Unofficial Brink FAQ

Hm, odd information I seem to have noticed that I haven't seen asked. It might not be a big deal, but it was there. Didn't see it on the FaQ so I figured I'd make note:

Just at 3:40.

Paul Edgewood says 'big orchestral soundtracks'.
:disguise:

I'm hoping it's more than just during the cinematics.
What I'm hoping for are some soundtracks (possibly heard during battle (I hope)) inspired by both sides' plight. For the Resistance, it would be inspired by their desperate fight to acquire much needed supplies, and for the Security, it would be inspired by their fight to defend the Ark's resources and rich inhabitants. Ah, if only. Would be glorious.

Well, that aside. Anyone know what's going to happen or have any ideas?

This is what I'd expect from both sides:
The Security's soundtracks are more on the orchestral side, with more clean and crisp melodies. Their sound is very distinct.
The Resistance's soundtracks are more gritty, blending both orchestral sounds with electronic instruments and guitars (sort of like Celldweller's Ursa Minor Electron Mix).

Yeah, the Resistance gets stereotypical metal music, I know. That's what comes to my mind when I think Resistance, though.

That is incorrect, the resistance is fighting because they want to be equal, they belive the founders and security are opressive, they want there share and want to search for any survivors/surviving land

The security are fighting because they see the resistance as a terrorist group, the security wants to keep peace and stability on the ark and conserve what they have, and they want to stay on the ark, unlike the resistance who want to leave.

Just to add this in. I think the founders may be trying to reduce the population to restore the ark to a stable number so they wont have any more food/water/resource shortages, and to do this they forced the people into civil war, tey make the security belive the resistance are terrorists and they, peace keepers. And making the resistance belive they are freedom fighters anf the security, opressive overlords.

It was in the back of my head, and I was excited, so the whole thing didn't quite go through my mind. I know what's going on, sorry.

Please don't bump threads, if you have something constructive to add to the thread and that brings it to the front page that's great - otherwise it's spam.

It's acceptable for a thread to be bumped once or twice as long as at least a day as passed since the last post (and as such there's nothing wrong with Dysfunkshion's January 25 bump), but at this point it's been bumped quite a number of times. If you would like to bring attention to this thread you should post the link when appropriate - you could also link to it in your signature.

I've deleted most of the bumps, one of which was made less than an hour after the last post. Let's try and keep the thread spam-free from now on.

wait, you can switch teams in the middle of the battle? that doesn't make sense given SD's commitment to having fair gameplay.

With no persistent stats, there is no incentive to always switch to the winning team, so i assume the idea is that people will balance teams to have more fun.

Or do a 8v4 because they have the urge to win......

You couldn't, though. If you leave a team, bots will replace you. Every match will be 8v8, though there could be fewer than 8 human players on either team.

I recall reading that their will be an option to turn off bots if you so desire. I'm sure this is a PC only feature though.

Probably. Just like changing the gun fire settings (Like burst to full auto) for zombie games. Console gamers don't get that luxury.....

Q: I heard you get no XP for killing enemies, is that right?
A: No, you do get XP, but it's a tiny amount compared to helping teammates or completing objectives. You gain extra XP for playing online. Killing people while you're near teammates or an objective gives extra XP, based on a multiplier system.

I think gaining extra XP for playing online was cut. I don't remember the source (I believe it was Richard Ham), but I'll be sure to post it when I find it.

EDIT: Found it, bottom of the first page.

Tattoos aren't Permanent, in the customisation trailer Paul Wedgwood changes from Russian gangster to El Salvadorian tattoos. I remember that well.

Got a question on incapacitation...

If you can choose to die whenever you want how does the interrogate feature actually work? Can you lock on from a distance so they can't die before you interrogate or is it going to be semi useless unless the guy on the ground doesn't know what's going on?

An incapacitated person can not simply respawn, but has to wait until the next respawn-wave launches.

So you have between 1 and 20 seconds to interrogate him before he can respawn.

Hmm. I was under the impression that you could choose to put yourself into the respawn cycle or holdout for a certain amount of time for a medic (not unlike MAG), but if you choose to put yourself into the respawn cycle do you stay incapacitated until the cycle hits then?

Plus being able to shoot from incapacitated and being able to use the syringe whenever is going to make Interrogation a rather dangerous option, not that I mind that.

Exactly.

Before you can revive yourself with a syringe, some medic must have handed you one.

And being able to shoot while incapacitated is an ability not everyone will use. Also it's only with a Pistol - and some very limited ammo, I guess.

Hard to say. When you get incapictated you can wait for a medic or rejoin the spawn wave. We don't know how the interrogation ability will affect you trying to join the respawn cycle.
