her cute... a cute fierce dog :P All Inami hears is "cute" though

NIS once again did a grade-A job on the extra materials: once again doing a hard-cover book with character bios and whatnot. I hear that a new season of Working!! is to air soon, I hope NIS licenses it too. NIS box sets are quickly becoming my favorite.

You're missing one there Rusty

The proper order is: Slayers, Slayers Next, Slayers Tri, and then I believe, Slayers Evolution followed by Slayers Revolution(I could be wrong with those last two, as I haven't seen the newest two seasons).

Thanks I didn't notice that I missed one when I posted earlier

after a bit of research the order seems to be
Slayers
Slayers NEXT
Slayers *TRY (TRI?)
Slayers REVOLUTION
Slayers EVOLUTION-R

* the spelling used on Youtube.

thanks again for the help
