Finished watching Evangelion today

Probably one of the most wtf endings of an anime I've ever seen

Watch End of Evangelion, Gianax ran out of money at the end of the series, so a few years later they made EOE as a proper (much more understandable) ending, it's also really really good.

I mean I expected it from Serial Experiments Lain but Evangelions weirdness just kind of came out of left field

Had to read the wiki to even get any sort of understanding out of the ending

Ah well still a decent series up until the last two episodes anyway

Just watch End of Evangelion while drinking a cool, refreshing glass of orange tang.

Has anyone heard about the new stance on scanlations?

Has anyone heard about the new stance on scanlations?

You mean how http://www.anhymanwsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-08/u.s-japanese-publishers-unite-against-manga-scan-sites both in America and Japan are finally forcing sites down? Scanlations are illegal, and it is their right as copyright holders to take down infringing content.

Discussion on the matter further I don't think is necessary. Scanlations are a form of copyright infringement, a subject not open for discussion.

Anyone happen to have a solid window for Funimation's FLCL DVD/Blu-ray release? Google turned up late 2010, but I'm just curious if there's anything a little more specific.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, I just found out while seriously considering grabbing one of the box sets for ~$150, so I'm both relieved and excited. :P

Endless streams of tears. At least half a tissue box worth

To not cry during Clannad means you have no soul :stare:

I have never cried during Clannad but I have come very close

Do I have a soul?

And to not smile when Akio insults the bread also means you have no soul.

I  every time

Just watch End of Evangelion while drinking a cool, refreshing glass of orange tang.

I'll check into it

Hopefully it will be much better

Also, as a side note, the English voice actor for Shinji is the same voice actor for Vanilla in Steambot Chronicles

I was playing and I was like "hmmm Vanilla's voice sounds awfully.....It's Shinji! :ahhh:"

No official exact release date yet. I too am pumped for the release.

Yes, but only half a soul.

Holy [censored], someone else has actually played that!

In any case, get used to this " phenomenon," you'll be seeing (er, hearing) a lot of the same people across various games and anime. Digital Devil Saga in particular has, what you could say, an "all-star" anime cast (Steven Blum, Crispin Freeman, Wendee Lee, Amanda Winn Lee, and Yuri Lowenthal).

When I watched Toy Story 3, I was pleasantly surprised to find a massive reference to an anime film. I'll list it in spoilers:

Spoiler
There's a plushie of Totoro from My Neighbour Totoro. He was really cute. :D

Well it's being released in Japan on August 18, so probably around Christmas or early next year.

I noticed that too but I thought I was just mistaken. Glad I'm not the only one who saw that.

I was under the impression that FLCL only had something like six episodes. Why's the box set so expensive?

FLCL was originally released by Broccoli's anime division Synch-Point. In 2008 Broccoli officially pulled out of the anime distribution business in America (and also pulled out of manga at the same time :() They released one full collection of the anime: a collector's edition with a t-shirt priced originally at $90. This is virtually impossible to find now due to less then one year of printing. The individual DVDs were put out of print twice before the company pulled out. By the release of the collection they were virtually sold out everywhere. Those were priced at $30 each (3 of them).

The anime's airing on advlt swim greatly increased the anime's popularity, which led to the stocks selling out so quickly, greatly increasing the value of those few on the market. I've seen them go for as much as $250 before. Poor saps were probably twisting in their seats when they heard FUNimation relicensed it, on blu-ray no less.

The most rare anime that I am aware of, though, remains Cardcaptor Sakura. I've seen that series go for $500+, a highly prized item that almost instantly went out of stock everywhere after Geneon pulled out.

Remember seeing 'em at my local Sam Goody for something like $10-15 each during their going out of business sale, but I didn't really care for the show back then. I've also been terrified to even try and buy 'em, as much as I've heard about bootleg copies.

I enjoyed my Samurai Champloo Blu-ray box set (though I've heard a fuss about it not being in native HD resolutions), so I'm hoping Funimation does FLCL well.

Makes me feel old with all these new animes when I stick to my oldies and semi-oldies. I wish it weren't so hard to find some...Finding a decent price on Gundam Wing (individual DVD's) and Rurouni Kenshin (60 bucks and up new) has been a chore. Though I have taken to Bleach, FMA, and Samurai Champloo.

Okay, so first off all, I'm not really into anime. Not because I'm one of those people who discredit an entire medium based on a few dumb cliches or whatnot, but simply because I've never really taken the time to get into it. Anyway, the reason I said that is because I'm sure it's old news to everyone else here, but I've finally gotten around to watching Howl's Moving Castle. That was an amazing movie. I really loved the setting. <3

So, I guess that's it. Just wanted to post something here since I had a reason to. :P

Rather than watching the whole series of Gundam Wing again I've decided to settle for Endless Waltz

I can't remember if I like the OAV episodes or the actual movie better

Good call. I picked up where I left off in Gundam Wing yesterday and a little Relena goes a long way. Probably why I stopped watching it in the first place.

All of Studio Ghibli's films are amazing. If you liked that you should check out stuff like "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro"

or if you want something serious/sad, I highly recommend "Grave of the Fireflies"

I've seen Spirited Away already. I loved that one, too. I think I'll look into both of those recommendations. Thanks! :)

Well. I've watched Clannad. Very sad. :( I thought they did that very well. Now to watch Clannad After Story.

Today, I got my K-ON! Cds. They're actually pretty good, especially NO Thank You!, although I still prefer Don't Say 'Lazy' for whatever reason. I bought the LE so that I could customise my CDs with the coverart of the member that I think looks the best. I don't know If I've said this or not, but I've finished off my Figma collection of the TMoHS team, and Alter Haruhi too, but I'm keeping an eye out for the Nendroid of Vanishment Yuki that will come out fairly soon - and looks like http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/P1180117_m.jpg

I don't know if anyone else here will get it , but I have a feeling DEFRON will probably get it too. :P
