Unofficial Brain Storm for Todd Thread.

I'd rather not have any battle music unless for minor/major bosses. Not random bandits and trolls.

Epic Battle Music begins: Oh snap! epic music is playing, something big is about to happ- Oh wait its just a mud crab - false alarm everybody!

Errr, if I were Todd, I'd stick to the forums instead of this thread.

One single thread just isn't going to be a good basis for what you intended to do.
Just take idiots like me interrupting all the flow of your invaluable suggestions.

If you're serious about this, do a wiki or something.

Quest Rewards

I don't know how this will be implemented in Skyrim, but one thing that really ticked me off in Oblivion was how I had to wait until the higher levels to do certain quest in order for the quest reward to be as powerful as possible. If I got for example Chillrend at level one it would be far less powerful than if I got it at level 35.

There are two ways to fix this. The first is to simply locking the quest reward, (and therefore the quest in itself to some extent) to a certain level and that the character, regardless of his or her level, would get that same weapon always. Another way is to implement some kind of auto-quest reward leveler in a similar fashion as the excellent oblivion mod Quest Award Leveling did: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=230

I personally think it kind of makes sense or atleast feels pretty cool with certain powerful, epic weapons binding to the character and increasing in power as the character advances.

Weapons

Now I know it is too late for you guys at beth to change this, but you should really reconsider your decision to drop spears, halbards, throwing knives, throwing axes, darts and crossbows. I am sure that it would take a lot of effort to create these weapon types, effort which could be put into other aspects of the game. But I sincerely believe that the option to use these weapons would greatly increase the fun and replayability of the game and add a greatly enchanced feeling of customisation to your characters fighting style and personality that I found Oblivion to be throughly lacking. Especially in Skyrim I think that hunting spears etc would make sense, also spears for guards and the like would also feel very neat. Then awe throwing barbarians goes without saying that it's cool. Assassins and bounty hunters would be greatly enhanced as an role-playing class if you could chose to be sneaky with throwing knives and poisoned darts, or use the slow and expensive but immensely powerful crossbow to take down targets from afar ala sniper/ambush action.

Those were my two cents for what I believe is going to be a spectacular game that will add lots of fun to the TES series :)

easy. if the stealthed character has not been detected = no music cue. Stealthed enemy comes out of stealth = cue music.

No, I meant, how do they try to detect when a player engages an opponent?

Think of it this way:

There is no such thing as cold. The term "cold" describes a simple lack of heat energy.

So fire goes first adding too much heat energy to the target, causing metals to expand, water to evaporate etc. Then all that heat energy gets torn away, causing water and steam to freeze into ice, metal to contract etc.

or the other way around.

this is great! and depending on where it hits or if its an area affect, it and shrink armor eventually suffocating enemies or breaking weapons

How cute, fans think Todd Howard needs help. As if his team of 100+ developers weren't enough.

I'm pretty sure that ideas about fire + frost combining to give a "melting" or a "steam" spell just won't get in. There are at least 80 spells (or is that spell effects?) in the game. Can you imagine how much work it would be to consider all possible pairs of those spells, what effects they should have, how they should be animated, balancing them in combat, and so on? With 80 spells, there's 3160 possible pairs. Not going to happen.

Real tranportation methods besides fast travel.

Having both can be done if you make the fast travel like in Daggerfall, so when using fast travel you'll get several options if you want to go by foot/horse (which will take longer time) or use whatever transportation services located along the way (which will be a lot quicker, but cost you some). AND for those who don't like fast travel, they can always use only the traditional services. Everybody 'appy!

THIS!!!!!!!!!, and also, DITCH THE QUEST COMPASS
