Anyone know how many parts of Soul Eater have been released on DVD?

All of it.

Dang, just noticed Eden of the East is being released October 19th. How did that release date sneak up on me?!! I was watching it on FUNimation's video portal and it is good.

Well thanks! And does it seem like Funimation has been licensing a lot of animes more frequently recently? Or is it just me being ignorant and not having a clue about whats going on?

I was flipping through our TV guide a couple days ago and I noticed that the Funimation channel was listed. We don't actually have it, and I can't find any information about it on AT&T (our awful TV/internet/phone provider) or Funimation's website. Still, if we end up getting it that might be pretty cool. I can see what they show, Samurai 7, Soul Eater, Devil May Cry, and Claymore are all listed, so I'd be very pleasantly surprised if we started receiving it.

Can't you just watch it all on the FUNimation youtube channel? I just started watching it last night after reading volume one of the Manga, and I really enjoyed it.

All search seem to point to Comcast.

Yeah, FUNimation has been kicking it into overdrive the past year or two.

I get the FUNimation Channel. Pisses me off when I flip past it. FUNimation keeps promising they are "looking into" airing subtitled anime, but nooooo. I don't understand why they don't. They show the same episode like 4 times a day, they could just swap one of the times with subtitled.

You don't get the extra features and stuff when you watch it online, nor that warm fuzzy feeling of owning it.

Yeah, I saw that but "Coming soon" isn't very helpful. ATT doesn't have it listed on their website at all, but it's on the TV guide. I was just wondering which service packages get the station, but there's no information available anywhere I've looked.

Yeah, lately I've been worried about earthquakes and have been thinking of the best way to uber-earthquake protect my collection. So far my idea involves steel clamps and lots of nails

Yay, good news everybody! I've been talking to a friend of mine, and we have decided to go all the way to Edinburgh to see the premier of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. There's still a lot to sort out, but progress is being made! And now, we return to your regularly scheduled craziness.

Been watching http://www.crunchyroll.com/saki during my my free-time at school (have a long break around lunch time). Man I forgot how awesome this show is. Almost done with it. Just started the second hanchan of the taisho's round in the finals. Momo was every bit as innocent as I remember her being, and, of course you all know by my recent figurine purchase that Koromo is adorable.

I'm certain all the fans of Strike Witches has already seen it, but just giving it another shoutout. Even if Strike Witches isn't your cuppo tea, if you like mahjong or just looking for some nice character development, watch Saki.

FUNimation needs to license it so I can buy it on DVD (DVD > Internet stream any day of the week), and GONZO needs to hurry up and come out with the second season THAT NEEDS TO BE MADE!!!!

Hey, I really like Gundam Wing, and in general I like Mech's and sci-fi. Possibly my favorite thing is Sci-fi. So can anybody recommend a good sci-fi, and/or mech anime, but with one little pet peeve. I can't stand high pitched voices. I was watching trailers for other Gundam series, and most of the voice actors had voices that sounded like 9 year olds. And honestly, it hurts my ears. It's ok when its from side characters, but not the main character. More mature anime I guess you could say.

Bottom Line, I'm looking for a mature sci-fi or mech anime that the main character(s)' voice isn't a high pitched one.

You could watch some other Gundam series. I think Gundam 00 is very good, and the dub is well done. I watched a few episodes subbed a while back, but I can't recall what it sounded like. G Gundam isn't bad either, just has incredibly outlandish dialogue sometimes.

Code Geass is excellent. Easily one of the best animes I've ever seen. A few (2 or 3) pointless high school antics episodes, but those can be skipped without missing much at all.

Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam 0080 were pretty light on the high pitched voices if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I watched Blue Gender but it may fit the bill as well. SDF Macross if you can find it (cost me a fortune). Obligatory Akira recommendation. Patlabor.

I only know the more popular ones since I don't follow anime all that much. I'm sure someone will come along and recommend tons of shows I've never even heard of. :P

Are you watching this with the original Japanese voices or the English voices? One set may be high for a series, and the other not, so it is a fairly important question.

What kind of voices are we talking about? If it's English, do yourself a favor and start watching subtitles with the original Japanese language. If it's Japanese, then I got nothin' else to say.

As for recommendations, I don't know a great many of mecha anime, but science fiction shows worth checking out include: Cowboy Bebop, Bubblegum Crisis (original OVA and the 2040 TV series), Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Key the Metal Idol, Trigun. There are also several films, including Akira, Iria: Zeiram the Animation, and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor

The Keystone Light commercials of Keith Stone remind me of him always. I mean Tylor is so smooth he seduced an AI. :P

Evangelion?

I dunno, there's an awful lot of screaming from both Shinji and Asuka. His scream in End of Evangelion nearly made my head explode the first time I was unfortunate enough to watch it with the volume up.

This is going by the English voice track, never bothered to watch it in Japanese.

I'm personally convinced Tylor is the Joker. You can never be sure about either of them.

Can't escape it, the protagonist is a very whiny 14-year-old, this comes across in both the Japanese and English tracks (but the dub svcks ass anyway, and should be avoided at all costs). I doubt TESgamerKyle's brain would remain intact before the first episode was half-over. :P

Dialog isn't the only thing that's outlandish about G Gundam. I'd say it's basically Dragon Ball except with giant robots, but I don't recall anyone ever taking a full episode just to power up, so I don't think the comparison fits. The series also has a fair amount of shouting, though its more of the hot blooded and manly sort rather than the screaming kids sort.

As far as Gundam 00, I can't speak for the English dub, but I recall the original Japanese voices were pretty good in that area.

If characters with high-pitched voices bother you, though, a lot of anime may post a problem since many series have underaged protagonists, though it also depends on how under aged they are. Of course, it also depends somewhat on whether you watch your series with dubs or subtitles. In general, I tend to favor the latter as many dubs I've heard aren't very well done. You could try Big O, the voice acting seems to be much more subdued than series focusing on younger characters and there isn't much high pitched screaming at all.

Anyway, in completely unrelated news, looks like I'll finally have something to look forward to!

That's good news, I wonder if it's going to cover just the same storyline as the old anime though or if it will actually catch up to where the manga is.

Who knows? Each of the clips in it comes from a different portion of the manga (first one between Volumes 22-34, second between 17-24, and the last one in Volume 8).

And just to pull back from my initial excitement, there technically hasn't been any official announcement of an actual anime. The wraparound in Young Animal advertised a "Berserk anime project," which the commercials could be, and that commercial itself was more an advertisemant of Volume 35 than anything. Still, seems to be a little odd to give a single volume so much fanfare (not that Berserk doesn't deserve it :D), with an ad in the magazine, a bunch of upcoming high-quality animated commercials (five are slated in total), and even a http://www.younganimal.com/berserk/cm/index.html promising more to come. I'll remain cautiously optimistic...for now.

Watching Lucky Star for the third time , the dub voices are so weird . I am use to the subtitles.
I have no motivation to watch any other anime.
